  • Learning to play is one of the best things you can do for your music production.
    Download Melodics for free: sguy.co/melodics
    I got my first keyboard at the age of seven. But with no lessons, I was forced to teach myself. Thankfully my keyboard came with a bunch of songs built in and it would show me what notes were being played on every song. Learning these songs was the first step in teaching myself how to play the piano.
    Now in 2021 there's better solutions like Melodics. In this video we'll explore how we can use Melodics to learn how to play the keyboard.

    Inspiring story. That's how Matthew Whitaker began. The way he did it, the keyboard became a music school. If it has a variety of styles, you can learn how to comp, add chords to one-hand melodies, and develop a sense of rhythm -- everything you need to know to learn songs by ear and play from fake sheets. I'm glad to hear you had enough love for music to persist to learn how to play because in this video you prove you can teach an old dog like me, new tricks. Thank you.

    I can play some chords and notes by ear. I make my own beats but unfortunately I have carpal tunnel in my dominant playing hand. I can play for about ten mins then the pain is too much to bare but I won’t quit. luckily to produce I can make loops.

    • @stefanguy
      @stefanguy  3 роки тому +8

      Try it and make an informed decision for yourself. All I can say at this point is that the method to learning is very similar to how I started. Watching notes being played and copying it. This worked for me. Melodics also have exercises, courses and a structured way of learning. This is great for many people who either don't have the time or don’t know how to extrapolate information from numerous sources to build their own learning program. The information is out there for free, of course, but can one put it together and effectively learn? Some can, many can’t and that’s fine. Also a lot of the times people stagnate not for the lack of practice but because they’re not practicing the right things. A tool like Melodics can help with that. To what extent it helps you, only you can say. Like I mentioned in the video I’m doing 30 days with it to see if it can personally help me and someone at my current playing level. I’ll then report back my findings. But with everything, the best thing to do is try it for yourself.

      Any will do to be honest. But what you get will depend on your space/how large you want to go. I also recommend a minimum of 49 keys as that way you’ll be able to play in every song key. But in this video i’m using the M32 which has 32 keys. It’s great for portability. My main keyboard is the komplete kontrol s49 but you don’t need something that complexed if you’re not using native instruments software. The Komplete Kontrol A49 has the same keybed and provides a good playing experience but is cheaper without the extra bells and whistles of the S49. This are the only keyboards ive had experience with in the last few years so all i can recommend. Hope this helps and makes sense!
