good point , we have a lot of perfumes collecting dust on our shelves , good idea to start using them instead of constanly buying new ones that are so expenssive !
Bhai You are spot on. These prices are going through the roof. My love of Fragrances switched awhile ago to middle eastern clones, do to the fact that I could get 5 for 100, compared to getting only 1 from a regular designer.
Its not the economy, it's greed. If they can sell you a bottle of smelly water with cheaper ingredients for more than what they were selling you a higher quality fragrance and people will buy it because they love luxury... good on you for seeing through it and how souless all these fragrances are. you aren't the only one who i respect saying it either.
Totally agree 💯 The law of supply and demand applies here too and (not directly at you Joy) the “hype train “ also makes prices go insanely crazy 🤑 Great subject 💯
I can understand maybe a $5 increase per year but to go from $80 to $160 is ridiculous. Some don't even perform well or last only a few hours. I don't believe the excuses about trouble with the supply line either. When the business reports come out, we find they had a record year of profits. I think it's corporate greed. I have been testing more small samples, which I never used to do before. I also buy more clones. Next I'm going to just get the small bottle instead of the large. I buy most new fragrances from discounters and try not to pay retail.
I saw the title and 100% agree. I sometimes used to buy 'retail' if in special offer but now I've stopped even looking at retail 'deals' on fragrances. Total rip-off. I have some ultra cheapies (around or below 10 euros for 100ml) and the price to quality on some of them (example 'Acqua' by Jeanne de Provence) puts designer retail prices (even many discounter prices!) to shame.
Brand new designer launches for 2024 are around $170 / 100ml here in Canada. If it’s Dior or YSL they blow past the $200 mark already. It is all going to hell. On point topic , Joy!
I totally agree with everything you said Joy. 💯 I'm done with new designers for good. I'm frankly shocked at the increasingly high prices so many people seem willing and OK with paying over the last 2 years. 🤔🤷 I'm looking for the sweet spot of value and quality, where the ME Houses are killing it. Retail was pretty bad before covid, but now it's just insane corporate price gouging (this is NOT "inflation")... it's just a cash grab. I think they are gonna be in trouble with all the competition from the newer ME Houses selling tons of quality product for 1/4 of the price. It's a no brainer to bail on new designers and retail, and just wait a year or so for those prices to come down to less insane prices and buy affordable quality fragrances from ME Houses instead.💯🤷
I have noticed this too. Basically, prices have doubled, quality has dropped, and the compositions of niche brands are smelling more mainstream. I have since made the decision to stop buying and just enjoy what I have.
Agree 100%. In 2021, sauvage elixir was RM500+ but when I checked it two days ago, it was RM775… that is massively higher than it was before. This is just Dior. Other brands are going higher too. It was already an expensive hobby but it’s only getting more expensive everyday day 😢
Definitely too expensive for what you get nowadays. I love finding a fragrance that I like that is also cheap, it makes me feel like I found buried treasure.
Thank you brother. With love from India. Your videos provide more value than the designers or niche fragrances nowadays. All the big brands care about is making superfluous money out of ordinary people like us. Let us not fall in their trap.
Jeremy told everybody how much his fragrances cost per bottle to produce...$5... and he also told us that he will sell it for $190! I remember when Cartier Pasha Parfum was released, direct at online shops 100ml for €49, they sold out and 6 months later they sold for €100+ and their whole fragrance lines more than doubled over night!
As fked up as that guy is, can't say he's not authentic. I remember that video, and i also remember another one where he received a big box from Giorgio Armani's with their private signature line fragances (the ones with the fancy bottles) and straight up said in the video they all sucked and if he hasn't been given the bottles he would never buy them. Lol. Zero fucks for Giorgio Armani. There's also a video from a perfumer i've watched years ago, explaining that the most expensive perfumes, the ones that go for 350$-400$ cost no more than 18$ per bottle to produce. The average designer ones costing about 8$-10$. It goes in line with what Jeremy was saying about his fragrances costing 5$ dollars to produce. It's like Nike sneakers or any other "luxury" brand item that gets to be produced en masse on places like China and Taiwan. Ray Ban sunglasses cost literally pennies to produce but the mark up is very high. It's all a scam tbh.
Middle Eastern fragrances are currently a trend in Latin America, there's more and more stores opening. And there is also a trend in oil based inspiration fragrances. Most people cannot afford designer or niche prices. But overall more people are interested in fragrances since 2020. That's my perspective. There is also an emerging decant market but we are just starting to adopt that culture, it's something very specific for a minority of collectors or fragrance geeks. It's true, you have to get merchandise that you can sell faster (as decants). But at the same time it cannot be too cheap because people would save some money and get the whole bottle.
Its why clones are taking over. Why pay a high price when you can get a clone that comes 90% close and the quality of many clones have gotten better. High end designer houses are crazy and the people who pay those prices are nuts
Joy, you need to take one more thing into account, currency depreciation against US dollar. Bangladeshi Taka has depreciated 30 percent in last 3 years. Rupee has done something like 20 to 25 percent depreciation. So a perfume that was 100 USD automatically becomes 130 USD for you. And not just that people make profits in percentages so that 130 becomes more like 140 USD
Agreed. I'm moving into artisanal indie niche. They have a high performance and creativity to value ratio. Because of IFRA and venture capitalist acquisitions the desogner niche space is a shadow of what it once was. Cheers.
Let them carry on. Greed will catch up to these brands. They're trying to protect their profit margin but the consumer will not tolerate it. Every merchandise in life can be substituted. They'll learn.
Designer perfumes are through the roof. I can't even look at niche perfumes. that's out of the question . I don't buy unless I can get a deal. and I have to say that probably 70% of my perfumes are now middle eastern. there are many that I love as much as my designer perfumes and niche This is a very expensive hobby.. I would rather eat and pay my bills than do this.
I remember back in 2015 I bought YSL L'Homme. From FragranceNet for $56 after tax. Now all the YSL fragrances including the old ones. They're going for $100 at discounters nowadays.
No fragrance is worth over $100 and even that's pushing the limit considering it costs big brands single digit dollars to manufacture these fragrances. When you can buy $5-$10 dupes that perform like and smell identical to the originals you realize there's something more going on than just worldly issues, greed is a big factor
"No Fragrance is worth over $100 and even that is pushing the limit." A - F'ing - Men! 💯 Ive been saying this for the last 5 years...and that's why out of the 120+ bottles in my collection, I only paid over $100 for four of them. My most expensive bottle is 100ml of VUI that cost me $106. I am not rich, like most people, and I haven't yet in this life, ever smelled ANY fragrance yet (out of hundreds) that I would ever pay over $120 for. 🤷 It's just smell good, not precious metals.🙄
Not only fragrances prices has gone insane...everything here in Denmark due to way too much rain sugar canes gone bad even know cacao beans where they grown in the world gone bad so price there sky high
"Buying those expensive designer and niche fragrances for their performance is like paying for a luxury sports car and discovering it has the acceleration of a snail on a coffee break. Sure, it looks good on the shelf, but where's the horsepower in that scent?"
Hey Joy . I agree with you if you say that designers and niche are too expensive. But the alternatives you mention are too my opinion no good Alternative. I also sell decants but if i buy a bottle for say 20 euro/usd i must sell my decants also for a very very cheap price. Otherwise nobody wants them.I also have the costs for decant bottles and envelopes...In my country ( i live in Europe) you can also buy the lattafa maison al hambra etc. But say i buy such a bottle for 20 euro and i want to sell it off. The prices of niche fragrances are crazy and not worth it in my opinion.
No fragrance, niche or designers, is worth more than $100 for 100 ml.
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT BROTHER.
I can't believe the prices of Chanel, Dior, and Tom Ford. They have gone up so much since 2020.
@abu-vai-sunny-vai They may have started it. Lol at least you can get them close to 50% off through the grey market.
@@abu-vai-sunny-vai Around $280
Completely agree with this, I feel as if I have the greats that were original rather than where the trends are going now.

prize gone high but the performance Sucks!
That's why clone houses like DUA are exploding. They make clones just as good as the original, with outstanding performance
The one who asks is not to blame, the one who buys is stupid

Seems like the purchasing power of "currencies" continues to get worse causing nominal prices to be never-ending higher.🥴
Best source - get friend or few that works in retail perfume shops. They can get you testers for half the price. And discounters ofc.

In Europe designer fragrances are becoming so expensive that it is becoming a better purchase to just go for discounted niche fragrances.
