So this guy pranked his own company, claimed it was political, invented a fake company to take credit for it, and then assumed another identity to execute more pranks. Did he appear in any of the Metal Gear Solid games?
he didn't claim it was political at first. As usual it was gamers and the media. He just exploited the naivety of these socially challenged groups to crank up the volume to 11, but yeah it sounds like he could be one of those crazy characters in MGS2
@@0JuBiii Streets of SimCity also had that feature. And though these games are from 1996 and 1997 respectively, is there a newer city-building simulator that has a spinoff game where you can do that? If there is, I don't know it.
There was another lesser known easter egg in the game where there was a random chance that your bambi-bucket would pick up a swimmer. This was a reference to the old urban legend.
I remember that I was afraid of that as a child. Because that swimmer you pick up made weird noises. Weirder than other people in the Sim world. I always dropped him over the fire with the water. Most of the times I had a medical rescue then. xD
i still think this is one of the most replayable games ever, and it's absolutely unique and one of the games i want to make one day is base on the same concept, with endless freedom and procedurally generated quests that you can take or leave. I seriously cannot believe no one made a game in this vein again to this day.
A well put together mini-documentary. Another piece of trivia: although to my knowledge Servin didn't use the term "himbo" in any of his interviews about SimCopter, subsequent articles about the hack led to early uses of that word.
This is a great video! I know this is a long shot, but if you see this comment, could you tell me where to find the footage of W Bush's press release where he calls Exley a garbage man? I've heard the quote before but I'm dying to see the full thing
I always wondered as a kid why this sabotage was so apt, and it turns out that yes it is incredibly apparent to the point of meaning "The difference between men and womens armour in RPGs"
I stopped watching after he said, "Primitive 3D cities" @0:25. Like bruh looking in retrospective this primitive 3d cities is revolutionary in the 1996 heck even in 1996 there were only a few games that has this full city in 3D.

yeah showing everyone their kinks and fetishes is soooo funny...
Xanctus, i presume that you are just a homophobe - if it those stick figuest had boobs, you would not speak of kinks and fetishes..
lol what a creepy little turd. My God dating someone like him would be terrifying.
I loved this game, especially how you could load in your own simcity2000 save files and then fly around them
wow, that sounds amazing!

The Quintessential Trickster.
I'm amazed nobody made a feature film after this story, the premise is hysterical.

Chris, that was absolutely incredible.
Glad you liked it!

I loved Simcopter! I used to mod it and add my own stuff in. And the whole world building aspect of Simcopter and Simstreets was amazing.
for some reason I thought this game was only a fever dream while It was actually something I played ages ago
Oh no, it was. You also hallucinated this video.
How is this not a film? Seriously. The potential.
i looooooved this game as a kid. used to play it on my dads gateway laptop ❤
& to find out one of the yes men contributed to it?
Awesome video :)
One of the few games I actually want to receive a remake.
I'm seeing big things for this channel! BIG THINGS!
great stuff!

"Were there scantily clad femaless in the product?"
"No."
Dang, we'll get them next time
Wow, I knew about the Sim Copter easter egg but nothing about any of that other stuff! Cool!
That's hilarious. I saw The Yes Men movie back in 2003. I see they have another couple of docs since I must give them a look.
Subbed, bell notifications on :D Amazing video and amazing channel
Great one :) I might just go watch some of the "Yes Men" docos
They released the second one for free (in a 'P2P edition') so it's the easiest one to find. ua-cam.com/video/OazUh0Ym8rc/v-deo.html

neat
artmark sounds like a great idea tho
merci
"gay computer world"
How did you pack this much intrigue and history into 8 minutes? It's partly the strength of the story and partly your keen editorial eye. Loved this!
Wow the Yes Men sound hilarious 😂
miss chief
Looking back at this, it's no surprise that Will Wright's The Sims franchise continued to show support for queer relationships and characters.
Rediculous
Wow
I remember that as a kid, I thought it was hilarious. Seemed very harmless
멕시스.
Sounds like the prankster is a pathological liar, but the original prank was funny

How am I supposed 2 care about a game if they removed their gay muscle men ??

Relax bro. It wasn't a dig on the graphics, he was basically describing early 3d. Simcopters graphics are by definition "primitive 3d"/
If a programmer got fired for doing a gay thing today there would be riots
pff yeah sure
We already permit pedo marches and they have their own flag.
Sounds like we progressed as a society then.
