Yes! It's: Down..... Down, Up, Down, Up.. Up.. Up, Down, Up, Down, Up. If you need me to break it down in more detail, let me know and I can email you a video breaking it down more clearly and slowly.
@@GracieTerzian It would be really nice if you could send me an email (eleanna01392@gmail.com), because I am a beginner. Your voice by the way is amazing!!
@@eleannapyrovolaki Hi! I emailed you the video link, but I'm including it here as well in case anybody reading the comments wants to watch the video breakdown as well. Here is a link to the video breaking down the strumming pattern: ua-cam.com/video/b6jJ2bCcSJc/v-deo.html There is also a PDF of the strumming pattern written out with beats I emailed you and included in my Patreon (which you're a member of!) and can be found here: www.patreon.com/posts/37430318
Yes, sure. Perhaps I should keep quiet, but she seems a bit irritated showing the song. Well she’s sick, and depending what that is the ailment is, sure everything becomes harder. Look, it’s still not a “bad” tutorial. It’s just that I’m a guitar teacher, and unless the student is at least intermediate(totally)it would take probably at least 10 more minutes. Someone who can already play well, yet can’t quite play by ear well, or how to arrange a song for guitar-voice, then this is excellent. In one on one teaching, many students have many questions, and sometimes the easiest(well to me) parts can leave a student in limbo, no matter how many steps are chopped up. I’m not a yes man, and when I first taught , I sucked. Ha Ha.
@@johnsmits2494 Gotta be honest dude, you lost me at "irritated". I sensed no irritation in this video. She just went through the changes. All the rest of your post made sense I suppose (maybe I'm jaded having been a musician for over 45 years), but I think the points you were trying to make just don't really matter that much. If you already know your way around music and/or the uke, then she's passing on a song. If you're brand new to it all, then you have this lesson to come back to when you can handle the pace. Either way, it's all good and there's really nothing to criticize (unless criticism is just your jam). If she only taught at a beginner speed she'd lose a chunk of her viewers. But the last thing she comes off as is irritated. She seems like one of the nicest, most patient teachers on UA-cam. I guess she could try to turn this into an ASMR video, or just plain sleep next to the instrument for the duration of the video to dial down her "irritation" ....😴
You have inspired me to play the ukulele! I just ordered one. Do it Again will be the first song I will attempt to play. Awesome. Your voice is good. No need for an apology.
I have been watching your theory courses for the past couple weeks and have been so impressed with the clarity of your teaching. Then, I saw a video of you singing something (don't remember what song) and was so impressed with your singing. THEN I find you playing ukelele, and STEELY DAN at that! So, so good. You have found your calling, keep up the incredible work.
A guy in the band I used to jam with was related to Steely Dan's drummer, Hodder. Band practice was at his place and he had gold records on the wall. Killer lesson thank you. MK
Thank you so much Lynda! I'm now going to be posting a video once a week on Saturdays. Please let me know if you have any advice, ideas, requests or suggestions for my channel and videos.. I'm still learning the ropes!
You are an incredible musician but when you start to sing it's like the atmosphere becomes lighter for a while. Never would have thought of doing a Steely on the uke but it definitely works. So nice. Thanks
I just want to thank you for posting Steely Dan ukulele tutorials-you make it so easy to follow for a beginner and truly have such a beautiful voice. I often am distracted by people's singing or the creative liberties they take with songs in their ukulele tutorials; things like that make learning difficult for someone like me who knows the real songs inside and out, but can't hear the right notes if drowned out, sung differently. Bravo! You have a new subscriber and fan.
Here, Here ! I am a guitar teacher and there is no better feeling than having students being very thankful for showing them how to play, and them realizing you’re giving them 110% because you can feel their enthusiasm. I used to teach in a music store mainly and if there was a student who was just 100% into playing, and there was a cancellation or empty spot, I usually went 10 minutes further . The students energy would just shine back on me, no effort. But the boss was like, HEY, you gotta tell me when the student’s on the clock. But back to your tutorials, they are very, very well made or thought out and I’ve often seen online or even in my experience where the teacher is not starting on step 1 or is likely confusing students with half improvised versions of songs, particularly in jazz.
I'm definitely gonna take up the uke! Been play bass and singing since the late 60's but you have really inspired me to play a uke! Oh well, more string instruments to hang on the wall🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
Great idea but I suspect she maybe a music teacher who has a great touch vocally and instrumentally. Hard to find, actually. I am not dissuading anyone but some people see the Uke , and they’re like, why do I need a guitar, even ?( ha ha) Well she is an accomplished musician and everything in this cover is right in it’s place, she doesn’t have the usual Steely Dan 8 piece armada to support her. She could make the amateur mistake and be like, well why not some really rad sub changes ? No, no,no. All the bases are covered, sounds great. Just be aware that many Steely Dan songs couldn’t really be covered by just a Uke and voice, unless it’s a total reimagination.
This is awesome!!! Makes me want to buy a Ukele, but I'm running out of room with all my guitars and bass. I love Steely Dan as well. Kudos!!! Well done.
Wonderful - the uke wasn’t the first thing that camej to my mind while thinking of SD, but that’s changed now :) Btw I would definately use the pinky for the sus-chord in the verse, And ps, I liked you Circle of Fifths video, you are very clear minded and it would be nice to hear you explain further on music theory?
Thank you so much for your nice comment! And yes, very good suggestion about the pinky. Unfortunately I can't add to the video after it's posted! I am planning on posting more music theory related videos since I have received such positive feedback on that Circle of Fifths video in the past few days! I recorded a theory video yesterday, and will post it on Saturday. Let me know if there are any theory-related topics you'd like to watch a video about or think would be useful! :) Thanks for taking the time to check out my videos and for your kind comment! :) Cheers
I may be redundant(re:other peoples comments),but as nice as Your speaking voice is; You sing as an Angel. Have You ever tried playing "Season of the Witch"/ Donovan had said that they're are 2 iconic chords. I never bought that Uke that I had My eye on. But still...
I’m surprised that you broke the shape of G minor to go to the Gsus4 rather than just putting your pinky on the 4th fret of the A string and saving yourself all that movement, but that aside, what a great tutorial! Thank you so much! p.s. Sick or not, you have a lovely voice... :)
Can you write down the struming pattern ?

Who gives this a thumbs down?! Someone desperately in need of a hug apparently. Her interpretation and presentation of this classic is great!
Hahaha thank you Jeff :)
I agree and can only assume that they hit the wrong icon, or else must hate this song in general for some reason!

I've been learning Ukelele this last month so I'm excited for some new unique chords. Thanks for the lesson!

Merci beaucoup. My daughter played harp for 4 years and now has a ukulele.

excellent - so many versions just have Em for the verses which I knew couldnt be right ,
I was playing Skunk's lead to that. What a hoot. Wish l had one of those vincent bell sitar guitars. You're lovely.
How many 'American Idol' or 'the Voice' Finalists (Top 10) learned from Gracie's UA-cam Efforts? Time for this girl to make a breakthrough.
Great job! Your voice is perfect!
Nice! Saw this on a FB uke group. Great voice and walkthrough. Subscribed.
Thanks so much frank!! :)
Very nice Gracie. Love the Doobies 😉👍

Hahaha yes I know the feeling... my walls are pretty covered!
Gracie, you are a great player and singer too,
I'll try these on my guitar
I like you
Very nice! Thanks for sharing Gracie!
Thanks for watching! :)
That was great! Thank you.
Love it, love it Love it!
Thank you!!
Hi Gracie, just found you and joined your patreon! We all love Steely Dan!! Would you teach Deacon Blues?? Thanks!!!
Sounded great
Dang it Gracie I didn't know that I wanted to play this on ukulele but thanks for reading my mind
hahaha oh good i'm so glad! :)
Really nice voice!
Thanks...love Steely Dan and your tutorials. What ukulele are you playing? Any tips on brand, type, etc. Thanks.
You should make more tutorials. Good direction for your channel.
After watching this, I'm gonna play this at a bon fire some night

Wish I had a healthy voice that sounded half as good as your sick voice does ❤
Surely easier to simply bring the pinky down on fret 3 string 1 for that Gsus4 Gracie? Stops having to move the rest of the fingers.
Lovely! What brand ukulele are you playing?
Luv it!!!!!
I’m surprised that you broke the shape of G minor to go to the Gsus4 rather than just putting your pinky on the 4th fret of the A string and saving yourself all that movement, but that aside, what a great tutorial! Thank you so much!

What kind of Uke you playing. Nice strumming btw. :)
Excellent! :-)
Extremely well done, thanks!
So changing between Gm and the Gsus4 chord I find it easier to just add my little finger to the 3rd fret on the A string. Is that okay?
Yes that’s definitely okay! Probably even smarter than the way I did it! Haha :)
Sweet voice.
Beautiful woman, but what's is best is she is intelligent. Good stuff 😉😘👌👊🙏
thank you kevin! :)
Beautiful but please do it at right tempo to retain the right groove.
❤ly
Good lesson but I don't play ukelele!
Haha.. you have to start! :D
I hope your boyfriend or husband appreciates how amazingly talented and beautiful you are...and if you're not married, marry me? 😉
