BTW the OBDLINK that stops working is an OBDLINK only problem. A slower adapter will not do this, but the OBDLINK is sooo much better when it works. We are working with OBDLINK to solve this, but we have been working on it for several years and not much progress has been made. In their defense we are overloading the OBD2 hardware severely with the amount of data and an edge case non-OBD2 type of data harvesting to get the Tesla data. Not much we can do about it until OBDLINK can solve the problem and come with a firmware update, or someone else invents a device that is as fast but without the crashing.

An engineer, a manager and a computer programmer are driving down a hill and the brakes fail.
The car careers down the hill, but miraculously, they bring the car to a stop at the bottom without crashing.
They all get out. The engineer says "Let's dismantle the brake system and investigate the cause."
The managers says, "Hold on! We should first form a committee and explore all options before coming to any decisions on how to proceed."
The computer programmer says, "Why don't we push it back up to the top of the hill and see if it happens again?"

The reason OBD port in front does not publish all of the data is due to security and also privacy reasons. The available data in in front are only there to read diagnostics and error code by let’s say service centers or road authorities (on ICEs e.g. to read current emission). The complete backbone data is published on other sort of hidden ports.

But are there any places where an electric vehicle would somehow need an emissions test? And what would the inspectors say if a vehicle that has no tailpipe pulls up and there is no place to perform a tailpipe emissions test?

Also as a customer it dearly matters to me if it takes the car 10 minutes longer to charge from 10 to 80% then it did before.
The situation right now is that if you order a Model 3 LR you might get the good and proven Panasonic version on or you will get the vastly worse LG Version Battery for the same money !
As I said if VW would do that sort of thing you would hear the cry out from Germany right up to the Hymalays !
Tesla needs to learn they cannot just build their cars with the components they happen to find lying around .
I have lost my trust in Tesla as I don't know if I will get the exact car I ordered or if they have changed it up in the mean time.
The early Model 3's had self dimming side mirrors and sort of simple ambient lighting but all of that suddenly disappeared without Tesla saying a single word !
It was customers who noticed their friends car had ambient lighting while their car did not have it !
Now the self dimming mirrors are back, but you never know if they will take them away again or just leave out some noise dampening material if they are short on it !
Compared to other manufacturers it's very hard to find a full list of how the car is equipped on their website and they do that for a reason !

Bjorn - I mean no disrespect, but I'm baffled by your inability to pronounce 'w' - as in BMW, you say bee emm vee - but I know you can pronounce the word double, and you can pronounce you - so why not Bee Emm Double-you?

No, look it up. It's "bee em vee". Norwegian and German is very similar, so it makes sense for him to pronounce it correctly.

@@Air-ic279 NOPE! Bjorn was speaking English, not German. In English 'V' is vee, 'W' is double-you. End of.
