Talk about a sudden twist at the end of this excellent western. They say love conkers all but love can also create the worst kind of pain that can only be lessened over time but will never truly go away. Thanks for sharing.
I just looked up the age of the girl and Jimmy Stewart the girl with 17 years old and Jimmy Stewart was 42 years old in 1950.. that was definitely the good old days for a man..
I was born in 1953 only a few years after this film was made. I am really surprised that I did not see it. The moral of the story is that there are both good and bad people on each side of the battle.
This is one of three lesser known movies that are easy to recommend , and currently present on UA-cam. They are Valdez is Coming, Warlock, and this one, Broken Arrow.
My first wife was the grand daughter of a Seneca nation Indian who served in the US Marine corps during WW2. I learned about the trail of tears from the Indian people. My white school teachers did not bother covering such inconsequential details. Now any time I see this movie I am reminded how great a forked tongue my white brethren are! Great white actors are just that. Actors.
I'm a Buffalo Ghost Sioux holy man. Do you notice the pilgrim curses are in full force now . I've organized 5000 chiefs around the globe to pray for my prayers to be stronger than any army or any nation. I'm making head way. Ya'ta hay
The movie clearly took liberties with the facts, but the four year treaty with the Apache Indians was a fact. It was brokered by Jefferies and Cochise, and the one armed Christian General Howard. though the mail carrier parley was not pure fact. I slightly preferred Michael Ansaras portrayal of Cochise in the TV series. Although I certainly cannot fault Jeff Chandlers portrayal, both were excellent.
As Mickey Rooney once said, "They don't make movies anymore. They make deals!" I stopped going to movies twenty years ago. The "crapoloa" they shovel up now simply doesn't interest me.
Excellent Western storyline fantastic Hollywood cast well worth watching again and again
James Stewart was an exceptional actor. and I have seen all his films , and my opinion of his craft has not changed one bit.

Wow! James Steward, Marlin Brando, Antonio Bandaras Sr., and Omar Sharif! Fantastic movie!
This post is total bullshitt ... James Stewart (with a "t") is the only one in this list in the movie.
