    Mike, besides the grapple, which is the handiest attachment on earth for handling logs and brush, you should get a pro driven skidder,winch! The one thing that drives me crazy is how many times you handle your fire wood! Ex: I cut the tree down, I limb it and cut it in 2 or 3 pieces. Winch the logs up to the skidder plate and hook the draw chains to the skidder. Drag the logs out to an open field and stack the logs to cure for a year. I then carry the logs with the grapple up to the house one at a time and cut the fire wood to length next to the splitter. Are you with me? The first time I handle the wood is when I split it! I then stack it in the shed next to the outside furnace. I'm not a lazy man but I watched my Dad do everything the hard way for over 60 years! He handled wood 5 or 6 times before it finally went in the stove!

    Mike, being from Connecticut I’m familiar with this product. The one I used was rated for about 600 pounds. Used it for all kinds of things. Storage hopper for pellets for the stove, firewood carrier, have even used it as a makeshift vegetable stand. The two arms in the back you can place plywood on and make a nifty sign. We chained it to a tree so it wouldn’t walk away.
    Yes you can haul the trailer behind it. My kids used to say I looked like the baggage tug driver at Bradley International Airport. Heard from a friend they are/have come out with a new product where you can mount a string trimmer to the roll hoop of say the RK37 or your zero turn mower.

    Glad you enjoyed the "Kodak moment" with your deer encounter. Lots of times those are just as lasting. Now...only thing you need on the quick hitch is a hydraulic TOP LINK. Used the one Kapper Outdoors has on his tractor and it's awesome. Not just for hooking up equipment from inside the cab or up on the tractor seat, but adjusting it on the fly out in the field.

I think that new implement is awesome! Can’t wait to find out more details. Only one thing might improve it - spray on bed liner inside it. Not even powder coat will last long with tossing tools and logs in that. But it does look really well thought out.

    Hello another great video here's what we did when we bought our property we bought a Polaris midsize 500 Crew SXS and 60inch pull behind finish cut mowing deck , 2 high wheeled 22in push mowers, and 18in chainsaw 2 axes, 3 shovels, a 4500 lbs winch and we went to work clearing our land very 1 hard working spring later it was looking 💯 percent better. Now the Polaris is a few payments away from done we bought a New Holland Boomer 33 tractor with a loader and some goodies for the back of the tractor lol. I hope this may help someone plan their outdoor adventure SXS equals family trips and vacations and once that's done a tractor is a great addition to your land.

    I forgot.... When you said you had a new attachment for sure I was betting it was Melissa, she sure seemed "attached" to that RK55 while scrapping the driveway, I just figured it would be "share the seat" time...LOL. Nice story of your hunting experience, it is not always "go out a kill something" it is go out and enjoy "mother nature" and all the creatures, I remember hunting on a cold snowy nasty day in upstate New York, I was on one side of a creek, sitting all huddled up, and spotted a large doe coming through the woods in my direction, she came down to the the creek and stopped for a drink then started right straight at me, she got about 10 feet from me before she realized something was different, she stomped the ground a couple times, then just continued on, but while I could also reach out and touch her I could see the ice forming on her whiskers, it was times like this that make "hunting" such a great sport.

    Tool and equipment storage is one thing that is very lacking on tractors. Nice review of that tool rack (man purse, haha). I could use that this weekend for volunteer heavy equipment disaster cleanup from Hurricane Michael. It would need a lot of suitcase weights, though. When you start using it, test out how much you can comfortably lift with the grapple with that ballast. As always, great video.

    Mike. I was one of “those guys” that kept telling you to get a quick hitch. You will wonder why it took you so long to get it. It is a necessity when you have more than 1 implement (powered or not). It does require initial setup for each implement, but once done well worth it. Next, as I and others have said, get a hydraulic top link and a hydraulic tilt cylinder. It makes adjusting a plow, land plane, blade, box blade a 2 second operation. I wouldn’t steer you wrong Mike.

    Mike, You need an inverter mounted on the tractor, and run a cord to the new tool rack, since it does not swivel there is no stress, you could put a water proof junction box with a duplex plug, power a good sized work light, , a corded on could be used where you need it, tractor running, would cost pennies compared to the batteries for a same size light, I can see alot of good things with this, not to mention, charge the battery chain saw on the way to the woods and on the way back..

    Tried a quick hitch because I'd borrowed an implement that had the lower links replaces with rusted over bolts, but the quick hitch became more of a hassle than the telescoping lower links especially if the tractor and implement weren't both on level ground.
    BTW ...it's was entertaining to see Melissa clap her hands at the start the video (especially given the discussion on it so many videos back) -- guess the signature start is spreading :D

    Loved your comedy in this video.
    You mentioned that in PA your not allowed to leave your hitch ball in the receiver of the vehicle? What is the thought behind that?
    I leave mine in so people won’t park or want to stay away from my backside in our state.
    You are correct about catching your leg or knee on the hitch but after that I always remember that if any vehicle or implement can toe or haul to always approach & look down and also up to see what could potentially harm me.
    Good luck filling your new purse!

Didn't see enough detail. Is there a slot for the blade?? Let us know more details, like capacity. To be a better ballast, could you put a few cement pavers in the bottom instead of suitcase weights? What the Big Tool Rack hasn't got and urgently needs is a fold down seat. One of the things you always need on a new property is Partner Approval and your Partner can only give that if you can Safely carry your Partner out to the site.

  • @jeffreyallan2545
    @jeffreyallan2545 5 років тому

    Mike, Big tool rack is a vendor on a Deere forum I belong to. Appears very well made and as you have demonstrated they have numerous add-ons to customize it to your needs. Don’t they also have a mesh wall that mounts to the front to secure smaller items to? It is also a great way to organize a lot of your equipment and outdoor tools in one spot even if you never pick it up with the 3 point. All that said, I was really interested in one, until I saw the price. I am curious if the partnership with Rural King will net a reduction in cost? From what I remember they started at around $1600-$1700. Jeff

    • @jeffreyallan2545
      @jeffreyallan2545 5 років тому

      Something that you and or Big Tool Rack need to work on are the wheels. If you take it to a place on your property I would want the option to move it around without the tractor. Long story short the option of much larger pneumatic tires. Similar to what one would find on a pressure washer, but maybe a bit larger to carry the weight.

    I was in for one until it became a "man purse" - LOL -- Mike, she makes the videos even better. Great job as always. Truly enjoy the videos and how they are done. I do like it though...looks like the fully loaded optioned one goes for $1299

    Good video. Quick question, I hope you can get to it. Have or did you consider a pats quick hitch? If you have, why did you not end up with it? The reason why I ask, I purchased one. I hated it. It was never adjusted right, one side would dog in and snap closed while the other did not... and the biggest issue when raking or with the grader blade on it would pop out on one side from time to time, the lock would pop open allowing it to come out. I sold it for 100 bucks. Not impressed. So, that being said, I am curious how much, or if this set up is better... As you can imagine I am not gun shy on the whole quick hitch idea....
