  • Gorilla Chases Stray Dog That Entered Enclosure at San Diego Zoo
    A gorilla was recorded chasing after a stray dog that managed to enter its enclosure at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido, California, on June 12.
    Video recorded by Desteniey Pickett shows a dog running from one side of the enclosure to the other, as a large gorilla named Frank stomps closely behind.
    The two animals engage in a cat-and-mouse chase for a majority of the video, as onlookers can be heard shouting the gorilla’s name in hopes of distracting the ape. A zookeeper can be seen later in the video throwing in feed from above the habitat, also with the intention of distracting the gorilla.
    “I was worried the silverback was going to grab the dog,” Pickett told Storyful. “I was very anxious the entire time, waiting for employees to come.”
    According to a KUSI journalist, the San Diego Zoo Safari Park made a statement saying the dog was “successfully removed and no Safari Park animals, staff, or guests were harmed.”
    Local news reported that the dog was a shepherd with no microchip, and he was currently being held on stray hold as they searched for a potential owner.

    The gorilla didn't want to hurt the doggo, he just wanted it off his property. Kind of like a grumpy old man.

    The main troop (Winston family) was in the back bedrooms behind the tan wall. The gorillas that were out in the enclosure were Franklin (Frank 13) and Monroe (11) part of the Winston family, a bachelor troop. Both are still considered "black backs". Even though Frank is still a boy he is 400lbs (his dad Paul Donn 450+lbs) and if Frank really wanted to catch the dog he would have, rest assured. I've followed Frank since he was born, and knowing his personality he just wanted to chase the dog out of the enclosure mostly. Looking at the video there are periods where both Frank and the dog stop and stare at each other. Frank is fairly light on his feet, and can move fast. I've seen him sprint on a whim, and run at top speeds. He could have very easily pounced on the dog when the dog stopped running, but he certainly did not. Captive born gorillas behave a bit differently from those born in the wild. Though he is still a wild animal Frank is rather "domesticated" and loves his amenities and treats 😆. That is why he said forget the dog, the keeper is calling me 🤣. It may not look like it by his sheer massive size, but Frank's actually got a rather cheeky, and loving personality:

      ua-cam.com/video/W8uWzu_DwLw/v-deo.html
      I think Monroe went in when called. Frank was just trying to get the dog out. As you can see from the video Frank stops when the dog stops. If Frank wanted to really catch the dog he would have, but my teen boy was skeptical of the 4 legged fido. Wow just think about it. Frank probably had never seen a 🐩 dog and up close. Gorillas do not attack unless absolutely necessary. Frank's personality...well he eventually came when called because he'd much rather have his delicious treats than be running after a UFO (unidentified fido object) in the hot sun 😂. Man, I love me some 💙 Frank and Monroe!

    This is proof that a gorilla would destroy a wolf in combat!! I know they don't actually fight but I think a lot of people would agree with me that if that German Shepherd decided to attack it would get destroyed it's also kind of contradicts the leopard thing where apparently gorillas are more afraid in certain scenarios well as we can see this isn't just some old dog it's a German Shepherd and apparently they can beat wolves sometimes and wolves are pretty much predators obviously dogs aren't predators but the gorilla could have perceived a dog as one and didn't show any signs of fear it was even bold enough to try and throw some sand at it and when the dog got closer it barely showed any reaction and was ready for anything!!! Like I said they don't really fight each other I think we can all agree the gorilla clearly isn't scared which definitely increases its chances of victory to be honest the dog was likely playing around but the gorilla clearly wasn't and perceived it as a threat and like I said it was even bold enough to throw sand at it and even try to chase it down when it left so this is kind of proof that when faced with potential predators like a beer or a lion or something like that the gorilla definitely wouldn't hesitate and who knows maybe that can be seen as a strategy throwing sand to your opponent's eye would definitely blind them and would give you a decent advantage when fighting I'm making note of this because gorillas are heavily underrated believe it or not people think they would lose to almost every other animal with claws even a lot smaller ones in the main argument is that they're rather peaceful and would even rather run away which is the main explanation for why they apparently get bodied by leopards since they don't even try to fight back most of the time but clearly this video contradicts that what makes it even more impressive is that this gorilla likely has never grown up in a wild before and yet it showed no signs of fear when confronting a potential predator so imagine how a wild gorilla would act make an even more unlikely that leopards really go after and can even kill fully adult gorillas it also gives the gorilla a decent advantage when fighting a lion or a bear because it definitely wouldn't run away and it will even throw sand in the enemies face which could definitely increases it's odds of victory since if aimed correctly the opponent will probably go blind but anyway the point is they didn't actually fight so we can argue all day who would win you already know who I'm siding with but we should definitely keep in mind the gorillas aren't cowardly and will definitely confront the intruder or any potential threat

      A grizzly, however, would destroy a gorilla. Leopards literally hunt gorillas, and even kill silverbacks sometimes (and silverbacks return the favor-it’s about a 50/50 proposition). Grizzlies are five to ten times bigger than a leopard.

    • @basedmonke3385
      @basedmonke3385 2 роки тому +2

      @@eliteteamkiller319 Nope leopards don't hunt Silverback gorilla they hunt female and juvenile gorilla. The only times a leopard has ever killed a silveback gorilla was by ambush at night time when Gorilla was asleep and couldn't see. I have cases of Gorilla fighting back and killing leopards. I've also debunked a case of black panther killing a Silverback gorilla. So in reality a Silverback gorilla claps a leopard.
      But of course a grizzly bear would demolish a gorilla no doubt about that grizzly bear even claps tigers and lions.

    • @eliteteamkiller319
      @eliteteamkiller319 2 роки тому

      @@basedmonke3385 I literally just read a peer reviewed study from the American Journal of Primatology in which it was "strongly suspected" that three male gorillas which were found dead, including two silverbacks (one was in poor health, but the other not), were killed by leopard predation.
      I mean they looked at the bodies. They saw the marks. It's possible they died of poison or something, but those corpses had leopard bite and claw marks on them.
      The study is "Social Structure and Life-History Patterns in Western
      Gorillas (Gorilla gorilla gorilla)." Your thoughts?
      .
      .
      .
      And i didn't say silverbacks never killed leopards. I said it's probably a 50/50 proposition, with both killing each other a good possibility. Gorillas do not have body armor, dude. If the leopard gets its teeth in the gorilla, that's not a good thing my man.
      .
      .
      Also, I'm not so sure a grizzly would always beat a tiger (Siberian, anyway). They are not that different in size, and cats are better designed for killing, to be frank.

    • @basedmonke3385
      @basedmonke3385 2 роки тому

      @@eliteteamkiller319
      Once again it doesn't matter if there is a case of a leopard killing a Silverback gorilla because it's 99% of the time by ambush and at night time. Plus gorillas are way larger and stronger a 180-200 kg gorilla is clapping a leopard which is half that size face to face yes gorillas have thin skin but they won't die from getting a few scratch marks and it's going to be difficult trying to reach the vital areas of a gorilla face to face.
