    What is the difference between Venmo or Paypal Transferring money? Doesn't it transfer instantly?

    • @mikenard5801
      @mikenard5801 6 років тому

      Yes for the USER, they are front end solutions. PayPal and Venmo, and the institutions they settle with, don't get instant settlement between each other. Thats what they charge you for, they take the settlement risk and time, and credit you. XRapid and xrp is a solution for PayPal.

  • @fidlaf1

    XRP the fastest, cheapest, most decentralised, environment friendly, scale able. Ripple, is such a good bridge currency, by design. The more Ripple enlarges the pie of currency transferability the more the other cryptos, (those with sound use cases), will prosper.

  • @michael2275

    Problem with xrp is that it's holders that give a coin value not transactors who hold it for fractions of a second as an intermediary. One 15 year old holding $500 of a coin for the long term is more valuable to that coin than an institution moving millions but only holding for 0.1 seconds. Think about that. Also they missed the part where ripple the company decides who is able to be a node on the permissioned network which is at the core of the consensus mechanism. Therefore it is highly centralized contrary to whatever they say. Better to just buy and hold bitcoin.

    • @stuarth4296
      @stuarth4296 6 років тому +2

      Yeah, BTC, the coin that has almost all of its hash rate and mining controlled in China. Nice try Mike. And 52 percent of XRP's validators are outside of Ripple's control. Did you miss that on their website?

    • @michael2275
      @michael2275 6 років тому +1

      Outside their control does not mean that they aren't installed and 'allowed' to be nodes by ripple which is the case. Bottom line is that they could easily be compelled by government to censor transactions or freeze funds. Not censorship resistant means it has no value as a store of value. Mining in china is by many players that have all invested millions and even billions in mining bitcoin. They have a huge incentive to protect the value of bitcoin and are fierce competitors not an organized group. Not to mention that most of the pools you refer to as Chinese now have most of their hash power located all over the world due to crack down on mining in China on mining. Learn game theory and you will understand why POW and specifically bitcoin will always be king. If not the market will punish you for your ignorance in due course.

    • @stuarth4296
      @stuarth4296 6 років тому +2

      @@michael2275 And Ripple does not have a huge incentive to make sure XRP does well? Half this space says its a security which means Ripple would have a duty well beyond BTC miners to make sure XRP profited. However, it fails under the SEC v. Howey test and is besides the point. The point is the company Ripple has a fiduciary interest in that all of their products, including the ones that use XRP, do well. That is the law. That is how it is when you run a business. It does not mean they control every facet of it any more than Burger King controls franchises. But they do have a direct vested interest. I am also long on BTC so I do not need to learn anything about Proof of Work or the advantages, and am also long on DigiByte. I just get tired of the disinfo on XRP.

    • @michael2275
      @michael2275 6 років тому

      The point is that with bitcoin code is law and it is independent of government action completely. With ripple there is one entity for the government to bend to it's will which is doable. With bitcoin you would have to convince at least a couple dozen people to act against their interest and even then a successful attack is not guaranteed. Real decentralization like in bitcoin enables the store of value use case which is the biggest use case by orders of magnitude imo.

    • @stuarth4296
      @stuarth4296 6 років тому +1

      @@michael2275 Not going to argue with you on the government angle, but BTC is on too many centralized exchanges like Coinbase which volunteers tax info to the US government and the Feds have been able to trace BTC transactions for some time on the blockchain. I used to live near Ft Meade Md. And have a buddy in NSA and they are all over it. The sooner BTC and other Proof coins can detatch from these centralized exchanges with KYC the better if you want to avoid government interference.

    Still feel that BTC is the standard to beat. xrp is not fairly distributed. IIRC, no one is allowed to verify the first xrp transactions... so much for being open and decentralized.

    • @mikenard5801
      @mikenard5801 6 років тому

      xrp is fairly distributed. Anyone with an email got 1000 xrp for free every email they made. BTC users had to mine or pay miners for them.

    • @SAL-fs1mr
      @SAL-fs1mr 6 років тому

      It's really the ripple company deciding how and when they got distributed / will get distributed. A fair way of distribution would be an open and algorithmic process that is available to everyone worldwide without a central entity deciding how to distribute the tokens (Bitcoin mining process). At this time >50% of the total xrp is held by one company.

    • @mikenard5801
      @mikenard5801 6 років тому

      SAL once again not fair. To be fair a user has to build mining farms. A solo miner can’t even gain any amount of btc without a pool. Majority of assets are mined by mining farms and SOLD to the public. If XRP Ledger doesn’t like how ripple distributed the holdings, the community can fork off as already stated.

    • @SAL-fs1mr
      @SAL-fs1mr 6 років тому

      Just because mining isn't cheap doesn't mean it isn't fair - if you want to mine bitcoin, you have to expend the required energy the bitcoin ecosystem and market is demanding - that's fair, anyone is free to dedicate their time to pursue that if they so wish. Let's flip this around to further illustrate my point: you mentioned i can get 1000xrp for my email - how can i do this?? Is this process available to me right now??

    Smaller companies will flock to them, this is a great opportunity for them to get an edge. Their large competitors may not be able to move as quickly. Great opportunity for startups to utilize the XRP ecosystem for their buisiness.
    But why does Schwartz sounds like an robot?

      Exactly. Noobs dont realize what is crypto all about. Name of the game is DECENTRALIZED CENSORSHIP RESISTANCE. Ripple doesnt even play this game.

      @@TheBigVizard Except the coin is XRP, not Ripple, and it is only 48 percent node centralized via Ripple. That means the 52 percent of validators are outside of Ripple and XRP is not centralized any more than BTC is centralized by having almost all mining going through China which is a national security risk, among other things. Some censorship resistance. Using the most repressive country for hash rate power. You sound like the noob...You use China, I will skip that nonsense...

    Interesting but, little too quick for me to understand what all Ripple is doing. Got that XRP and Ripple are not the same but, why would banks want to use your software if they get paid for moving money and XRP is going to bypass banks to move money quicker and cheaper? Or, are the banks still going to get paid to move that money faster and cheaper? I mean, I could send someone Overseas, XRP right now but, they would still need a crypto exchange to convert to their preferred currency. I guess i would like a simple explanation as to how these transactions will all take place when perfected. Peace!

      Because if the banks don't use it their competitors already are, and they will be selling an expensive slow service.

      Xrapid takes charge of all that process you described , if someone sends money from the US to Japan , than the process would look something like this : USD -> XRP -> JPY , and as you can see during this process , the xrp transaction gets done in seconds , and because of that the volatility would not be a big problem , and the whole process takes minutes .
      The banks will use Xrapid because its cheaper , faster and more efficient than the other ways of moving money , and it looks more attractive between pairs of currencies with not enough liquidity like Mexico - Philippines .

      Also, xrp settlement gets rid of the need to have billions of dollars in the nostro vostro accounts. It brings liquidity to settlements and reduces the exposure to volatility in the various currencies using current methods in use by swift. Xrp is creating a new internet of value. Fast, secure, and decentralized.
