I appreciate you showing your screw ups. I'm new to mountain biking, and it's helpful to see that even experienced riders have those moments and that it's no big deal.
Right on! When I first got into MTB I was terrified to go over the bars, I think it was my first time out that I had a pretty bad one. It’s good to know screwing up and hitting the ground isn’t so bad and you’ve just gotta get back up and brush it off. At the end of the day it’s all about getting out and having fun, gotta start somewhere!
@@TheKeeperofdeath so you can access this via Frick, but it isn’t technically at frick park. If you want to ride there from Frick, you need to head towards crater/humpular and then ride down a couple of streets, but you’re better off just parking at Les Getz park. All of this stuff is back in the woods there. If you go into the park and head towards the back of the grounds you’ll find where the trail systems start.
Humplar trail was a doozy. First time on it wiped out twice. Path was a lil slick from yesterdays rain. Should’ve waited. Def on my to do list to conquer
It’s not ideal, but you could certainly try haha. I haven’t been there for a while, but there are far bumpier trails out there from what I remember. It looks like you’ve got disc brakes, so that’s good. I guess I’d be mostly worried about the beating your fork will take. A bike like that is definitely not intended for any intense MTB.
@@griffithmike I've decided to not risk this thing falling apart under me lol. I'm grabbing one of the $400 Ozarks and I'll play around with upgrading that.
@@dinglemccringleton honestly I’d check out the used market. I’ve seen a lot of good deals on high-end bikes lately, not that you need something crazy to ride the stuff around here. Safety is one aspect, but components built to take the beating of actual mountain biking is another. I’d try to get something with a rockshox or fox brand fork on it if you can. The big bikes cost some money, but so does replacing broken parts, haha. I think a lot of bikes you see in big box stores are more built for rail trail and casual riding than actual mountain biking.
@griffithmike I guess they don't have those ones anymore. But some of the other ones are alright. I've been wanting some good riding gloves with a space theme, but eveeytime I see someone with them, the company doesn't sell them anymore
@@tardis4125 ah yeah they seem pretty hit or miss with what they have in stock. I’ve been too cheap to try any expensive riding pants yet, I’ve gotten a couple pairs of Forbemk brand on Amazon that are pretty decent for under $100 though.
Lol, have you ever ventured over to crater/humpular or seen the bmx jumps that are at the top of the hill? This stuff would all be at the other edge of frick, where you’re able to cross the one road and ride under 376.
I rode this trail for the first time today, very fun!
For sure! Iron Gate and 276 are fun, but having some actual features is a big upgrade
Frick looks great.. subbed 🤙
Thanks! Definitely solid riding for being basically right in Pittsburgh!

I miss Frick Park!
Frick rules! Keeps getting better thanks to the hoodlums building the rogue trails haha
Where exactly is that first run with all the jumps at in Frick Park? I’ve ridden iron gate, 276, no idea that first run with all the jumps

Where did you get those gloves?
Assuming you’re talking about the spacey purple ones, they’re from Loose Riders. They have some pretty cool stuff vs your typical MTB gear.

@griffithmike have you tried loose riders pants? If so how do they fit? Should I go a size up? They look nice but are very expensive.

Where in the Frick is this? I just do laps on Iron Gate

Right off of Les Getz park.
