I always found the customization in MK 11 to be ironic, since there's a ton of skins, accessories, and intros/outros, but over half of them are just variations of the same outfits and accessories. If you're gonna have all these options, at least make each one unique with compelling alternative colors, not copies with bland colors. Good to see that you can at least make a handful of interesting customizations, even with the unnecessarily limited pond to work with.
It’s still the most customisation we’ve ever had, and some of the recolours look nice for some characters
@@shadow-squid4872 which says a lot about how out of date Mortal Kombat is, compared to other fighting games. Yes some colors are nice, but the vast majority are utter crap as they're either muted or slight variations of the same colors. MK X may have less customization, but at least the characters had unique outfits and didn't look homogeneous with slight color variations.
@@michaelfireheart8300 I still much prefer MK11s customisation compared to what we got in Injustice 2 where 80% of the gear pieces are all over designed and glowing armour with little to no way to recreate specific looks from other media
@@shadow-squid4872 Which is fair, but Injustice 2's issue was gear pieces that ultimately didn't utilize all the unique outfits DC had to offer, while MK 11 overhauled that by making most of the outfits dull as well as with slight variations. They both actively leave out most of the unique outfits in their respective franchises, while adding random costumes nobody asked for. I mean the best costumes in MK 11 were the original outfits from the original games, but that was about it.
I wish they did more like IJ2. Have unique customization pieces, and just be able to recolor them with shaders. (Granted, you got alot of dupes with gear in IJ2, but atleast the gear pieces were unique for the most part)
Still annoys me we can’t have character variation names over 16 letters!

As much as I wasn't crazy about the 3D era, it kind of annoys me that Netherrealm never bothers to reference it in any way other than to mock it in some way.

@@NoahDaArk Hsu Hao isn't even that bad of a character, since he just needs a better redesign and character story. Hsu Hao easily could've come back as the leader of the Red Dragon and have new cybernetic body modifications, that allow him to control powerful beams from his hands and chest, while also having a hairy body to replace Kano, so that guy can just rest after being used to death. Hsu Hao deserved better than just being killed off, similar to how they treated Nitara in that abysmal recent MK film. Hsu Hao could be from a realm of technology, which became polluted from their technology, leaving his skin yellow and him as half a cyborg, working to get Onaga's power to recreate his own realm into a utopia. He also could've had a second in command from Nitara's realm, developing her world and giving Hsu Hao his own version of Kitana.
At least he accomplished more in his debut appearance than Kano did in any of the games since 2008.
@@Jahlil.W Very true, since Kano was just around to sell weapons, get caught by Sonya, and or be a useless henchmen. Which is pretty sad, that they kept Kano around to be filler and not actually do anything in the plot.
@@Jahlil.W Kano is the embodiment of failing upwards and hasn't achieved anything throughout the franchise outside of the SnowBlind movie.
For the Spawn variation with gold and chain focus, maybe you can call it The Redeemer in reference to the character in the comics who was essentially an anti-hellspawn with similar abilities

If I ever decide to get this game, the first full kustom design I’m making is Deadly Alliance Shang Tsung. His fire cobra intro is so awesome to me and kinda stuck with me when he used it to defeat Raiden in Deception’s opening, it’s so kool!
Netherrealm didn't have to add more customization slots since the fanboys don't have standards.

There actually is a red and yellow suit for Joker in MK11. It's what I use for the movie one. And there's also one that looks like the Dark Knight Returns one with the white and purple

3:33 scorpion has been portrayed with swords as far back as Deadly alliance didn’t start using both regularly until armageddon/MK9
Cassie's Bad Cass variation reminds me of one of my ideas for your next Mortal Kombat Khronicles story. It's called Guess Who's Koming for Dinner, and it's about Cassie introducing her boyfriend to her parents and things got really awkward, when he turns out to be Kano's son.
Funnily, I do plan to use the Bad Cass concept in MKK.
Too much about customization in this game just bothers me like why no movie liu kang or mk1 version? Why give sub zero weapons as gear when he can make any weapon, why have his mkx mask but no outfit equivalent, why doesn't the big axe match the small ones, why no cyber sub or cyber armored sub despite having countless cyber masks. Why is shangs movie costume completely the wrong color. Why no human noob,why no Medieval spawn, why is his comic outfit wrong why is commando spawn wrong. I can honestly list for hours about logical missing stuff.

In MK Khronicals in the Superstar's Life Story Johnny doesn't know Sonya was captured in between MK1 and MK2 until Raiden tells him, so how did she get captured?
In the original MK2 comic written and drawn by John Tobias; her and Kano never made it off the island, and were taken by Shang Tsung and his goons.
In Shaolin Monks (and I think in MK9 too), she was captured by tarkatans during the assault on the Wu Shi temple.
@@EndoScorpion In the MK2 Comic Johnny sees Sonya and Kano fall into the lava while in MK Khronicals he acts like she made it off the island. And in MK Khronicals the heroes don't go to the Wu Shi Academy to celebrate.
@@MegaHeaf In the MK Khronicles chapter "The Hero's Return" it seems to follow the comic; in wihch the Wu Shi Academy was attacked before the heroes returned. Liu Kang returned to find it in ruins. Spurring Liu (and Kung Lao) to fight in MK2.
Raiden explains in this chapter of Khronicles: "I managed to save Johnny Cage, but Sonya Blade and Kano were lost as the island collapsed. Scorpion returned to the Netherrealm, while Shang Tsung and his minions are likely to have escaped."
In the comic, Johnny and Sonya were both falling into the pit, but Raiden saved Johnny and threw him through a portal that sent him back to Earthrealm, where Jax finds him alone. Johnny probably assumes Raiden went back to save the others too.
"Jo-Gang" makes me think of Jack Nicholson's Joker, Jack Napier. Imagine if they made a model that looked like Nicholson or Ledger for the game!
Better yet get Jack Nicholson to voice him

I don't know why but I prefer the MK9 color scheme on the mk11 model I don't know if it's because it's cary-hiroyuki tagawa it might not be because I always thought the color scheme with a little off on the MK9 model which might be more of a personal gripe with the model quality in that game overall

I belive a half decent explanation for why scorpion has his fire powers while being a human is maybe because he went to the elements temperature or whatever it was called and got fire powers like sub zero but I do believe that the hellport was givin to him when he became a specter

I believe the jumpsuit for Jacqui was inspired by Ghostbusters, and the last Subzero outfit was The Ice King from Game of Thrones

This is prob a dumb idea, but I had this idea in the back of my mind that Baraka's bone claws emit sparks because their bones are comprised of something really similar to magnesium, but more volatile - to the point where the sparks can pretty much be thrown like fiery projectiles.
The story accurate stuff for revenant Nightwolf is Fearless Face for the headdress, River Hook for the Gunstock, and Swooping Harrier for the Tomahawk.
I always thought the orange jumpsuit skin, along with what color it makes her gauntlets, was meant to be a Portal reference.

You know after seeing the video now I kinda want to see you make what if certain characters join certain factions just a suggestion
They should've let us apply our personal variations on the characters in story mode, so we could play with our preferred movesets.
They could even have stipulations: Young Johnny needs to have glasses while Old Johnny can't; Scorpion needs to be a spectre while Hanzo needs to be human; The revenants all need to be revenants while the past versions need to be human.
Stuff like that. That way you can make (for example) Hanzo and Scorpion unique characters in their movesets, Hanzo focusing on Martial Arts and swordplay while the Scorpion uses hellfire powers. Or Young Johnny playing a bit more like an asshole while Old Johnny plays a bit more reserved.

Blows my mind that the Reptile skin didn't come with green fire. I agree that the skin just shouldve went to Sub (who I think DOES have green ice weapons) but the fire breath and fire ball couldve worked for him if they were green. I use both, along with Demon Dash, which basically IS a Reptile move

Yo idk if anyone can help me with this but since I’ve redownloaded the game on my Xbox One X, the game (for some reason), thinks that I don’t own any dlc content.
I’ve tried everything, downloading from the in-game store, reinstalling the content through my Xbox storage, and I still have nothing. Has anyone else faced this issue and if so can you help me?
Happened to me with Injustice 2, I've yet to be able to find a way to fix it. It's like it thinks you own the base game even though you own the ultimate edition
This reminds me of Armageddon's CAC where I'd try to make characters like Ghost Rider.
My Shang Tsung "movie" variation is called "Let MK Begin." lol I love when he says that in the remix for Techno Syndrome where they play lines from the movie.
I actually use the Orange Jumpsuit Jacqui with the name 'Red Five'. Resembles a Rebel Pilot suit to me

Love the video! Wish mk11 hadnt altered classic/previous costumes from other games for worse. I wanna know what do you think about the next NRS game not taking itself too seriously with costumes and giving us a something like a hawaiian outfit for joker, teddy bear costume for Scorpion, santa for Bo Rai Cho, karate gi for Batman, pajamas for someone anyone idk who, and like you said Green Lantern for Johnny? I like the croc set for Baraka, Cassie and Kitana DC outfits are awful but again takes itself too seriously.

Especially Nightwolf I have em as his modern look and thought the same with that as of it was after he reverted back from his revenant form. Conqurered Shao Khan is honestly my favorite, second fave being do not pursue.
I did a Joker variation based on an alternate cover of Death In The Family. He wears the black and white suit with the most basic top hat, with the crowbar he killed Jason with
If I was able to make a police outfit for Kabal, I would've named it TJ H00ker (UA-cam censors names that sound naughty 🤷🏻♀️)
I ended up using the red Joker suit to reference the Joker movie and I think it looks fine
I named that variation Man's Laughter 'cause I thought it was kinda clever even if it wasn't a line in the movie

One thing that really angered me about scorpion is how one of his outros is a Kombat League exclusive, like it’s the most mundane one too.
So if people like me who’ve never played in the KL and never could because they suck, will just forever have 4/5 outros

I think they dropped the ball having so many different outfits and recolours, you can tell with the bonus and dlc skins theyre better designed because theyre more specific, most of the base recolours arent that great, id rather have less skins that had more time spent on the design.

I never bought any MK series, past MK9 for the Xbox before I got a PC, so I had no clue of this until TODAY, but I thought they got rid of variations after MKX and I was so sad, I honestly loved the Variation mechanic as each player could have their way to play, especially with the whole time manipulation plot in the campaign. So happy to see Variations still thrive!
MK11 did on thing best. And that is customization, I hope they contunie something like this on the next games

Yeah now that I think about it you really can’t make an accurate version of noob design from deception (obviously you can’t change saibot) since no skin or gear pice really resembles is first or secondary design
