  • Just an overview of my new telescope setup for widefield imaging for the coming summer nebula season.
Also some updates on captures I have recentley done and not posted videos of. I am really pleased with the Needle galaxy NGC4565. Hope you enjoy guys and clear skies.

Nice portable widefield setup there Rob. Looking forward to seeing more captures from this rig. I think you are very right that the recent aurora activity has made a dent in the tourist trade to far north countries. Clear skies.

Ha ha yes they won't be happy. All i need now are some clear skies. Only thing with summer is it takes many nights to capture some decent hours worth. Thanks Logan and clear skies bud.

Lovely widefield rig you have there Rob, and great images as well. I'm looking forward to comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, if it survives perihelion it could be one of the best in recent times. I'm old enough to remember Hale-Bopp and hope to see another comet like it before I pop my cloggs (this one won't match Hale-Bopp but should still be good). As for the aurora, we had a spectacular display up here in Scotland, I too regret not taking a time lapse of it. I did take quite a few pictures but was too busy watching the show to think about taking a time lapse.

Thanks Pete. I remember Hale-Bopp well. Also remember Hally. Tho was a little disappointed with that one. I have high hopes but many have promised but sadly broke up or just not shone. This is a pristine one so its anyones guess i suppose. Loved the Aurora so much tho you may have more chance in the future in bonny Scotland. Thanks for watching mate and clear skies.

Nice widefield setup Rob you got some cracking images with that, the Aurora was amazing we're still buzzing about it now although galaxy season for me has been pretty much a washout sadly.
    clear skies!!

Nice new set up there…Look forward to more images with it…also you are alway better to have more weight on your CW bar higher up the shaft, then less weight lower down, it’s far better for the mount, gears and motors as the moment arm is shorter and less torque is needed to move the mount, so you have done the right thing there with a bigger weight…👍🏻

Thank you Stuart. Yes looking forward to getting some decent imaging time with it. Definitely better to have the weight more to the centre axis. Inertia certainly accounts for guiding i think. Clear skies mate.
