Way cool. Jody, this is why I come to your channel for information: Zero BS factor. Thank you.

Impressive. Hard to believe such penetration. You'd think the puddle would "shade" the heat from going deeper but nope. Certainly will be some applications where lasers will take over. For steels like 4130 I wonder if the speed results in a lack of mixing and a too sharply defined HAZ for those kinds of metals. Might end up with brittle, crack prone welds.

This would be awesome for aubody repair

Ah, call me very impressed. It's not for a job shop or even the average weld shop. But in production applications it's a game changer... NOW THE QUESTION, HOW MUCH FOR THE BIG ONE THAT WELDED THE ALUMINUM?

The future belongs to laser machines, but for many years and perhaps decades, they will be too expensive.
With $2000 you get home an excellent 200A TIG, but it took decades to get there
The laser showed impressive results. Obviously these machines will improve over time

Why is it that the laser welding is always on the flat, never see vertical, overhead

The room has a kill switch to inactivate the welder when the door opens , but he is welding with the door open? I feel this is ideal for robot welding , the danger of permanent blindness is too great , accidents do happen.

A laser room is pretty much useless without full containment (ie., this one has no roof!). You can get dangerous indirect exposure from reflections off the ceiling.

One inch per second is like mig welding speeds :)

so for aluminium Laser welding is the future but stainless is still in the hands of TIG and stick ?

Regarding aluminum and stainless steel, laser welding is better at welding stainless steel

@@Denaliweld660 A cold wire TIG comparison would be nice?

    That machine probably costs $30,000-$40,000
I know you can buy less powerful machines for $5000. But they can’t penetrate anything over 1/8”
I will say, the speed and penetration from that laser in this video was extraordinary.

To appreciate tig welding it’s easy take your time to let it penetrate and forget the speed!Chinese trick to push the welders!!!!0 for me even it has room for applications. Comparing Vega Chevrolet to Maserati?????

Technology is always advancing, in the hands of professional welders laser welding can play better
