This video is a demonstration of the indispensable role a teacher plays in a student's life. No matter how many times we listen to a composition and try to self-learn, it is impossible to achieve the level of perfection that a teacher can bring out of us. A student doesn't just learn the technique of an art form from a teacher, he learns to believe in something other than his ego - his guru. And this submission to a guru is the weight that can balance one's pride and arrogance (vidya garvam) on the character-scale. Shri gurubhyo namaha!
Thyagaraja's lyrical speciality of 'Sankshipta Ramayana'- Ramayana in capsule form; raga sanchari permeating the lyrics in melodic brilliance! Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer's masterly delineation is unfortunately lost but patanthara purity handed down by Sandhyavandanam Srinivasa Rao, MVI's disciple has become the 'golden' standard. SriPada Pinkapani Garu including the notated version of this masterpiece in his magnum opus book is a great attempt at sampradaya.
TM Krishna is so talented. He has been one of my favourite musicians from my generation. As long as he focuses on delivering and teaching quality music, he's outstanding. It's only when he talks politics and social issues does he have his foot in mouth moments.
Just like Tamils are told to learm working knowledge of Telugu, Kannaada, a true seeker should learner should learn other languages and i pray you would reach the heights of music. This requires acquiring vast padanthara fron giants and develop one's own bani. Karmataka sangeetha is vast. I wish I had learnt in my young age.
What an in-depth knowledge, ஆழ்மை, what a voice, what greatness .... appreciate your sangeetha ஞானம், prowess! But outwardly why are you anti-Hindu and anti-Brahmin and anti-Carnatic-legacy; those which have given you so much??? Nobody were against anybody. They were only focused and continuously specializing in the sangeetham, just like you. But why are you against them?
Great initiative. Show the teacher too when the student sings. Need not focus the student in full frame , as we need to see the teacher's gestures too when the student sings.

Namaste fantastic great teacher
Beautiful concept. Great execution. Would help the non Tamil speakers greatly if the tiny bits of conversations are subtitled in English.
