Sir I have a question please do revert to me, i am very distressed because of it, I got 43.2 percent in 10th, 84.4 percent in 12th, 60 percent in my diploma in mechanical engineering, and currently I am doing my btech in computer science in which I should get 70 to 75 percent. I wanted to ask you that will i be able to fill admission form of any IIMs or can I get a call from any IIM. Please sir help me clear this thing out, it would be a big help.
Your 10th-grade percentage (43.2%) is low, which will significantly impact your profile for older IIMs (like IIM A, B, C) since they give high weightage to past academics. However, you still have a chance with newer and baby IIMs, as they focus more on CAT scores and diversity factors.
Can You Fill the IIM Admission Form?
Yes, you can apply for IIMs as long as you meet their minimum eligibility criteria, which is:
A bachelor’s degree with at least 50% (45% for NC-OBC, SC, ST, and PwD categories). Since you are expecting 70-75% in BTech, you meet the minimum criteria.
Can You Get a Call from Any IIM?
Your chances depend on these factors:
1️⃣ CAT Score - The higher, the better
To compensate for your 10th-grade marks, you need a very high CAT score (98+ percentile for top IIMs, 92+ for newer IIMs, 85+ for baby IIMs).
IIMs like IIM Indore and IIM Kozhikode give weightage to 10th and 12th marks, so they might be difficult to get into.
2️⃣ Category - If you belong to NC-OBC, SC, ST, or PwD, your chances improve significantly.
3️⃣ Academic Diversity & Work Experience
Having a diploma in mechanical and a BTech in CS might give you diversity points.
