Yeah, I'm not even sure it's CW worthy.

I'm not sure. I think there've been some very solid and beloved Superman adaptations in both live action and animation recently (for example, Superman and Lois as well as My Adventures With Superman). I think the main problem is EXECUTION; and THAT is something that WBD just can't seem to get right in movies, mostly because I suspect they keep overthinking it.

Yeah, they really don't seem to have done a very good job with him.

Given WBD's past and present leadership, I wouldn't hold my breath.

@@fred_flinstone8 Man of Steel was the most perfect of all the Superman movies but seems like the production went backward for the next movie. Gunn should keep in mind that he is offering fans' his new actor, and we expect no more less than what Cavil have shown, fans expectation will be also much higher than Man of Steel visual effects. But look at that, lets look at the costume.. the physique of the actor is hidden under thick foams, at this early stage it is already comparable to Cavil's apperance as superman, Cavil's physique fits well with his costume while this new superman's physique is made with foams and paddings.

And if he does, I'll admit that (at least on the profit level) I was wrong. But until then, I'll continue to point out his standing track record with WB and his general artistic flair as reasons for he perhaps should not have been picked to run the DCU.

@@Thabs474 For the one billion and first time, I couldn’t care less about elevating Snyder over Gunn. I’ve said time and again that making Snyder king of the proposed DCEU was a mistake and that he should’ve just been given his planned Superman trilogy with nothing more. NONE OF THAT means that I have to blind myself to the misfires and recipes for failure heralded by the decision making of ANOTHER man who should never have been given control of a shared universe of superhero films.

I'll wait to watch Superman before I make any final determinations, but I agree that the signs I've seen don't look good.

I'm not sure about Sasha Calle. But I most DEFINITELY don't care for the Milly Alcock casting.

@fred_flinstone8 same here, but like I said I didn't care for casting Sasha Calle as Supergirl either until I actually seen her in the suit and how her performance was in the movie. Course in Millys case I did see her in the suit and still it didn't look right, but I'm gonna wait till I see her performance before making my final decision on weather if she has potential or not. But I'd still like to see more of Sasha Calle as Supergirl tbh, unless they wind up finding someone who's even better then I'd go with that person. It's of course my opinion.

I think the writing was on the wall that Cavill needed to go (unfortunately). But I also think that James Gunn is taking the absolute wrong direction with the reboot.

@fred_flinstone8 I don't understand why Cavill needed to go. He understood the character and the responsibility to the fans that goes with it. He's a fan himself. I don't mean to be argumentative, but you say the writing was on the wall, what does that mean?

@@davemckinney6555 The DCEU could’ve been great; but it was ruined beyond repair by studio executives, and Cavill is essentially the face of that universe. The only solve was going to be a creative reboot, but there’s no way that a reboot with him at the center wouldn’t be compared to the dumpster fire that the DCEU became. David Zaslav’s new management was never going to run that risk when they could just recast with another solid actor who can embody Superman for a new generation. Besides which, for better or worse, Cavill is at the age where he can’t believably play a bright-eyed twenties to thirties headlining character for another ten years in a major franchise. (I’ve actually done other videos about this also, if you’re interested.)

Either way, I think we can all agree that it’s not a very good look-going by initial appearances-for what’s supposed to be an introductory SUPERMAN movie.

I do think that a Cavill-less reboot was the only option left after the disaster of the old WB regime. But I do have (STRONG) concerns about whether James Gunn is the right man to handle said reboot.

Second time: that's not what I said. It doesn't become a non-Superman movie because other heroes are in it or because sequels are planned. Sequels, for instance, were planned and executed for Batman Begins. Sequels were planned for Man of Steel. The only difference was that those movies were Batman and Superman movies because their SOLE focus was on establishing Batman and Superman versus selling the company that owned their IP to a rival studio.

@@damonappel First, I most definitely do NOT worship at the high temple of Zack Snyder by that name or any other, nor did I think it was anything but a mistake when he jammed Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Flash into BVS under corporate pressure. And you’re never going to find any video or post I’ve made claiming the contrary. Second, Superman as a project is most likely NOT going to work if treated the same way as Guardians or the other indie auteur projects that James Gunn excels at making OR comic books that are sold in their own format. It’s a matter of a difference in kind.

You are absolutely right. I used to see cartoons and the black and white Superman show. Back in the 80's It was amazing. However the uniform from Man of Steel is the best so far.

@@juankwanmendoza5219 A thousand times, yes. That suit perfectly encapsulated the fantasy-made-real aspect of it all; and it's just telling how so many of the Superman suits in comics and on TV that followed MOS have been trying to emulate that design on some level.

And, to be sure, he’s VERY good at it. But the same qualities that make him a good auteur and indie filmmaker make me seriously question whether he should have control of the entire DCU.
