The Ball Trainmaster Moon Phase is a good conversation starter. People recognise it a quality watch, even if they don´t know the brand at all. The reflection of the dial in medium light is wonderful. If people comment on that, I let them partially cover the watch with their hand to see the lume. Everyone loves it.
I have noticed that GMT watches is mindblow thing for people who doesn't usually have any interest for watches or they just use smart watches. I bought Seiko 5 GMT last summer and I have been very surprised how much it got attention just because of extra hand. I got yesterday new Seiko GMT 383J1 and it started also conversation with my wife who asked "for God's sake why?"
Can confirm about the Bulova Computron. Its by far my most complimented watch and also the only one that triggers conversations, almost every time I wear it.
Now why do you care if someone compliments your watch. And why would you want a watch that’s a conversation starter? Are you that uninteresting that you need to rely on inanimate objects for conversation rather than your own personality?
For me, the Mühle Glashütte SAR (5:33) to deal with raging waves in stormy seas, and the MeisterSinger Lunascope (9:06) to watch time slowly go by without the sick rush (tick, tick, tick) of the second hand. Nice video, Teddy!
Any piece from Vacheron Constantin Métiers D’Art collection. Not that I would know, absurdly above my pay grade 😅. But they are incredible artistic watches with historical thematics.
All absolutely amazing pieces. I think the creativity put behind telling time in non-conventional ways adds even more intrigue to watches because, let's be honest, apart from us real enthusiasts, most folks nowadays rarely use wristwatches to tell time. From personal experience, I have an inexpensive drum roller watch that absolutely catches the curiosity and imagination of most people that I come across over all my other more conventional pieces. Great content as always Teddy!
Love this video Teddy, of all the watches I have (includes a few big name luxury brands that are easily recognisable) it's a little Luch 1 hander that I picked up from ebay for $40 that gets questions. Usually, is your watch broken, it's missing the hour hand!
I like watches that are more "out there" as for their designs. I own a Bulova Computron which does attract some attention. The watch that gets most interest though is a Future Funk watch- several watch enthusiasts have ordered one after they saw mine. It's a quartz watch that displays time using rotating drums, much like an old school odometer.
I think MAD 1 Red from MB&F should have made it to this list. Time is displayed as a roulette and the rotating Battle Axe rotor is quite badass. Never seen something like that.
Hallo Teddy, great video. I have the Hamilton you showed here, and people really do notice and ask me about it. And because of you I can answer about the history of this watch. Jacob watches are pieces of art. I love them. Good selection of interesting pieces. Thanks again, and as always, love from Switzerland 🇨🇭
I have the Meistersinger in an older model with a (modified) Unitas movement. Simpler dial, which I prefer to the moon/date model you showed. For conversations, I also like my glycine (pure) 24 hour airman. Yes, it's basically a GMT watch with the (regular) hour hand removed, but I like the 24 hour dial and the 24 hour bezel .
I really, really appreciate your use of the word unique. You use it correctly. You don't say "really unique" or "very unique". For those who don't know - something is either unique or it is not.
I love my Computron. It definitely makes a statement; I get compliments on it pretty often. Plus I could afford it. One day, though, I'd like to be in the market for that Reverso or that gorgeous VC. Jacob and Co. stuff is just nuts in the best way. I'm delighted that they exist, but probably won't even ever get to lay eyes on one.
Amazing video. The watches for my heart : LONGINES ZULU TIME ( Black and gold ) , JLC Reverso Chronograph tribute, Vacheron Constantin American 1921 (driver) .
Zodiac Sea Wolf. I didn’t think the guy at A. Lange and Sohne store was going to give it back! I also have the purple Seiko Rowing Blazers, love it too.
Funny enough the only watch that ever started a convo for me was my gray/blue AT41. It started with the guy saying "so Aqua Terra, interesting choice" lol And once I had a guy from across a mall yell at me "Green PRX" -- Thanks for that one, btw, Teddy.
Nice list Teddy of crazy watches. Here's a little history thought about the design of the VC with the drivers dial. Illinois Watch Company did a watch with a dial like that for machine gunners during WW1. It was at the very beginning of what we know as wrist watches where it was a pocket watch with welded on lugs and a dial like this. The history of this is in a five volume history of the company if interested.
The Vacheron driver’s watch is stunning. A bit out of my budget though. I do own the Seiko Rowing Blazers in purple and it is noticed and a beautiful watch. I’ve always been drawn to the Rado Diastar as well. While I am an Omega fanboy I do love an oddball watch with different design and/or colors.
The Ressence Type 3 BBB is a dream watch of mine. The brand is underrated in my opinion. They really are doing something no one else is doing. Always love to see someone talk about the brand.
I'd say my Xeric Halograph catches the most attention from people. My Ciga Z series is a pretty close second. My Seiko metronome holds people's attention longer when I show them the function
The watch that I have had the most comments about and I have owned and worn a lot of watches over the last 30 years is the Omega Railmaster XXL. I do often wear it with different nato straps, some quite colourful. But even with the brown alligator strap it gets comments. Even though it 49mm face I can still wear it with a shirt.
I was in an airport bar a few months back and was waiting in line to get a couple of beers. This guy commented on my watch, which I've never had from a stranger before. I'll be honest it threw me and I assumed he was on the pickup. Luckily the barman started to serve me which saved me from a "hey what are you wearing, is your watch better/more expensive/bigger than mine" conversation.
The retail on the celebration dial is hilarious. Currently Moda has a listing for 40k on the 36mm. And an auction ending tomorrow for a 41mm that is currently at 26k
I love my Mr Jones Watch. Love the "Beam me up!" Get lots of comments. Interestingly people really like the suede strap as well. It's unusual to see on a watch.
Personally, across the board you get the most conversation with a Swatch or Mr Jones, as they are the most distinct and colorful. These might catch the eye of a more discerning watch enthusiast, that is if they notice (usually few and far between).
I've had a Zodiac Jetomatic for the last three years or so and it's just a fantastic watch to facilitate a conversation. I also have a Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 75 and a Citizen Promaster Auto 200m but the Jetomatic Pilot style watch seems to catch people's eye.
Oddly enough the two watches I get compliments on are the two cheapest ones in my collection. A Frederique constant classics in rose gold and My Seiko 5 srpd61. Every time I wear either of those watches I get lots of comments and compliments especially the FC.
'That watch had electricity in it.' That's an interesting way to describe those pre-quartz electric movements. I'm pretty sure all quartz watches 'have electricity in them' today.
Hey Teddy! Great content! I am interested in the Longines Spirit Zuu Time 39mm but I have a 6 in wrist and worried that the male endlink would possibly make it too long for me. What has been your experience with this on the wrist? Thanks!
Well these watches really would make great conversation. Looking at the Ressence type 3BB would be the type of watch when I was a young kid I'd imagine to be strapped to a time Travelers wrist. Very futuristic but not too over the top.
Could someone point me to any articles or videos about the JLC Master SECTOR dial Pretty watch. Can’t find any to buy online. Teddy, do a video on this underrated watch so I can justify buying it
Although I own and love my Mühle S.A.R. Rescue Timer Lumen and I definitely think it has a very unusual look, nobody ever commented on it. The watches I own that definitely started a conversation were the Xeric Halograph Chrono Sapphire, the Eone Bradley Edge Black and the Qlocktwo 39. So my advice would be: If you buy a conventional, expensive and well crafted watch, buy it because you love it. And be aware you might well be the only one who really appreciates it in person. If you buy a Rolex, buy another expensive thing as well. A suit, a boat, a car... Otherwise people will assume it is fake. If you want to stick out of the crowd, choose something really out there. Something really nuts. 😅

Great video as always
….and not forgetting the Apple Watch, which can start a conversation literally if it thinks you said Siri
I’d add Mr Jones watches. They’re affordable, have really fun designs and are handmade in the UK.
They're just fun -- a bunch of them are impossible to tell what time it is, but who cares!? They're just hilarious and adorable.
I was going to say that, I love both of my mr jones
Speaking of Ball watches, they have quite a few which spell out the numbers on the dial using tritium tubes. Super cool and unique looking.
Nice to see Ball get some well deserved respect and love.
Covid ruined my social skills so I need a $100,000 watch as a conversation opener 💀
This list is for me! 🤘🏼 I love odd unique pieces. Video idea is to do a watch collection video with Mr wonderful on watches like this.
Mine is Mr Jones A Perfectly Wasted Afternoon automatic. I always get people ask about it when I'm wearing it.
Any piece from Vacheron Constantin Métiers D’Art collection. Not that I would know, absurdly above my pay grade 😅. But they are incredible artistic watches with historical thematics.
I have the Ventura, not my most expensive or personal favorite…but it always gets questions. Love the videos!
Great video. I really enjoy these videos that showcase a variety of watches instead of focusing on one watch or one brand.
wow hadn't seen the seiko x rowing blazers one before, I love it in purple omg
I get more conversation with my Mental Hospital Bracelet
All absolutely amazing pieces. I think the creativity put behind telling time in non-conventional ways adds even more intrigue to watches because, let's be honest, apart from us real enthusiasts, most folks nowadays rarely use wristwatches to tell time. From personal experience, I have an inexpensive drum roller watch that absolutely catches the curiosity and imagination of most people that I come across over all my other more conventional pieces. Great content as always Teddy!
While shopping here in the uk I get loads of conversation and interest in my Mido Celebracion. It’s more beautiful in real life 😁
Just LOVE the VC 1921.
I have a Zelos with the bronze case and white dial that I've picked up a few compliments on.
Love this video Teddy, of all the watches I have (includes a few big name luxury brands that are easily recognisable) it's a little Luch 1 hander that I picked up from ebay for $40 that gets questions. Usually, is your watch broken, it's missing the hour hand!
0:50 : amazing sync shot :) Congrats :)

It's a quartz watch that displays time using rotating drums, much like an old school odometer.
just checked out the Future Funk collection, such an interesting watch and cheap as chips too. Going to order one. Thanks for the tip
The jlc reverso is my favorite watch it just looks so elegant yet so cool. I love that thing
Love that Ressence Type 3BB!
I think MAD 1 Red from MB&F should have made it to this list. Time is displayed as a roulette and the rotating Battle Axe rotor is quite badass. Never seen something like that.
Thank you Teddy for showing some new watches I haven’t seen before.
Love the Muhle Glashutte. A tank of a watch that wears smaller than its size indicates and looks super cool in the dark.
I've got the Seiko 5 Rowing Blazer in purple. Will be wearing it tonight. Great watch
Nice! I was so so so tempted to buy one; gorgeous watch.
What about the Bel Canto? That should have been on the list.
Different type of video and well done! The watch that grabbed my attention the most is the Ball with the glow in the dark colors!
Picked up the purple Seiko Blazer because of this. Thanks!
I really, really appreciate your use of the word unique. You use it correctly. You don't say "really unique" or "very unique". For those who don't know - something is either unique or it is not.
Start time stamping your vids.
He definitely used to
ok
I hope you didn‘t mean it as rude as it sounded
You time stamp his videos and post it in the comments.
done.
Teddy, how did you forget to mention the Girard Perregaux Kamasutra Watch??? THAT starts a conversation... and lots more! 😉
The Type 3 is absolutely stunning and beautiful . It's like a revolution
amazing design language, but i have no idea who buys these. for the price of one type 3, i can get a very nice watch collection.
Amazing video. The watches for my heart : LONGINES ZULU TIME ( Black and gold ) , JLC Reverso Chronograph tribute, Vacheron Constantin American 1921 (driver) .
Mr. Jones watches and Swatch watches are the real conversation starters
Zodiac Sea Wolf. I didn’t think the guy at A. Lange and Sohne store was going to give it back! I also have the purple Seiko Rowing Blazers, love it too.
Probably the omega equinoxe due to it having a reverso style but with one digital face and one analog face.
A little surprised the Accutron DNA didn't make list but some gems in this video for sure.
Teddy, when you sell (any of) the watches that are featured in a video like this, is the video a review, or an ad?
The Nixion Dork Too is a cool watch that can start a conversation.
Accutron spaceview 2020?
Yes, yes. Glad someone mentioned that, thank you!
Funny enough the only watch that ever started a convo for me was my gray/blue AT41. It started with the guy saying "so Aqua Terra, interesting choice" lol
And once I had a guy from across a mall yell at me "Green PRX" -- Thanks for that one, btw, Teddy.
Why was such a popular model as AT an "interesting choice" according to him?
Nice list Teddy of crazy watches. Here's a little history thought about the design of the VC with the drivers dial. Illinois Watch Company did a watch with a dial like that for machine gunners during WW1. It was at the very beginning of what we know as wrist watches where it was a pocket watch with welded on lugs and a dial like this. The history of this is in a five volume history of the company if interested.
The skx007. The watch that got me into watches - any time I see one I tell the wearer nice watch
Argon Spaceone would also be a good fit within this list ..
I would add Brew Metric - Retro Dial in this list as well. Very fun watch and definitely catch a lot of people's attention .
Ulysse nardin makes some of the most interesting watches in the world. I hope to get a freak someday.
Ressence! OMG what an original piece of art!
The Ressence Type 3 BBB is a dream watch of mine. The brand is underrated in my opinion. They really are doing something no one else is doing. Always love to see someone talk about the brand.
I’ve got my eye on the Xeric Tryptech, unique wandering hour display for a good price
Rolex conversation starter : « gimme your watch motherf…r»
I'd say my Xeric Halograph catches the most attention from people. My Ciga Z series is a pretty close second. My Seiko metronome holds people's attention longer when I show them the function
Zodiac Olympos I think would make this list if they brought back the mystery dial. Never understood why that was a limited reissue.
Love the FM Crazy Hour!
Time stamps please .it's a must especially in these long videos
Zomg my attention span is too short ... fml ...
Ok Teddy, this video just catapulted my enthusiasm to a whole new level.
That Ressence tYPE 3BB is the coolest timepiece Ive ever seen.
Hi Teddy, I like your videos very much, you always bring a sophisticated monologue. But I wonder why not mention Urwerk models?
The watch that I have had the most comments about and I have owned and worn a lot of watches over the last 30 years is the Omega Railmaster XXL. I do often wear it with different nato straps, some quite colourful. But even with the brown alligator strap it gets comments. Even though it 49mm face I can still wear it with a shirt.
The Citizen JY series is definitely a conversation starter.
My blue Casio Duro gets a lot of compliments. People are surprised to heat it is a Casio.
The retail on the celebration dial is hilarious. Currently Moda has a listing for 40k on the 36mm. And an auction ending tomorrow for a 41mm that is currently at 26k
A full list without Omega Teddy !!!!! The aqua terra shades with the terracotta dial deserves a place in that list.
I love my Mr Jones Watch. Love the "Beam me up!" Get lots of comments. Interestingly people really like the suede strap as well. It's unusual to see on a watch.
I get a lot of compliments on my Arnold & Son Globetrotter. It is totally unique.
My Oris Roberto Clemente gets complimented more than anything else. I'm not sure why, since it's not especially colorful or eye-catching.
Enjoyed it, thx Teddy 👍🏻
Casio Data Bank CA53W-1. I've had more people strike up a conversation on this watch than any other I own. Lot of nostalgia for folks.
Oddly enough the two watches I get compliments on are the two cheapest ones in my collection. A Frederique constant classics in rose gold and My Seiko 5 srpd61. Every time I wear either of those watches I get lots of comments and compliments especially the FC.
My conversation pieces include My Bulova Accutron Spaceview from 1971, Rado Diastar and Hamilton Ventura
Do you know if Longines plan to offer the gold version of Zulu time in the 42mm size?
Interesting the 2 watches that I own are also the cheapest ones I own. The Hamilton PSR in gold and a vintage Seiko Chronos Special from 1962
Great list, but I think that you may have missed one...Christopher Ward C1 Bel Canto 🙂
Love watching your watch ⌚ videos.
The Jacob&Co is a grail watch 😍
'That watch had electricity in it.'
That's an interesting way to describe those pre-quartz electric movements.
Thanks!
That Ressence is amazing. Amazingly expensive!
@Teddy Baldassarre do you know any affordable yet well made automatic watch with 24h timemode? a watch with only one hand and in bauhaus style?
Well these watches really would make great conversation. Looking at the Ressence type 3BB would be the type of watch when I was a young kid I'd imagine to be strapped to a time Travelers wrist. Very futuristic but not too over the top.
It looks so cool. Would love to try one.
Years ago I decided to buy a Meistersinger when I retire and enjoy the moment without stress 😎
How do I sign up?
Great video, Teddy!
Oris Kermit is probably my favorite, but the price is just nuts.
I REALLY want a DateJust Palm Frond dial, partly for this reason
Oh yeah
Could someone point me to any articles or videos about the JLC Master SECTOR dial
Pretty watch. Can’t find any to buy online. Teddy, do a video on this underrated watch so I can justify buying it
Thank you for s fun video 👍
Although I own and love my Mühle S.A.R. Rescue Timer Lumen and I definitely think it has a very unusual look, nobody ever commented on it. The watches I own that definitely started a conversation were the Xeric Halograph Chrono Sapphire, the Eone Bradley Edge Black and the Qlocktwo 39.

My WWI Trench Watch with a crystal guard is by far my most commented on watch.
