Elizabeth's vocal on this is so devastatingly emotionally powerful.
Greatest recording ever made - still gives me emotions like no other song even 38 years after release. It is almost criminal how Elizabeth Fraser is not a massive star.
A classic cover from the 80’s. This whole album is great.
Liz Fraser has a wonderful voice. She had dated Jeff Buckley at one time and the song Teardrop (Massive Attack) which she wrote and sang is at least partly about him.
There isn't an "effect" on her voice, that's her natural voice! I think it's what makes this version "hers" & also Great!
OMG!!!! I've been looking for this for YEARS!!THANK YOU!!!
Elizabeth Fraser, the singer on this met, and became the partner of, Jeff Buckley. They were together until Jeff Buckley's unfortunate drowning.
As always Greg, I am happy to share the music I love with you and enjoy watching it affect you in some way. Glad you liked this one.
You're the best, Bob!
I think “Tarantula” from their second album is also a must listen.
Originally it would be a-cappella track, the guitar (Robin Guthrie) was just the musical guide to support the singer (Elizabeth Fraser)
One of my favourite songs of all time.
Wow
This song featured on the Peter Jackson movie "Lovely Bones" starring Saoirse Ronan.
I loved this part of the movie mainly because the song made me cry but it was a very sad part of the movie too though.
There couldnt have been any other song for that scene
One of the best pieces of cinema with this song, no other song could have fitted
I play this in total darkness. Adds to the haunting music and lyrics
Brendan Perry's (Dead Can Dance) version is very nice too.
Please look at the 'live' recording of Liz & co. in the 1980's performing this on stage, -(live?).
Spine-tingling!
The movie "Lovely Bones", a Peter Jackson movie. There is a lovely TY video where Suzie, from The LB movie she's looking toward a golden-coloured horizon, Heaven! (All the other girls around Suzie were murdered child victims of the same Serial Killer!)
In the days of autotune this stands out even more. Maybe similarly to Adele's big entry into the pop music - you don't need want to mask or change anything - you make space ua-cam.com/video/SuwfsS5-iM8/v-deo.html
Iconic 80's indiie song and I didn't know is was a Tim Buckley cover. Shame on me and thanks to you!
If you want another off of the same TMC album, try Another Day -a Roy Harper cover.
Greg, you should check out Bryan Ferry's version too.
It's not a voice effect. It's Liz Fraser
