    Thanks so much, I am a 64 year old from New Orleans & this is what I needed. I have bought a lot of the popular units and sold them because they were over my head. This I understand!

    Yep. you can have up to nine effects per patch (but one is automatically taken up by a Z-pedal effect, which you can bypass though). There are amp and stomp effects available. Also, if you see that arrow in the bottom left corner of the left-most lcd, that means that there are more effect slots to the left, and not just the right.

  • @lovescarguitar
    @lovescarguitar 12 років тому +1

    That's pretty impressive. So just for kicks, you could run 9 amp sims, or 9 delays, etc...? no limit to what you can combine?

  • @darylwinn7507
    @darylwinn7507 8 років тому +1

    I've had several multi-effect pedals like this and I would rather have stomp boxes. Why, well, these multi-effect pedals all click rather louidly when you want to change effects and there is a slight delay before the new patch kicks in. You don't get that with stomp boxes so I think I will stick with them. You have a nice guitar though.

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  11 років тому

    Essentially, yes. Different guitar pedals do it a little differently from each other. With this specific pedal, a patch consists of a combination of rack effects, stomboxes, and amps to create basically one complete live setup per patch.

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  11 років тому

    Yes to all of that. You can even change how much vibrato is changed and what parameter of that vibrato pedal is changed if you move it to the right. For example, on my solo/lead patch I like to have it affect the wah going up and down, pitch drop to infinity going left, and pitch up an octave going right.

    I honestly haven't even met someone who has the pod hd500, so I can't really tell you much. It does look like a sweet pedal, though. I'd say just go watch other reviews. The hd500 has been out for a while, so there are probably plenty. I bought my first pedal from zoom in middle school because I was a little pre-teen with no money, and I've always kind of rooted for them since because they are always trying new things, being unique, and thinking outside the box.

    Nice review! I have this and it's easy to use. There are some many preset patches you'll never use... the best thing about this unit is that it has 40+ stomp boxes built in and can be adjusted as you would a real pedal and you can have multiple repeats of any of the pedals -like two tube screams - one set to clean the other dirty. Sounds amazing... same with delay... multiple delays at different timings... hours of fun.
    The noise gates are ace too! Something most people need but don't buy.lol

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  12 років тому

    Maybe, you could buy a G3 and a G5, and put the pedals between the two. Expensive, but that's the best I got. Happy you liked the review!

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  12 років тому

    It does not have a feedbacker, but the Z-Pedal does have some weird sounding effects that does things that kind of sound like feedback...check out the Boss FB-2 though. Quick tip: if you want feedback, don't just put the guitar in front of the amp, but actually touch the body of the guitar to the body of the amp. That gives you feedback at lower volumes and pitches.

    Because I'm thinking to change my Boss ME 70 and I'm looking for all the info about every option I can have and your review was very precise and complete :) Now I have a better idea about this pedal.

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  12 років тому

    I don't believe you can do that on the memory boy. The knob says something like "time". That's what an analog delay is. Something simple with just knobs. playing quarter notes or dotted 8ths depends on the tempo you choose to play in relation with the delay time. It's harder to do that on analogs, because they're just finnicky knobs, but digitals do that stuff great. I'll put a link in the description for specific stompbox info.

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  12 років тому

    Zoom's main competitor, Boss, has the new GT-100. Both pedals are 44.1 khz. It really still depends on what you want. Zoom is still unbeaten for its innovation (stompbox/multi-fx hybrid...FOR $300), and creative tools, but Boss still kills for its sound quality and dedication to the original sound source. I don't mind that much, because I usually end up layering guitars anyway, and then a minuscule loss in sound quality is unnoticeable. Again, it all depends on what your looking for.

    Kool video. I have a G5 and want to create a Rotary patch where the up and down pedal controls volume and the side to side thing controls the slow to fast Leslie sound. I cannot figure it out. Can you tell me how to do this in the simplest terms? Thanx!

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  11 років тому

    Craptons. There are all sorts of reverb. I do have one beef though! There is a singular "mix" knob on the reverbs, as opposed to one "wet" and one "dry". Most guitarists are used to "mix" knobs, but I'm a DAW techie, and sometimes I like to completely cut out the dry signal, and "mix" knobs don't quite go that far. I've worked around it though, so it's not a huge issue.

    Thanks for your response, i'm thinking of going with the zoom g5 looks alot simpler than the hd500 and couple of hundred bucks cheaper too! I have a v-amp 2 (pretty old) but i really haven't gotten to reading all the manuals to do the things i want.

    Great review, one of the best on UA-cam! Fast, efficient, the pros and the cons are here... How does it sound straight into the PA or Mixing desk with the balanced out? Does it have the "punch"? :)
    Cheers!

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  12 років тому

    Live? Will work fine. With enough noise (and loud drummers), any sound quality difference will be unnoticeable. May be a little robotic for the studio, but what octave up pedal isn't? Any octave pedal will always sound a little strange, because you aren't physically playing the note an octave up, the computer has to simulate that, and it can never be done perfectly. Personally, I like a little robot sound. It gives it a synthesizer feel.

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  12 років тому

    I see three things happening: one, look to see if there are simulators in the pedal (check the listings on the downloadable manual off the website. Two: buy two G5s and put the pedals between them. Three: there may be some fancy wiring hack you can do, if you're good at that stuff. Otherwise, I don't know.

    forgive me if im insistend on this doubt , but my situation is the following : i have a nice sound ampli , i dont wanna change it , but it hasnt a line-out :P . if im right , with g5 i could use both audio output : to the ampli (to hear myself playing) , and to the mixer for stage diffusion . thx again for patience and answers ^_^

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  12 років тому

    I actually did that. you can make a great ambient sound by using one delay, and then a bunch of reverbs (I think I used five) with the mix turned all the way up. Then you're pretty much left with a ringing angelic sound. (check out "Prima Donna" by Chevelle for an example) It's called a "blur pad".

    When you´re satisfied with a patch and wants to rename it, just press "total" in the chassi, and you enter the option where you can rename the patch, among other options.

  • @futurerocker77

    Depends on what you want. Telling from the knobs and the way the me70 is set up and what I've heard about it, it seems to geared to a player that likes the "classic" sound and setup; with knobs and clean/dirty channels and "non-digital crap" and the like. The hd500 is a little more pricey way to make sounds (given, the me70 isn't cheap either), and it seems to be modeled similar to a rack digital multi-FX, except on the floor. The G5 tries to bridge both ends of the spectrum with a low price.

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  11 років тому

    It really isn't difficult. The difficult part is switching between the "home screen" (displays your patch/effect setup) and the patch select screen. You have to hold a button down for a couple seconds to switch. It's not that bad, but if you're on the fly playing some nasty solo and need to switch between those two screens for some reason, it can be a bit distracting. Switching patches, itself, is simple: 3 patches per bank. Press two pedals at the same time to switch up or down banks. Hit

    The tuner does everything. It can be chromatic (what I use because I go between drop-D, standard, and DADGAD pretty frequently), string numbers I think, standard, and any number of tunings. I'm pretty darn sure it would do extended range fine because the bassist in the band has used it to tune multiple times. So unless your guitar is tuned lower than a bass...it will probably work. :D

    Zoom G5 or Fender Mustang Floor?
    I play a mixture of guitar genres, rock, acoustic and various riffs. I'm open to any views and opinions, thanks for your help
    Great review by the way!

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  12 років тому

    Last time I checked, they were the same price. The reason the G9 is less expensive is probably just because it's been out longer. If it's as cheep as you say it is, then Zoom is probably going to come out soon with a product (mythical G8?) that blows both of these out the of water.

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  11 років тому

    In the past, zoom has always tried to do this, with much hate from the general public because it sounds "cheap" and "digital" (whatever the heck that means), but people still fork out the cash for the hd500 because of its name and because the hd500 and me70 often sounds good right out of the box. The G5 is excellent because Zoom seems to have upped the sound quality, and maybe if it is still "digital", a little tweaking (I think) can fix it. There are a few drawbacks, but that's the gist.

    There are two different save options. Auto save and manual. I've always used auto, so basically whenever I change anything on the pedal, it stays that way. No buttons to store it or anything. But, you can easily swap, duplicate, store, and switch patches easily with the buttons on the top.

    dude, thx for your review. Its good. But you can to make review about effects like distrotion? I mean...I want to heard more different sound. And my questions number 2. This processor has effect like feedback or not? P.S. sorry my strange english XD

  • @futurerocker77
    @futurerocker77  11 років тому

    You could...depends on what you're trying to do. Would you want to use it as a full vocals effects processor, then I wouldn't get this. This is meant for guitars. Now, if you're aiming for some weird, out-of-the-box sound effects every once in a while, then this might be pretty cool. I've actually used my pedal to do some megaphone effects in the past.

    hi dont go for POD HD 500, though they offer HD amp, but there are lots of issue with line6. like screen goes blank, software issue, latency issue. i had pod hd500 and i sell it , i agree they sound better than g5. but if u really looking for multi fx go for zoom, they make really good stuff, i had my first zoom 505 II and its still working, no issue yet, and now g5. not much difference than pod hd 500, later u can buy Axe fx rather than pod hd500. ;)

    Go through the Amp models? I have the G3 so I know a bit about the device, But I wanted to see how the G5 does with Mixing amp models to get heavier and awesome metal tones, Plus I wanted to see how those new amp models fair against the G3s older ones.

  • @rudicci
    @rudicci 12 років тому

    Honesty. It is an amazing pedal I have to say. Easy to use, great tone, hard-ass metal body, works perfectly on stage and have the exact amount of effects(nothing crazy)...but about the time I wrote the comment, I had some extra cash and I was thinking about buying something a little bit more digital(USB connection, Midi, etc)...but after researching and thinking...the ME 70 is perfect for me :P So, the G5 is great too, but if you want something straight forward and with great tones... get one!

  • @rudicci
    @rudicci 12 років тому

    (cont) of course... It doesn't have all the extra gadgets, like drum machine, LED graphic screen, the effect chain is the same. USB connection, blah blah... This is a plug in-Play on pedal. you don't need a NASA manual to created a tone and if you added the extra footswitches (FS-6, which practicly came with it on amazon) You are going to solve the bank changing difficulties. So, if you are looking for something like that. Go ahead :)

    Please Tell me if this is correct. The patch consists of the combined sound of the effects pedals with the chosen parameters; you can not look at and adjust individual pedals within a patch on the Z 5 but must do so within software on computer?

  • @ZoomGuitar1
    @ZoomGuitar1 12 років тому

    Hi there, I'm thinking of buying one of these, and a big factor for me is the octave up effect on the expression pedal. I read a review of the G3 where the guitarist thought the effect made the sound too thin. I notice in your demo that it sounded almost robotic. In you experience, is the effect use-able, or is it not up to par?

    Yes! I love the S-Series. The ZR trem is to freakin die for. And yet if you go to any given guitar store, you could find 100s of fenders and not one Ibanez S-Series. I also want a PRS really badly, especially now that they added the carved top to the new SE models! That was literally the only reason for me not getting one. I just think flat tops look ugly IMO.

    nnnnnoooo. I haven't even tried the software yet. I think it's used mostly for sharing patches...you might be able to edit with the software, but I'm not sure. I've done all the editing in the pedal with the nobs and stuff on the fly. And yes, each patch is consisted of a combination of amps and pedals, as many as you want for each, but not totaling more than 10 total.

    You are one of few! Haha! Most people prefer the POD and Boss distortion. I, personally, agree with you. Most people don't realize that the presets on Zoom pedals are pretty crummy, and that's what most videos reviews go over. You can get great distortion sounds out of Zoom, you just need to make your own patch, and edit it like crazy.

    It really depends. The G9.2tt is a more "typical" multi-fx. The G5 is set up to look and function like a pedal board, but the G9.2tt (from what I've seen) has a lot more features, and there really isn't much you can't do with it, but it has a really steep learning curve. You just connect the headphones with the standard 6,3 mm plug in the unit. You can play and listen without be connected to a computer (perfect if you`re travelling). I have mine connected with USB-cable right into the computer. It`s a great multi-effect, that`s my opinion:)
