  • Christmas in Alaska is a magical time of year, especially when you add in some gold! Join Tom Massie as he travels to a glacier outside of Anchorage, Alaska to metal detect in some dangerous situations. It's below freezing, but it's never too cold for gold!

I joined the Gold Prospectors Association of America back in the low to mid 80's. I had a 5" Keene dredge and a 2" backpack dredge. I remember when I called to join I had the distinct pleasure of getting Buzzard himself on the phone. He signed me up and I became a member. My dad was my partner. He died in 92. I got out of prospecting after that. I'll never forget 'ol George Massie. He died the year after my dad. George was a great guy, for sure! RIP...

i would love a channel on here such s this that has all the videos Tom and George did even from back in the Public Television shows that they did as well . A lot of people don't realize that is where they had their start at was on PBS channels. I love the videos and i dont care how long you been mining or prospecting these are always enjoyable; and a great way to teach and bring in new blood and the younger generations in this :)

Almost correct. There never was a large population of "Natives in Alaska" Both Cook and Behring estimated about 1500 Indians, most being in the SE where there is more food. There were a few Tlingat, Hadaii and Athabascans . Russia started the Russo Amerika fur company to hunt otters in the Great Hunt starting in 1799. Russia imported 6000 Yupik from magadon and Yakutia and set up most Alaskan coastal villages. By 1867 when the US purchased it with all that stolen Confederate gold the population was 8K. This means even roughly today 3/4 of the "Native Alaskan" population has only been on this continent 220 years. They aren't native or indigenous. Yet today in Alaska these Russian families own the most profitable corporations and mines in Alaska, all under the guise of being "Native". Alaskan forests get clear cut, bays killed by trawler draggers, and huge polluting mines are all "native" owned and make billions annually. ANCSA was the largest scam ever pulled on the people of the USA and everyone is too blind with PC culture to even admit the truth. The entire State of Alaska functions on a lie. The oldest sites are not in Alaska, the First Nations never started in Alaska, the Ice free Corridor theory has been debunked, and the oldest sites and tools found on North America are on the East coast. That is what supports the Solutrean Theory over the defunct Beringia theory. There has never been a mammoth kill site found in Alaska. It never happened, it is all a lie, and Alaska forces the "natives" turtle island belief like a theocracy. Pretty State but the people are zombies.

Lol and murderous and violent towards women. I thought that there were no mammoths because the Eskimo's killed and ate them all. I'm glad I'm wrong hehehe 🤣
