They weren't actors, these were the genuine contestants. I can't remember quite how it works, but certainly one of them will have been on one or more shows before this, if not both of them.

Personally I always thought Giles Brandreth would have been a natural successor to Richard Whiteley. In my opinion nobody else had really suited the role since 2005.

Shame because I have watched it from the very start.

Not only is it a classic Gotcha but it shows, not that proof was needed, what a brilliant presenter Richard was, when all we have today are fakes. He was genuine, interesting & interested, talented, natural & funny just as he was in "real" life. I remember my utter shock at hearing the news of Richard's passing and not believing it and family, friends & colleagues saying what you saw with Richard was what you got. Not only a great presenter, Richard was of course mayor of Wetwang in the East Riding of Yorkshire. R.I.P Richard, for the short time we had you, you made a huge impact.

I watched Noel's House Party every week when I was growing up but somehow I don't remember seeing this one. By far one of the best Gotcha's. And who doesn't miss Richard Whiteley?
Noel's House Party was brilliant Saturday evening TV back in the day. I mean it was a load of nonsense - almost Pantomime like - but it was unmissable.
By all accounts, Richard Whiteley was a lovely, lovely man - a real gentleman! His onscreen persona wasn't a persona but what you saw was what you got. I once met him shopping in ASDA and can attest to this fact. Much missed! X
