Quite a good report, but you started off wrong - with a picture of an American opossum, rather than an Australian brush-tail possum - which is the one we've been saddled with in NZ.
It's a laudable goal but I think unrealistic. How would you propose to get rats out of cities, towns or people's homes? They live in all of those places and are incredibly resourceful and fast breeding. Miss a few and all of your effort is for naught. Maybe one day in the distant future when robotics have been miniaturized and are replete and programmable to hunt and kill only rats something of this magnitude may be possible but that is in the distant future. Until then, once introduced into a large country or even medium sized one, they are there to stay.
As much as I hate rats, like some would call what I experience a phobia. I don’t know if I support this effort! Who are we as humans to decide which animals deserve to live and which deserve to die? Who are we to make that decision when we ourselves are also an invasive species in most of our range

This is an American channel...😅

Possums and opossums are 2 completely different animals as possums are invasive to New Zealand but you’re showing images of opossums
I know, right? 🤦♀️
Wrong possum, m8. You got the American Virginia opossum, totally different from the Australian brushtail possum that is invasive to NZ
00:57 Is that a bees nest on his head?
No but the bees might think

8 PETA employees disliked this videos thinking the dirty rodents and pests that are harming the NZ environment also have "lives."
I wonder why the companies that make rodent bait poison don't make bait that will sterilize rodents.
@1:56 Messing with dead rat with no gloves on, disgusting!
something has to be done about about Zealand hairstyles, this can't go on.
na

The thumbnail shows an American opossum. Our possums came from Aussie and look different.

We introduced them where they don't belong and they are causing animals in those places to go extinct. That is why.
@@casienwhey as if humans are meant to be there? And as if humans haven’t caused many animal species on New Zealand to go extinct as well?
Get a clue. Or do you prefer to allow extinction of other species when it's clearly preventable.
Yay more poisons dropped in clean green Nz
Yeah I know, still not enough but it’s a start...www.pce.parliament.nz/media/1294/evaluating-the-use-of-1080.pdf
