    I’m really working on this. The parts I love are as follows
    1. You always hit the ball on center of club
    2. Your loft is consistent
    3.mistake feedback is instant and you understand exactly why it was not correct
    4. I win chipping contests now :)

    Thank you Steve, today I shot a 74 (+2) after watching this. (My handicap index is 11.2) I had 5 up & downs (should have been 6 but missed a putt from 2 feet 🙈) I’ve watched plenty of UA-cam clips about chipping etc but no one has ever said “don’t hit the ball” it just makes so much sense! 👍🏻

      I've been working on this since your "using the bounce" video. Brilliant! My only comment - you have women watching your content, so perhaps you could give some LPGA player examples. 😉

    Best chipping video I’ve watched! I was taught the method you showed at beginning with shaft lean, hitting down with leading edge and have always been frustrated - lately to the point of avoiding chips all together. Can’t wait to practice this better method. Cheers Steve-O!

    Much needed short game advice. Thanks, Steve.

    I've actually been practicing this in the back garden today. I use the wrist hinge method. Activating the bounce takes the duff out of the equation. Sometimes the chunk and run works just as well as the nipped chip you were after.

    Wow great it works like magic. Is this same like a green side bunker shot except u hit the sand not the grass before the ball?

    How do you ensure you don’t thin it where it bounces too early?

    • @larryenglebert690

      exactly !!!!

      I have the exact same issue. Too many thinned shots with wedges. Very frustrating

    Great video as always, Steve. 👍
    Question though - how do know which loft of wedge / iron to use from around the green to get the right amount of roll?
    Cheers!

    • @mikerodrick2430
      @mikerodrick2430 2 роки тому

      Depends on the distance from the pin. Less loft, more roll.

    Tough for me to pivot my body with such a short swing. I tend to get too handsie

    • @stevejohnstongolf
      @stevejohnstongolf  2 роки тому

      Set up with stance line open to encourage pivot through impact🤷‍♂️

    Good morning Steve,
    I just picked up golf earlier this year and your channel has helped me tremendously. God bless, keep up the good work.
    What do you think about Phil Mickelson chipping lessons? Its a different take on chipping.. Would like to know your thoughts. thank you

    Is this the legal version of the Smithworks wedge? Just wondering, because I know there’s a legal version and one that has a crazy amount of spin and is not USGA or R&A compliant.

    This is GREAT
    … with a perfect lie 🙄
    But, what about out of the ROUGH?
    Move back ten yards and …
    What adjustments do you make when the ball sits down in deeper grass?
    With grass between the clubface and ball, it’s like hitting the ball with a pillow.
    Try to cut through the grass and the sticky grass grabs the club, opening the face OR drastically closing the face (you don’t know which)
    Another video, perhaps? 🤔

    Swinging the sole of the club is much different than swinging the club face. Swing the sole of the club and spank the ground with the sole of the club directly under the ball while trying to make the most perfect rectangular divot that points at your target with every swing.

    i have NEVER, not ONCE heard to place ball back in stance on chips. You are starting with a flase preimse. Just say bounce is your friend, or stand proper distance from ball in setup to eliminate hitting ground before the ball

    • @swisstrader
      @swisstrader 2 роки тому +1

      HUH?? 99% of chipping instruction suggests placing hands forward and ball back in your stance.
