Thanks for the information Tim. People who damage gates and cut locks shit me, they risk ruining it for all users. I understand the need to close them, otherwise we all need to run 37s to get around. Then only the Unimog might be the go 😁. Ah well, in iso for six weeks now.
Peter Phillips Gday Peter, Yeah, I think it’s a good idea that the tracks get a rest over the winter. Then they are ready for Melbourne Cup Weekend Thanks for your reply mate Cheers Tim.
Sort of understandable, but OZ has more gates than trees now. Im in NSW and we have heaps of tracks that have held up for 25 yrs no prob, now shut just because ?. No snow or rain here for the last eight years.
Years ago when the Jamieson to Licola Road was open we did several snow trips with the lcool guys. Built and stayed in igloos on top of Mt Skene near the old ski club that’s gone too. Some of the guys were really experienced in high country traveling and boy we were fortunate to be able to tag along. More than once you’d come across traffic jams with cars bogged still dumping the clutch and 30psi in the tyres. Ahh good times. Hehe
G'day John, That would have been unreal to travel over Mt Skene before it became a seasonally closed road. Sounds like a great experience mate. Thanks for your reply. Cheers Tim.

Great channel Tim, and thanks for the entertainment and knowledge you provide.. A few of us were looking to head into the Vic high country in October, then you posted this chat... Is it worth heading down there in October, or better off putting it off until everything is open?
G'day Ross, Thanks mate, im glad that you found the info in this video helpful for the trip you are planning later this year. It's up to you mate, but if you can wait a few more weeks until those seasonal gates open, you are going to have a lot better look around with out the restrictions. Thanks for your reply mate. Cheers Tim
G'day mate, Really feel for you guys in that lock down zone. Let's hope that they can get on top of that virus in the areas early and open things back up for you. Cheers Tim.
G'day Tim. Great channel you have here. We're looking at coming over from SA next year if covid permits. With the track closures are the tracks marked with signs? cheers
G'day Luke, I hope State borders are back open in time for your High Country trip next year. The seasonally closed tracks are mark with gates like you see in the thumb nail photo. Plus they have a large sign beside the gate explaining about the closures. The Park Victoria website is the best place to check out the full list of tracks that are closed. With you coming over from Sth Aust, you would be far better of coming when the gates are open, so you can make the most of your trip. When it gets closer, make contact if you like mate. I'd be more than happy to help you plan out your trip and tell you about any tracks that might be closed. Thanks heaps for your reply and feedback mate. Cheers Tim.
Don't know if this is a recent thing. But there are a heap of tracks that are supposed to be open listed on parks as open but haven't opened in the last 2 years I've been down a couple any ways and there is nothing wrong with the tracks so no excuses there. I thinking these seasonal closures are going to turn into permanent closures and I bet my bottom dollar Dk head Dan has something to do with it 20 minute city early preparations
G'day mate, Thats interesting if thats the case. I dont know of any tracks that are listed as open but are closed. Have you got some track names that are in that case? How are they closed, gates, signs etc? Thanks for your feedback mate. Cheers Tim
Protecting the track seems like a slightly weak excuse. Yes it can be a bit more muddy but how is that different from a wet period in season? I am not saying break the gates or break the rules just questioning the reason. Is there a concern that people might get stuck and may need to get rescued in the middle of winter?
Morgan Woods Gday Morgan, All of those reasons. A big one would be the danger side to it. A lot of the high elevation tracks would be covered in more than a meter of snow. Thanks for your reply. Cheers Tim.
@@timbates4wdadventures Thanks Tim any camp sites you recommend that will most likely be snowed in. Usually go to R L Skipworth in the Kevinton area will that have snow?
Jeremy Riordan Skip Worth is a great spot. It’s not at a high enough elevation to get snow. You’d be better head up and camp near Mt Terrible. Even further along the ridge, towards Woodspoint. Not much snow around just yet.
At lest Parks Victoria seem to work with the 4WD Community and keep these's areas open during the summer season, even working jointly with the 4wd community to maintain tracks and rest areas in some park areas . . . sadly us NSW 4WD'ers seem to be looked-out of most of our NSW National Parks, especially the more remote locations. By having Seasonal closures, it also assist in these's tracks remaining usable/serviceable during the summer months, rather then the tracks being chewed up due to snow and wet conditions, so can fully understand Parks Victoria's seasonal closures.

@@timbates4wdadventures Sad really, there are some great Fire Trails/tracks not far from Sydney's door step, but majority of tracks in NSW National Parks go to car parks or designated crowded camp grounds.
