What's your hair type? Is it Straight, Wavy, Curly, Coily?
Honestly, once you know your hair type the solution might be as simple as switching your shampoo and conditioner, or changing brushes, or maybe buying ONE more product. There's a lot of information in here and it's easy to overthink this stuff, but at the end of the day, zoom out, and ask what’s the real goal? To have a healthy scalp and healthy-looking hair. When you know your hair type, you can accomplish this.

Dude, your channel is more informative yet easier to understand than any woman’s channel I’ve found! Turns out I have 2b, medium porosity, medium density hair and I’m pretty sure a dry scalp. It can get greasy after 2-3 days without washing but I think that’s just my glands overproducing to compensate. My shaft and ends are dryer but I do all the things you listed (only wash the scalp and condition middle to ends) and sleeping with a hair bonnet has helped with that substantially as well. Thankfully I’ve gotten better at managing it through the years.
Thank you for all of the tips and advice! I think it’s great that you gear your channel towards men but hair is hair and it’s good information for everyone :)

I'm 18 and I've have shoulder length hair since I was 14, these videos have really helped me learn to take care of my hair as opposed to my normal routine basically all of my earlier teen years; that was pretty much using Axe shampoo once a week and brushing it slightly, but never detangling or conditioning it. My hair was always course and wiry, and lacked any volume whatsoever. Now I use charcoal organic shampoo and conditioner, and I actually use a conditioning and detangling spray in the mornings, I also never brush wet hair anymore, and I found a great salon in a town nearby ran by a nice lady who is amazing at styling and grooming my hair when its time for a trim. Anyways, thanks Trav for being a great advisor for men with long hair, young and old.

    Great video Trav!
This actually cleared out so much, thanks man!
    I have: Straight/Wavy (1/2A)
    Coarse Texture
    Medium-High density
    Medium porosity
    Combination/Oily scalp
Also, I may have dandruff as when my hair gets oily there are some tiny yellow white-ish thingies in some areas.

This video is amazing. It made me realize that I don’t want anything to do with any of the tips you gave and in January I’m going to get a buzz cut. Been growing for almost 10 months because of COVID and I hate it 95% of the time. This probably isn’t what you wanted to hear but you helped me realize what it takes to have long hair and it ain’t for me.

Great info. I think you covered it all really well. I am on the hunt still for my perfect stylers. I have 2a-c, fine hair med porosity med thickness. I want to find a leave in curl cream and a mousse or gel for hold. I love a wooden brush.

Okay, I normally don't comment on videos, but I feel like this one deserves all my attention, because you are doing an amazing job, Trav!
From one creator to another, I really like the way you color grade and compose your videos! From one teacher to another, you are doing an amazing job in simplifying all the information! This is one of the hardest things to do, regardless the domain and there aren't many people that can successfully achieve that, especially in a 20 min video. You stayed on point and got my attention even though I kind of got the general idea of the video and got the info on my hair type. I just couldn't stop the video, even though it's 4:30 AM.
And from one doctor to a fellow colleague that actually cares about other people's healthy lifestyle, I admire that you support all of your videos with a lot of research and that you quote from actual studies. I wish my teachers in med school would've done the same research as you did...
Yeah, I'm a young dentist and a professional photographer and amateur astrophotographer that happens to pursue his creative career at the moment and I find myself teaching a photography course (for both doctors and creators) and I wanted to write you this feedack and give you a little part of my background because I actually know that proper research is indeed hardwork and I usually tell my students about awesome creators like you and I encourage them to share their view, research and experience with all of us, because the world needs a little push nowadays to get things done. And the more inspirational pillars we have in our fields of interest, the more we all get to enjoy life and what it has to offer.
If you actually read the whole message, Trav, I wanted to tell you that I just passed the awkward stage and I can't wait to build up my UA-cam channel and give a proper feedback to all of your awesome work!
    Keep it up!
    P. S.: The PDF you've put out for free... keeps me motivated when I remember how much hardwork and equipment money I've put out for free as a photographer in the past 8 years... and it also prooves that you can't put a price on passion and dedication.

This is the most helpful video about hair I've ever seen. Originally was looking for tips for flyaway or baby hair and found this. I downloaded your app too. the hairdresser always said I had super fine hair but a lot of it. Now that I'm 60, the back is still thick but the top is now thinner. Think the curl pattern is between 1 and 2a. Hair is halfway down my back. Inherited my dad's M hairline.

as a person with 2c-3a hair I envy people with staight/wavy hair, y'all can do anything with it and it'll look good, meanwhile anything I do makes me look like a homeless ginger dude.
You can curl or straighten ur hair, meanwhile if I ry to do ANYTHING fancy with mine I look disheveled.

3 months into growing my hair out and I can’t wait for like the 6 month plus point because I have no idea about my hair type. Always thought it was pin straight until one day I noticed the tip of my hair which I had the top at around 4-5 inches, had quite the wave to it and having my hair down made it look preeetty wavy. Quite excited to see what’s to come.
