    Bucky definitely deserved more "peace time", after that though him taking up the shield as a redemption arc could have been powerful... Though using Caps absence without passing on the mantle would be a great direction for the entire MCU...

    Yes he's a better character than Sam Wilson and also a better friend to Steve Roger.
    BUT, Sam is the safest choice.
    01. Bucky has become a weapon, and a murderer. Yes, it has been revealed that it was all HYDRA operation, all has been exposed by Black Widow. But it's all still him doing the bad things. Even Tony can't just forgive him. It takes time.
    02. We saw in the trailer, Isaiah Bradley was mind controlled or something like that. Guess what? He got captured later, because that's the right thing to do. Same with Bucky he has to be held accountable. Or at least, he shouldn't be Captain America.
    03. John Walker was fired from his Captain America position, because he was a murderer too. Yes, Steve killed villains too (Nazis). But this is different time, Captain America has become a symbol. He should have captured the terrorist, instead of murdering him in public.
    04. Captain America 4 has not been released yet, but I'm pretty sure they will also capture the Red Hulk. It doesn't matter if he's the president. He must be captured, for everyone's safety.
    So you saw where I'm going with all this. It's about people's safety and people's trust. He has already been pardoned, and no longer being hunted by the government, and that's more than enough. If the people needs him to be Captain America, then he should earn people's trust first. At this point, it's easier for the people (inside MCU) to trust Sam, if someone has to be Captain America.
    Bucky simply needs more screen time. I would like to see him in his own movie even. He should get his freedom back, he should get control of his own mind and body back, he needs a chance to prove that he serves the people and defend the people. Then it is safe for him to be Captain America.
    Or, the government (inside the MCU) could just let it go and, like you said, let "Captain America" rest. Captain America is Steve Rogers. Others like Sam or Bucky is allowed to have their own story. But knowing government and their politics, of course they will not let "Captain America" to rest. That's why we got John Walker, and now Sam Wilson.

    I think it's very interesting that so many people have said that a former Russian/HYDRA agent who had previously assassinated a US President was a better choice for Captain America than Sam because he's pumped full of HYDRA drugs that make him stronger. The point being missed here is that the ONLY reason to have Sam as Cap is to demonstrate his struggle to live up to it. John Walker failed to live up to it too even after getting his illegal steroids that made him stronger. THAT’S THE POINT, and it's not a subtle point. If it was too subtle, they state it outright several times, so people being upset about that may have very curious motivations for choosing to ignore that point, that was made - REPEATEDLY. Sam's tenure as Cap was (sort of) brief in the comics because Steve returned. STEVE WILL RETURN. Just enjoy the ride.

      @@pauln6 See, at this point, I’m not even sure I’d want that. Just let Steve go. Let Tony go. CREATE NEW CHARACTERS WHO ARE JUST AS STRONG. Why is this so HARD, Disney/Marvel.

    • @pauln6
      @pauln6 28 днів тому +1

      @fred_flinstone8 fans don't even want to see C-list characters, except as part of an ensemble alongside A-list characters. No way do they want to see brand new characters. Although Captain Carter was surprisingly popular, this was likely due to Hayley Atwell making Peggy so endearing. Most people want Steve and they will get him as part of the Secret Wars soft reboot if nothing else.

    • @fred_flinstone8
      @fred_flinstone8  28 днів тому +1

      @ yeah, but my point was that the smart play would be to MAKE characters like Falcon or Winter Soldier more popular by putting in the work. The same way that Thor, Cap, and Iron Man were all technically c-listers before the MCU made them household names by putting in the work on them.

    • @pauln6
      @pauln6 28 днів тому

      @fred_flinstone8 I'm not sure what 'putting in the work' means, though? Cap and Thor were B-listers - long-standing, popular, and well known by comic fans, with their own popular titles, but no larger profile with the general public, reserved for characters like Spider-Man, Hulk, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman etc. The MCU movies have pushed them up a category. Wolverine was a B-lister but became an A-lister, just like Steve and Thor are now. What you are saying, I guess, is that starting as a C-lister - a supporting character with no long-standing comic title - means that Sam isn't worthy of his own series or movie even if his 'promotion' is comic accurate and a natural progression of the MCU story? The story is about they symbol and the Shield, how that carries Sam along, and how others want to use it or claim it for political capital. I actually think that Sam being both black and left wing is why people have beef with him taking on the mantle. People feel he's not worthy on a subconscious level because he is the symbol of the USA but isn't as overtly politically agnostic as Steve. He's not as charismatic, and he's full of doubt, two things that seem to fly in the face of general US indoctrination. I find him so interesting because he is like that. John Walker was the typical, modern American poster boy, but underneath it all, he was fragile, corruptible, and prone to impulsive behaviour. That looks more like modern America but it was never what the comic writers wanted Steve or Sam to be.

    Yeah part of the journey is the end but looks whos coming back to MCU.
    Lets be clear "Iron-Man" is a superhero identity created & owned by Tony Stark, "Captain America" wasnt created by Steve, Steve doesn't own it infact Steve has walked away from the position before, Captain America belongs to U.S. Government & ending Captain America as a military position just because a longtime holder of the position retires is asinine.
    Sam's run as CA in the MCU is important because its an opportunity to show that a normal man without physical & personality enhancing drugs can live up to the example set by Steve where John Walker failed.

    I so applaud you for saying the controversial opinion that NO ONE should have been the new captain america! Sam felt really wrong, forced, and weak - him not having the super serum is a massive problem. Bucky would be a lot stronger candidate for the role, and it would be a good redemption arc, but its not something he wants or needs. Everyone talks about it being either or, but it should be neither. I prefer Bucky over Sam, but just wish Bucky some peace and quiet after all he has been through and Sam doesn't fit it. Captain America was Steve Rogers and Stever Rogers was Captain America. Comics be damned, lets leave it at that.
    This is made worse when we see Sam fighting Red Hulk in the trailer for the movie that never should have been made. Seeing a guy with wings and shield, no super powers, no super serum for super strength, endurance or resilience go effortlessly toe to toe with a HULK is just beyond ridiculously stupid.
