I randomly came across one of your UA-cam videos and got hooked by your personality I absolutely love the bear minimalism in the editing, and you have such an amazing energy, and passion for your collection. As a fellow collector I have a lot of respect for it can’t wait to see you continue to make great videos
I absolutely prefer physical media, and much like you, I also started collecting in 2020 when the pandemic started. Not only does it look better than streaming, but the physical copies come with special features, which I love to watch. The packaging is also great, because I enjoy the effort put into it by the artists. Great video, man! 🤘🏻
People will mention cost to me when they see my collection but then I tell them, I don't buy coffee, cigarettes, sweets, or fast food a lot. Plus I get everything on clearance, discount store, or chairity store. All next to nothing
Exactly people choose how they spend their money. Some people like going got nights out and drinking spending £80. Others would prefer to spend that £80 on movies.
This is exactly it. I basically just buy food and what I collect. My friends will criticise how much I spend, when they're out spending $20+ a few times a week on meals out, then more on coffee and other small items. I don't see an issue either way, as we both get enjoyment from what we spend on, but I like having my purchases be permanent items, rather than something I consume or throw away.

It's not even that people would betray your trust by mistreating your DVDs/blu rays that you lent them, because according to them, they are taking care of your stuff, because that's how they treat their own stuff. I’m in my 50’s now, I’ve been collecting since the VHS days, I love physical media but every time I upgrade I tend to sell the other version or at least only keep the disc itself itself if it is different(a DVD, edit version, features) then place in an disc envelope into the blue-ray or 4K case to add to the rest so not to have a separate case for every single different version, this way my shelf’s don’t become overloaded so quickly, another thing you need to think about before collecting so much is what will eventually happen to your collection once you’re gone, cause let’s be honest, most of our family and friends have no interest in our hobbies, most of our collection has no value to them even though we know that a lot of our collection is very valuable and can be sold for a lot, but most people don’t think of disc as valuable like baseball cards, comics, coins and stamps collecting, our stuff will be thrown away, donated or sold for pennies on the dollars, give this some thinking before trying to collect everything cause you can’t take it with you, me personally I am selling and downsizing my collection to the movies that are nostalgic to me so I can relive the best memories of my life
That's exactly what I do, If I have a DVD copy and buy the Blu-Ray I'll stick the DVD in with the Blu-Ray and pack the case away to save space. But unless if it's a special edition case or something, I usually combine copies to save space.
All of these points are abosolutely valid. I've been collecting for decades, and sadly, i've had to restart my collection once before after my house was broken into and all my movies were destroyed in the process when i lived in Boronia way back in the day :( Now my collection has grown enough for me to feel like i'm back to where i was back then, with some cool physical copies of unreleased movies that nobody else in the world has. If you really take to the time to go through your collection and think about it, you'd be surprised at how many discs you can let go of. And that just makes it easier to get what you really love/want. Collecting physical media is like collecting anything else: You need to work out how it works best for you as an individual. same with music on the first megadeth album they did a cover of these boots are made for walking the original songwriter took issue with it because they changed the lyrics and made it more sexual he threaten to sue them if they didnt remove it off the album on the remix remastered on streaming and modern pressings its either bleeped or a new recording with the original lyrics and daves ageing vocals or its not on there so original 1985 pressing on physical media baby
Very True !! Lend out my vinyl to a persistent friend, He scratched it so deeply the vinyl couldn't play. He just said sorry, & that's about it !!! Sickening !!!!!
You are correct it does take up space...but i love how it looks..I'm a display guy so i need my stuff shown, I love your lay out, We are organized hoarders lol.
I agree it takes up alot of space especially vhs tapes. dvd/blu can have two in the same space as a vhs tape. Laser discs im sure take up alot to they gotta be like vinyl records. Just found your channel and loving it keep up the great work and insight! 100% Spot on on your horror vhs crt video.
Just stash the ones that mean the most to you in a CD binder to save space and toss out the cases. It's all just a bunch of cardboard and plastic that's eating up space. I was all about DVD physical media in my 20's, but i i have zero interest in it anymore. If anything, scoring sealed VHS copies of some of my favorite cartoons or movies from the 80's and early 90's sparks more nostalgia. DVD's are a 2000's 'thing', when pop culture was absolute garbage. :P But to each their own. Everybody is on their own little journey, do what brings you joy and happyness!
@@NintenPizza i so disagree with doing the binder as it tends to scratch the discs up and for certain releases if they go out of print if you have the original case it can be worth a good sum.
@OtakuBenny2210 now music is my first love! I have about 5,000 CDs and several hundred SACDs. Don't really care about the gaming stuff, but my son does.
Here's some more thought from some old bloke who started to buy media when VHS was the only option. My first ever movie that I bought was "Blade Runner". Anyway, only start buying stuff if: - you really love film and watch on a regular basis - can deal with the fact that your regular copies will have no resell value - have the space to store them - you are able to see through advertising scams aka Collectors Edition, Special Edition ect - you don't fall for other scams like -> "uncut or directors cut" on one version, bonus material on the other version to make you buy the film twice, decide for ONE version - the "film series" scam aka single release first, box release later aka buy twice watch one does not fool you and some other things.
The worst part is that as a dumb kid I sold my DVDs and blu rays to pawn shops due to streaming, now as an adult with ADULT money I am rebuying the shows and movies I love on 4K and regular blu ray and dvd if only on dvd to watch my favourite tv shows and movies in their prime best available quality. I now only care about streaming for exclusive tv shows and movies
I think the intention at the start when film was invented, was to visit the cinema and watch. Then VHS was to rent what you wanted to watch at home and then return. Then we started buying home video, we bought what we wanted to watch again and again. Now the world has changed, where we feel we want everything whether to watch or just to display. Perhaps it's a modern addiction.
or people are just lazy these days and most of them don't realize that streaming is nothing but renting a movie they think they own it but than if say netflix loses the rights to it because their contract expired they get pissed it's no longer there. but if i want to pick up season 1 of Supernatural on Bluray i can go to my shelf but on netflix the music is changed. and for some tv shows streaming sometimes edits tv shows as well Netflix does that with the cross overs if they don't own the cross over and a cast member is in one show from another show they don't own. case in point SVU they've edited that cause they don't own chicago fire.
FULLY AGREE Binders are not a real answer! If you want the disc, gotta make the room for it. CD's are the same. If only I could tell my young self not to throw away those jewel cases.
When I ran out of shelf space I took the middle ground of replacing the cases with thin plastic sleeves. They take up much less space, but each movie is still on its own rather than being somewhere in the middle of a binder, and the sleeves also hold the paper liner and any booklets that were in the case (the main thing that doesn't fit are outer cardboard slipcovers). That said, these days I usually just load the movies onto a media server (at full bitrate) as they come in the door and then watch them that way. It's much easier to search the collection (especially for things like actor/director/genre), there's no loading times or menus, I can watch with friends at their house without carrying discs around, and perhaps most importantly it identifies any damaged discs right away when they can still be easily sent back for replacement.
This would be my 4th video of your content that I've enjoyed, time to subscribe lol. I like how while we are thousands of miles apart (Californian here lol) we have the similar issues with physical media, i'm always like being told to sail the seven seas for the movies , and I'm like "but muh bitrate tho" which flies over their heads. I fell out of love with streaming kind of recently with Castlevania on netflix, it was the final few episodes of season 2 and the bitrate made all that beautiful animation crisp up like a chicken nugget of ugliness, it was awful lol. My homies were like "why are you starting a collection with all these convient options?" and I was honestly replying that I wasn't going to collect everything, just the things I like, which is how it starts I imagine hoo-boy.
Someone needed to tell me that collecting thousands of physical media takes up space??? SPACE??? And no UA-camr told me it takes space and cost money!!!!! I NOW HATE THEM ALL!!! lol... this is so dumb
I think space isn´t that much of an issue if you don´t go completely nuts like we do. I´m well past a thousand movies now and if i had been able to stop myself somewhere is the ballpark of 300 that´d fit in one reasonably sized shelf.
Yeah i have so many horror stories about lending out media. Once I let an old friend borrow a nice stack of 360 games so they could catch up on some essentials. They moved and instead of trying to get my games back to me they left them in the place when another one of our friends moved in. That friend lost or sold them. They both push the responsibility to the other and when I try to confront about it I get hit with things like "you're putting material possessions before our friendship" 😡😡😡
Some things I will simply not loan out. Comics are one. I will occasionally loan out a paperback simply because it’s cheap to replace. One of the reasons that I buy the Blu-ray DVD combos is that I will lend out the DVD to friends who ask and I keep the BD so I have the superior copy.
Great collection and some really valid points. Hate lending out my films. Refuse to do it after too many bad experiences. Are your shelves double stacked? How do you get your movies to sit so flush on a Billy bookcase?
Ahhhh.... Rabbit Proof Fence! I need that for my collection... not to watch (tried that years ago...too harrowing), but in recognition of its story, message, performances and honesty👊
Another thing that rarely gets mentioned from 4K collector UA-camrs is that some 4K's have freeze and skipping issues. I just tried a playthrough of The Dark Knight for only the 2nd time and I've been hit hard by this issue out of nowhere. Cleaning disc hasn't helped. Had this issue happen with 2001 A Space Odyssey, Ready Player One and managed to move past this issue on Braveheart by cleaning. Some discs and or players are faulty.
@@JTW3159 Looks like my only option is to try get the Panasonic 820, they seem less common to freeze. I have the LG UBK90, I opened it up and cleaned the laser to no improvement. It was surprising to see they have a Sony optical drive, I wonder if it's the same drive Sony uses for their X700/800 players which are also plagued with this issue. Could even be used in the PS5, who knows.
I am 40 years old. I have around 350 cds, 100 music dvds, 100 movie dvds and a few series. All in all, I could fit all my entertainment in two large shelves. I feel that is enough. I find everything I need, I listen and see everything fairly regularly. There are plenty of movies I am happy to see just once and then never again. Streaming is enough for casual stuff.
I must confess I started with a well organised collection (by genre and director) but I ran out of room and now I am accused of being a hoarder. sigh. Yet, I have so many films you cant watch elsewhere or are censored. I had a friend who also had a space problem so he decieded to sell his entire dvd/blu-ray collection and watch them on Netflix instead. You, guessed it within a few months they started removing ALL the films/series he wanted to watch so he cancelled and is now trying to rebuild his collection.
Awesome channel and I’m always interested to listen to your take on things because I can see you really love and enjoy collecting physical media and take collecting seriously meanwhile other UA-camrs just buy collections and sell them
When a good catalog title comes out on a newer format, everyone has a choice to make: double dip and sell the old one, or just keep the old one because it's good enough. I'm a double (and sometimes triple) dipper. I have nothing earlier than blu-ray. I just don't want the hassle of keeping several different formats of different sizes around, not to mention all of the different machines hooked up to play them.
I wasn't shocked by the cost at all.I'm not sure of the difference between a UK pound and an Australian Dollar but I'm guessing there in the same ball park.My standard DVD collection alone is easily over £10,000 and it takes up one bedroom wall.I think space is the biggest problem but yours look amazing. Finally yes never lend your discs out, it's unlikely we will get them back in the condition we lent them.Enjoyed video
Those shelves look great. A wall of great movies. I have about 800 blurays and I thought I had a lot… 3000!…😅😂 Love it. Some people spend their money at casinos, drinking, smoking, concerts and car payments and nobody bats an eye. I like movies and games.
From what i’v heard in the US I can find the last wave on criterion collection but it doesn’t have other releases compared to Australia for some reason
Living in an urban apartment, collecting physical media is indeed pretty difficult; You indeed have to ultra specialize (don't just collect roleplaying rulebooks, you have to limit yourself to 2nd ed, for example.) Also, don't know if "Jolly Roger" is an Australian term, but I've never heard it and it's pretty ingenious.
I think there should be new digital physical media. Micro SD is sufficiently cheap enough now. Have a dedicated touchscreen for digital print material. Maybe even dedicated SD magazines for servers to use, best of both worlds?
I don't like loaning out my DVD's, either Damage can sometimes be unavoidable, unfortunately. My issue is with them saying "not watched it yet..." and then takes 6 months to return. Things can get quite awkward by then Also, my collection is entirely my personal taste and wasn't intended to leave the house, tbh...watch it at mine, if invited to, or buy your own 👊
Is that "The Room" on Blu ray i see lol . That movie is great...I only tried vegamite one time and it was pretty bad but i can understand it's an aquired taste.
@7:30 this happens with videogames as well, others don't respect the hobby and treat it like "its just a disc, oh well" ruined my copy of FF7 on ps1 and a few movies lol.
Collecting comics, albums, books, models, videos, manga, would be impossible if I didn’t own a home, and even with a two bedroom, I’m cramped. I don’t even have a large collection, and someone in an apartment couldn’t have the stuff I’ve accumulated. Honestly this is one of the reasons that I’ve shifted to buying much more digital media when it comes to stuff I’m just curious about; one the price is often significantly cheaper, and when I travel I have access to it. The other thing is that because of space consideration a lot of stuff isn’t immediately accessible because it’s boxed up in the attic somewhere, and I have no idea where it is, even though I know every thing I own, doesn’t mean I’m going to be able to necessarily find it. I’ve actually rebought stuff simply because I couldn’t find the copy that I owned when I wanted to watch it, or read it. lol. Also I’m been trying to get my hands on some Vegimite ever since that Men At Work song back in the 80’s.
I am mostly digital for everything these days, very rare cases I will get something physical if it's limited or I have an attachment to the media. I own a home and I live on my own, can't shell out thousands on plastic.
Being married to a wife that doesn't share my love for physical media in a relatively small house, ive had to make comprises. Basically i have around 450 blurays on display, and the rest are in sleeves with the slip cover. I have secured space for another 200 on display but the rest will simply have to be sleeved. Perhaps one day ill have a larger house and i can go all out. But until that day i gotta do what i gotta do.
I had a knot in my stomach most of the way through ‘Wake in fright’ such a great movie! I recently saw 1985’s ‘Fortress’ and that was a trip! There’s a lot of great movies to discover from down under.
uh idk about there but both my blu-ray sony player and my xbox series x will NOT play even a dvd with out internet. I found that out after a hurricane one year. I had power but no net, lucky for me I had an older dvd player so I just hooked that back up.
I would also highly recomend watching your stuff as soon as you buy it! I have had not tons but enough brand new sealed discs be bad or skip. I have had 2 blu-rays that looked fine but would not play and they were my region code.
If you decide to go binders, keep the paper in the slipcase. That way, if you decide to put them back in cases, you just have to buy the empty case. That is what I'm doing with some of my porn collection.
New subscriber here. I’m a big time physical media collector who rips all my physical media from VCR to 4K to my my PLEX Media Server for my personal ownership and use and no one else but my household family and friends (which are only 4 people). I still have all my physical media stored for easy access if I really want to pop in a movie. But more often than not I can stream full quality within my home network. Full quality of whatever it was I ripped. It’s basically my personal “Netflix” except in full disc quality. I get what you’re saying mate. But I personally like the combination of owning the physical media and streaming it through my PLEX interface at will in whatever format of SD all the way to full fledged 4K Dolby Vision/Atmos. It’s cool, you may want to try it out one day. But either way I love your channel and you put out good, honest, practical content. Thanks from the USA brother 🇺🇸 😎👍
Money is what people value it so spending boat loads on this isnt bad its only when you start running out of space and making sure its in a set up where you can keep it room temp control and all that
Jamie have you considered going live and stuff on UA-cam and starting a patreon? I would really love to support you mate you've given me 3 hours of content already. Keep it up Jamie!
I stopped collecting because i don't want to buy the same movie five times. It also takes up to much space it became a ball and chain.Last but not least: I saw the movies i love between 10 and 50 times ( i'm old),enough is enough
I think one thing collectors don't touch enough on is the setup required to experience physical media at best. If you're going down the 4k UHD route, you'll need a good TV and decent sound system. Otherwise you might as well stream the content on a laptop
You should just burn copies to rent out or transfer it to a usb drive for a usb compatible tv, if you aren't charging people for the copies and making a business out of it no one should care.
Greetings from great Britain your dvds are amazing...you are spot on..only buy the ones you enjoy...and stuff those haters...over the last few years..and steaming made loads of men/women..even people who like films..ditch their stuff....i bought tons of DVDS and CDS....kinda my dream collection....now i haven't bought any VHS ..betamax or vinyl...or cassettes..as tbf once cds and DVDs came out...why bother with a inferior format?.. the great thing about your treasure is anyone could find something to watch...my granddaughter went into my man cave /guitar _music room last weekend and was impressed...she picked spider man 2&3 ...and Carrie...she wanted to watch Carrie and the human centipede...but as shes only 15 i wasn't comfortable...oh the irony...i watched cannibal holocaust...driller killer...i spit on your grave..when i was 13...but the main thing is she dug my collection....
Great video with a nice collection in the background but... and I mean but... Vegemite < Marmite. I'll hear nothing different and I am fully prepared to die on that hill!
There's a fine line between being a collector and being a hoarder.

I think collecting movies was a great way to find an escape from covid. Your collection as a backdrop for your video is more then sufficient :)
I prefer my physical collection because it cannot be altered based on the current outrage of the day
W
This times a million
same with music on the first megadeth album they did a cover of these boots are made for walking the original songwriter took issue with it because they changed the lyrics and made it more sexual he threaten to sue them if they didnt remove it off the album on the remix remastered on streaming and modern pressings its either bleeped or a new recording with the original lyrics and daves ageing vocals or its not on there so original 1985 pressing on physical media baby
This. Look at what happened to FF7 remake, regarding the whole Tifa censoring thing. Yikes.
Yep.
Very True !!
Lend out my vinyl to a persistent friend,
He scratched it so deeply the vinyl couldn't play.
He just said sorry, & that's about it !!!
Sickening !!!!!
Always spent my money on physical media. Awesome channel and stuff
Dave Gulpilil’s earliest appearance in a feature film was in Walkabout a Nicolas Roeg film from 1971.
You are correct it does take up space...but i love how it looks..I'm a display guy so i need my stuff shown, I love your lay out, We are organized hoarders lol.
I hope you have insurance on that collection!!
Best backdrop ever. Keep it like this please!
Once I got over two hundred 4k movies and Blu Ray's I slowed down.
Ok
I might have 200 Blurays, maybe 30 4k Blurays. But I might buy one or two movies a month now. Still grows over several years.
Anyway, only start buying stuff if:
- you really love film and watch on a regular basis
- can deal with the fact that your regular copies will have no resell value
- have the space to store them
- you are able to see through advertising scams aka Collectors Edition, Special Edition ect
- you don't fall for other scams like -> "uncut or directors cut" on one version, bonus material on the other version to make you buy the film twice, decide for ONE version
- the "film series" scam aka single release first, box release later aka buy twice watch one does not fool you
and some other things.
The Vegemite detour just brought a smile to my face, lol.
I really don't like the binder route, I have done that a few times and definitely regretted it.
Why do binders damage the disc or something?
Yes they do @Cbriggs502
You are so correct! I made the same mistake of the binders and am still recovering! 😂
Yeah agreed
Yeah i have so many horror stories about lending out media. Once I let an old friend borrow a nice stack of 360 games so they could catch up on some essentials. They moved and instead of trying to get my games back to me they left them in the place when another one of our friends moved in. That friend lost or sold them. They both push the responsibility to the other and when I try to confront about it I get hit with things like "you're putting material possessions before our friendship" 😡😡😡
That’s adorable on their part. I’d be like… “are you really trying to gas light me right now?” Then laugh.
That was really bad of your friend but it's a lesson learnt I guess. We all make mistakes.Never a lender or a borrower be as my old dad used to say.
Some things I will simply not loan out. Comics are one. I will occasionally loan out a paperback simply because it’s cheap to replace. One of the reasons that I buy the Blu-ray DVD combos is that I will lend out the DVD to friends who ask and I keep the BD so I have the superior copy.
why would you lend 360 games?! I lend one or two tops. that is ridiculous, to even think about lending 360 games in one go.
@@mikatu I think he means Xbox 360 games - not actually three hundred and sixty GAMES! Damn, I hope not!
Great collection and some really valid points. Hate lending out my films. Refuse to do it after too many bad experiences.
Are your shelves double stacked? How do you get your movies to sit so flush on a Billy bookcase?
I put older replaced stuff behind, like old DVDs cases or old Bluray movies that I’ve replaced with 4k, even some vhs the at I store away behind
Space is the main reason I took my 1,100 discs and sold most of them and went digital. My collection just got too big and unruly.
Some discs and or players are faulty.
try and get the best player you can afford ,on high end players even bad disks will play.
Could even be used in the PS5, who knows.
man seeing all those movies brings me back to the days of video ezy
It's been my personal rule since I was a kid to never lend any kind of disc to anyone, ever. And I've always told anyone who tried to ask exactly that
a good disc is never returned
I am 40 years old. I have around 350 cds, 100 music dvds, 100 movie dvds and a few series. All in all, I could fit all my entertainment in two large shelves. I feel that is enough. I find everything I need, I listen and see everything fairly regularly. There are plenty of movies I am happy to see just once and then never again. Streaming is enough for casual stuff.
This guys pretty cool
Just subscribed
I must confess I started with a well organised collection (by genre and director) but I ran out of room and now I am accused of being a hoarder. sigh. Yet, I have so many films you cant watch elsewhere or are censored. I had a friend who also had a space problem so he decieded to sell his entire dvd/blu-ray collection and watch them on Netflix instead. You, guessed it within a few months they started removing ALL the films/series he wanted to watch so he cancelled and is now trying to rebuild his collection.
You're the man Jamie Us physical media guys are a dying breed physical media is my hobby to
Awesome channel and I’m always interested to listen to your take on things because I can see you really love and enjoy collecting physical media and take collecting seriously meanwhile other UA-camrs just buy collections and sell them
When a good catalog title comes out on a newer format, everyone has a choice to make: double dip and sell the old one, or just keep the old one because it's good enough.
I'm a double (and sometimes triple) dipper. I have nothing earlier than blu-ray. I just don't want the hassle of keeping several different formats of different sizes around, not to mention all of the different machines hooked up to play them.
I have around 310 movies down from around 350 and considering downsizing some more
It’s the story, the content. It can be in book or media. Downey California
Have you seen Body Melt, Fair Game, Dead End Drive In, and Razorback?
I wasn't shocked by the cost at all.I'm not sure of the difference between a UK pound and an Australian Dollar but I'm guessing there in the same ball park.My standard DVD collection alone is easily over £10,000 and it takes up one bedroom wall.I think space is the biggest problem but yours look amazing. Finally yes never lend your discs out, it's unlikely we will get them back in the condition we lent them.Enjoyed video
My room is like Blockbuster I got movies and video games of different consoles
Those shelves look great. A wall of great movies. I have about 800 blurays and I thought I had a lot… 3000!…😅😂 Love it. Some people spend their money at casinos, drinking, smoking, concerts and car payments and nobody bats an eye. I like movies and games.
From what i’v heard in the US I can find the last wave on criterion collection but it doesn’t have other releases compared to Australia for some reason
Damage on the slip cover adds character what a steal at 60-70 dollars great score!
(pirated)
id call it a library not modern but a personal library of sorts as friends can borrow etc.
Jaimie is that a blue screen behind you?
Physical media as far as video games but only if it's cartridge based games because they last longer. Like nes games and switch games.
I let a old coworker borrow my 4k steelbook of American psycho and mf returned it with the plastic slip case cracked. Last and only time
I think there should be new digital physical media. Micro SD is sufficiently cheap enough now. Have a dedicated touchscreen for digital print material. Maybe even dedicated SD magazines for servers to use, best of both worlds?
I don't like loaning out my DVD's, either
Damage can sometimes be unavoidable, unfortunately.
My issue is with them saying "not watched it yet..." and then takes 6 months to return.
Things can get quite awkward by then
Also, my collection is entirely my personal taste and wasn't intended to leave the house, tbh...watch it at mine, if invited to, or buy your own 👊
People used to have this problem with books back in the day. 😄
Back in the day? I’m in the book community and it’s a huge problem even now! 😁✌🏼
The only thing that sucks is disc rotting been an issue..Bluray and DVD releases from 2006 till 2009 from Warner bros are rotten very bad.
Is that "The Room" on Blu ray i see lol . That movie is great...I only tried vegamite one time and it was pretty bad but i can understand it's an aquired taste.
Hi Jamie.
May I ask what shelves you put your bluray/DVD's in?
Billy Bookcases from IKEA
@7:30 this happens with videogames as well, others don't respect the hobby and treat it like "its just a disc, oh well" ruined my copy of FF7 on ps1 and a few movies lol.
I managed to pick up dirty dancing 4K from Amazon US via Amazon AU for the wife for $22.71 last march
Show us your VHS collection
But until that day i gotta do what i gotta do.
never comprise
I don’t own a lot of dvd/Blu-ray because I usually watch them online but taking space I’m not surprised my parents complain about this
I always find your videos to be fairly quiet compared to others on UA-cam.
I leant people games and they just stole it by blocking cutting contact
I made that mistake with my huge PS3 collection, main thing is I still have them though and don’t have to rely on streaming platforms/downloads etc.
I think for that era that's the way to go.
even still, i would absolutley back things up to a nas or media server purely incase of damage and eventually disc rot
Money is what people value it so spending boat loads on this isnt bad its only when you start running out of space and making sure its in a set up where you can keep it room temp control and all that
The main problem with collecting physical media?
It's so damn ADDICTIVE.....
Jamie have you considered going live and stuff on UA-cam and starting a patreon? I would really love to support you mate you've given me 3 hours of content already. Keep it up Jamie!
Enjoy.❤ Great Collection.
Vegemite 😂😂
what shelfs do you buy mate
I stopped collecting because i don't want to buy the same movie five times. It also takes up to much space it became a ball and chain.Last but not least: I saw the movies i love between 10 and 50 times ( i'm old),enough is enough
Excellent video. I am the same way with my collection and agree NEVER EVER lend out your movies
Jamie, do you collect Criterion?
I was able to pirate the movie for song of the south online
Whats the difference between collecting and hording i know it exist but what is it i feel you can slip into hording
I have a rule, max 20 copies for each console. That way I keep my collecting greed in check.
Not a bad rule. You’re also way more likely to avoid shovelware and games you only feel so so about.
@@Ichabod_Jericho Yup, also most retro consoles can be emulated anyway. Playing games is what counts most
I think one thing collectors don't touch enough on is the setup required to experience physical media at best.
If you're going down the 4k UHD route, you'll need a good TV and decent sound system. Otherwise you might as well stream the content on a laptop
I had ants trying to nest in cases 😂 who would have thought!
Very interesting stuff good sir
This is nuts
Everything costs money. It’s all about what people choose to spend their money on.
You should just burn copies to rent out or transfer it to a usb drive for a usb compatible tv, if you aren't charging people for the copies and making a business out of it no one should care.
I found your channel through this video. It’s impressive you got to use your name for the channel. 😂
Why can't she watch Carrie?
Great video with a nice collection in the background but... and I mean but... Vegemite < Marmite. I'll hear nothing different and I am fully prepared to die on that hill!
