When I was in my early 20ies, I also thought I can run away from my problems and depression and lack of self esteem by travelling. I was shocked as I found myself totally depressed on a wonderful beach in Australia. This is where I learned I really can't escape myself, whereever I go. Also, travelling costs so much money. Which is fine I guess when you like or at least tolerate your job. But I hate mine. Which means I strive to escape it as early as possible and retire at the soonest possible. Travelling would only postpony my goal, as it costs money, quite a lot of money actually, which doesn't mean I don't travel at all, I do - but within Europe only and not too expensive. I'm not sure if my decisions are smart, but they are the only decisions I'm currently able to take.

Hey I totally agree with you! I value traveling and expanding my worldview, but I value stability so much more. While people around me are seemingly priortizing traveling, I focus on building a better diet, exercise more often, decluterring and organizing my home, as well as practicing mental hygiene habits such as journaling, mindfulness, surrounding in nature, etc. My next goal is imporving my social life and connection. I still think of planning a trip somewhere soon, changing your environment and switching up your routine are needed sometimes, but staying grounded and build better habits are my top priorities. Sharing this to encourage on your decisions!

So.......change it? I hate to state the utterly obvious but it sounds like you need to find something you're passionate about with purpose, a profession that you connect with, rather than stay in the same crappy job that you want to get out asap.

It’s not black or white. If you travel superficially for the sake of traveling, that’s exactly what it will be. If it’s of high quality, make an effort to befriend the locals/learn a new culture. It will be life changing

Nice mate these are some true words! Traveling is not a solution, BUT it can help you to realise you have to work hard on yourself everywhere you go. Learning, sports, achieving, bussiness are great things to start with to be happy. It is also really good to just START with something, even if you don't know what you want to do! Just do! Let's go guys! Go for it and stop complaining! Live your life!

Meaning, purpose and service: that’s what’s gonna save us all not novelty and over-indulgence of senses. Travel including is made richer when there’s intentionality, purpose and meaning inherent in it- otherwise, its just as good as getting drunk on the couch. Keep going Bryson! Your gift needs to be shared

Thanks for putting this out here. It’s an unpopular opinion but something I’ve noticed in our generation of social media as well. Of course travelling itself is neutral, it’s the person and their being that matters.

It will when you bend a knee and serve and the veil will lift. Like when I went to reunite with my absentee father in Sunnyvale near San Francisco, he sent me away to my aunt in Los Angeles, and when I finally settled down and turned back to Christ, I was shown everything I missed on my journey. The Golden Gate bridge painted in Orange (color of Gluttony) - if you get across the golden gate bridge (over the rainbow) - and remain a saint (San) then you are a free man (Francisco). And Los Angeles is the city of Fallen/Lost angels. Only the tip of the Iceberg - when the veil lifts, you realize, the writing was on the wall your entire journey. So eyes wide open instead of eyes wide shut and take that journey of enlightenment because San Francisco and Los Angeles don't even exist - they're just imagined borders with meaning put on them that create a fallen culture of life here on Earth, for the Free-dom under the Kingdom - life in reverse/life in death. Matthew 6 is the way - that is the page that will teach you all these ways of Christians are false for they didn't follow clear instructions.

Seneca has quite a negative point of view... If we expand his theory, nothing will actually really fix you... Travelling can do a lot for someone and it can help to start afresh if you are depressed, or if you want to flee from family issues or if you find a good job abroad for example... And thus be the beginning on the path of being "fixed"... If you want to find a solution to your problems in the act of travelling, you must just, to my mind, prepare and see in advance what will offer the place you're going to and how it will be able to help you. I think "fixation" or "healing" can be found in travelling. You just need to find the right way to do it : where, when, how much time, etc... But in most cases it will not be only travelling, but living in another country for some time haha

Disobedience to God leads to eventually unhappiness, unfilled life , depression etc. The first command God gave man was to get married and have children. Nothing else will ever compensate for that blessing. “ Children are an inheritance from the LORD. They are a reward from him.” Life is more than your selfish vain pursuits and living with a cat or dog or traveling and and living your best van or tiny house life now. Don’t end up that lonely cat lady or bitter old man living in a van down by the river.

For those out of marriage and having sexual relations it's the same they are fornicators and will stand for eternal judgement if not repented and covered by forgiveness and grace of God.
