Thank you for this video. It can't have been easy and shows what all of us who follow you already knew... you're a special and thoughtful guy. You mention imperfection several times... I see no imperfection in this video. In fact, it gets a Dank Rating of 9.3! We consider yours our favorite channel, and if we wanted a perfectly scripted/edited show, we'd probably subscribe to cable! Just walk and talk, take us with you exploring whenever you feel like it. We don't need highly edited... or edited at all. I too suffered from depression for several years off and on. It would descend without warning and leave the same. No discernible explanation for either. I sincerely hope your happiness flies back to you soon!! We've missed you (and your lovely girlfriend). Thank you for the great content you provide. Wishing you all the best from Joshua Tree!
Thank you so much for the sweet comment and for sharing that with me, and the 9.3 dank rank 😀 This video wasn't easy to make but I think it was an important step and that I'm moving in the right direction
This video just makes you more real and relatable. Too many on social media only show bright, shiny, happy things even though their world is falling apart. Know that you are not alone and you are brave to even talk about it. Max McFarlin has dealt with depression and made a few videos about it. It does seem like you've got severe depression and oft times, I think it began with the negative voices in our heads that took up residence when we were very young. The longer we let these negative voices rule us, the deeper it etches it's presence into our brains. Very difficult to shake. It's akin to that "dark passenger" that Dexter spoke of (depression, not serial killer bent here) that just rides around with you or sits on your chest. It can be managed on some level, sometimes, but all those saying just go to the gym don't fully understand true depression. Kinda hard to go to the gym when you've no energy to do anything but lie in bed. But keeping busy will keep the negative thoughts at bay. I think sitting still in your own thoughts is the worst thing you can do if you have depression, even if you may "enjoy" it on some level or feel as if you need it. But isolation has a way of wreaking havoc on those with depression as it's just more time for them to get back into to a circular/endless negative state of mind and they cannot break out of the loop. I do think nature can sooth you on some level...maybe go look at her majesty. Gaze at the ocean and listen to the waves without people around. Go north to those majestic mountains of the northern Vietnam and let nature surround, embrace, and awe you...even if it's just for a little bit. Best of luck, Tyler.
Getting out into nature is a great idea. Always makes me feel better. I didn't know Max had videos about this too. Wish the best for him he's someone I look up to a lot.
Like is short, every days there’s people out there also feel the same way. I pray to God you will get better and God will bless you in every aspects of your life that you needed.
Being open to being vulnerable and talking about it takes exceptional courage. You've got my upmost respect. We could all be more open with how we feel. Keep strong brother
Thanks for sharing. I love your videos. As long as you still post your videos, I will continue to watch and like them. This video is perfect. No cuts, the emotion is raw and honest. Hope to see more from you doing things in Vietnam, like eating local foods, traveling to different places, chatting with the locals, all those would be lovely. --Your new subscriber from Portland Oregon❤.
Good to see you back. Your videos are fun and informative and have plenty of character and I've missed them. Sending positive wishes and good vibes from Toronto Canada!
Hey Bentley, I really enjoy your videos and always look forward to seeing them. Nothing in life is perfect, that’s what makes it interesting and fun. I’m 76 years old and I look forward to visiting Vietnam in the future, you make my desire to travel there so much more. Keep up with your doing, hope to bump into you
Good to see you back. I have struggled with depression here and there usually a few times a year. One time I had my vitamin levels checked via bloodwork and was told I had almost no vitamin D in my body so any time I’m feeling down I start taking vitamin d right away and that seems to work. Also, just avoid negative thoughts and try your best to focus on positive energy. Enjoy and appreciate the little things. ✌🏻
For sure something to keep in mind. I may go in for some blood work to see what's going on with my vitamin levels. I appreciate you and thanks for your comments while I was away
Hi Tyler. Thanks for the update and posting this video. It must all be incredibly difficult, but it looks and sounds like you're on a good path and coming out of it. I know what it's like to suffer from depression as well, and the feeling of not wanting to do anything at all. But the fact that you're motivated, and feeling positive & creative is an excellent sign. You'll be through this soon, no doubt. I shot you a message on your instagram page the other day and would love to chat some more, if you're up for it. Keep up all the excellent work. Cheers!
Great to see you back brother! Your good woman is a keeper. There is no shame, we all go through this & some people are in denial, great thing is you see it & believe me there are better days ahead my friend! You are loved. 🙏
Think of it as your brain needing time to reset. Glad you listed the positives like a supportive girlfriend and family. Take whatever time you need to clear your head and ponder the now and the what's next💕
One way to fight depression is to keep yourself busy with something, so you don’t have too much time thinking about negative stuffs, like going to the gym regularly, pumping irons, build some muscle. Eat well. Stop smoking. Make yourself look good, and when you look good, you feel good. Also don’t let any negative comments on UA-cam videos bother you. If you notice, many really successful UA-camrs don’t bother to comment at all, like Mark Weins. Of course you are still a small time UA-camr, so you need to engage with viewers to keep them interested. Ignore the shit talkers. A change of place should help too, either a different city in Vietnam, or a different country.
We are all our own worst enemy. No one can be happy all the time and I think I haven't been really happy in years. We all ride this roller coaster of life and there will always be ups and downs. Don't be ashamed and stay strong, brother. Love your all videos, but always take time for yourself to heal and be happy. come back when you are truly ready, we will all be here.
i make it a point to go outside the house and get some fresh air daily, getting up and enjoying life. Time is something you can not get back. Best of luck.
I'm 49 years old and I live alone. I got depression quite often in the past but now I'm better. Try new things, even things you think you don't like, it will keep your mind busy. That's how I deal with it, I hope you will be back to normal soon. Cheers!
It's good to see you back Tyler. Depression is nothing to be ashamed of, i believe everyone gets it to some degree. You have made the most important step to beating the black dog, and that is acknowledging and talking about it
Hey Tyler, I’m so happy to see you in a new video. I plan to visit Saigon but the ticket is very expensive to fly to Việt Nam! I hope one day to see you in Saigon and invite you diner ‘Mì Vịt Tiềm ‘ 😊😊
Great to see you again Bentley. Thanks for your honesty, it’s important to tackle mental health issues. Get the (professional) help you need and don’t blame yourself. Looking forward to your hem vlogs - they are really solid content. Say ‘hi’ to your girlfriend, she’s a keeper 👍
I deal with depression and PTSD even while traveling. It’s funny because i thought leaving the USA would help me and keep me distracted but it’s just the same no matter where i am. It’s all good bro ur not alone. I’ve been thinking about putting out a video like this for a long time but wasn’t sure how people would react to it… you gunna be alright brother 💪🏽
Happiness is not a location, It's a mindset. Location can help but in the end if you are not happy it will follow you wherever you go. The old saying that you can never truly run away from your problems.
Hi Bently. I'm glad to see your video again. I hope you're feeling better now. Thanks for sharing with us. I agreed with everything you said in your video. We are just human beings. We are not perfect. Of course you are not perfect. No one is. There will always be some up and down moments. No one can expect you to be happy all the time, at least not me. I am not happy all the time. And there's no shame about it. Sometimes I feel depressed, sometimes I don't want to do anything, sometimes I have bad thoughts, but that's just who I am. There will always be shadow within you. It's a part of you, so there's nothing wrong to accept it. If you don't feel like doing anything, don't do anything. If you need some time for yourself, spend some time to take care of yourself. But I just want to let you know that I and your community, are always here for you. Take your time, take it slow, 1 step at a time. Do what you like, be comfortable with yourself. I'm sure some days will be better than others. I will be in Vietnam next month. If you're down to meet up and have a chat, let me know. I can't wait to enjoy my childhood food while I'm there. ❤
Small steps, man. Getting anything done,is a start. Be kind to yourself. Don't beat yourself up. Letting depression define you isn't going to help. It's not OK to BE depressed. It is, however, OK to FEEL depressed. That can be the difference, as a state can not be changed, whereas a feeling can.
Tyler - I am not going to pretend I know what you're going through, but I know what you're doing makes you happy and it makes all of us happy to see our UA-camr are still with us. I hope you find help dealing with this demon and stay with us my friend.
Watching your video reminding me a friend of mine, a foreigner living in Vietnam. At first he's kind of loner, depressed, and did quite a lot crazy stuffs. I don't know your situation, but my advice is: finding a gf, don't rush, don't fall into crazy one, picky a little bit (you have a look for Vietnamese girls, seriously), find someone not too strong in personality, then find a job to communicate with locals around you. If possible, make friend with other to hangout, don't stay late, try to wakeup early in the morning. My friend got much better by following that.
Great to see you back. Don't worry about perfection, your videos are entertaining, warts and all, thou I don't see anything wrong with them. Lot of us struggle with mental health, nothing to be ashamed of. If you'd be interested in doing a help video, I was in Vietnam in March and plan to be back in November, really struggled with my phone. I got the new simcard, but still couldn't contact my bank in the US when I had a problem. And hints about phones would be appriciated. Another thing would be help in setting up a Grab account Hang in there buddy.
I posted a comment this morning, but I have noticed it has been removed, probably because I mentioned some YT videos which may be of help. Apart from saying I was glad to see you again, I mentioned that we your viewers and fans love you and support you. Please don't talk about imperfection. Who on earth is perfect? We all wish you the best, hope you will get better soon. Please remember that you have the support of thousands of subscribers, the love of your family and your girlfriend. How many people can claim to have the love and support of thousands? Peace and love.
Cheers thank you for your continued support and your concern while I was away. You're right, I've got a lot to be grateful for...trying to focus on that as much as I can
Man, just came across your channel. You are not alone although it feels like it to you. My professional advice is seek medical intervention as well as some intensive exercise to increase natural endorphins as well as counselling with a good psychologist. Do not be embarrassed - it is pretty common in todays world ! Please do not think it will just go on its own - stay safe man !!! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Most people don’t understand depression. It’s absolute apathy. It’s like being a rudderless ship. It’s an almost complete lack of personal initiative and motivation. It’s not laziness, and no, you can’t just “get outside”, or whatever else people say especially when you can barely muster the will to get out of bed. The last year seems to have been hard on a lot of people for many different reasons. Yours are valid to you. You recognize it for what it is. If you’re conscious of it, then you can slowly pull yourself out of it. Don’t expect a change overnight but just keep trucking. Be patient and compassionate with yourself. You’ll be okay. Macabre thoughts are just your way of trying wrap your brain around that which was concerning you. The fact that you’re here, now, making this video is a testament to your mental strength. See you in your next one.
in traditional medicine they say food has the qualities to make a person happy or sad, angry or calm yin and yang 'food is the medicine" becareful with food eye, ear, nose, tongue, skin, and mind sight, sounds, smells, taste, touch, and thought
Some of us, beat ourselves up for small reasons or we dwell on certain events that can lead to a "Lowy/Downer" then we slowly get better and more cheerful, when we look back at the said moment and go "WTF" was i so down for. Just a personal opinion, Most times its other people that get inside our "Wall" and start to break it slowly. i give people 2 chances then its "See-Ya".
Stay positive my friend. Maybe it’s time to reach out to family members or friends you haven’t spoken to in a while, just to break the routine a little bit
Please think of depression as a chronic illness. Never be too hard on yourself. Please do what everyone does when they feel sick : take breaks and get up and do little things that everyone does example: take a shower, eat healthy. Your videos are very helpful.
Depression is common now, and there's nothing to be ashamed of. I have a good job, a loving spouse, and a nice house with everything I need and more. I have a big family, I'm still young and healthy, and I'm financially very comfortable. But guess what? I have chronic depression. I've lost all interest in doing anything besides the basic necessities to keep myself functional throughout the day. I guess my depression also creates anxiety. My point in telling you this is that you're okay. You're not alone. By the way, I heard drinking coffee helps with depression because the caffeine lifts you up. Also, try not to think about the past or future. Think of the present. Thinking of the past makes you sad, and thinking of the future makes you worry. Focus on now. Practice controlling your mind. Verbally yell out "Stop!" if your mind drifts to the past or future.
This is going to sound a bit weird but bear with me. In the english language we say 'I am depressed/sad' but in the Irish language we say 'ta bron orm' which literally translates as 'I have sadness/depression ON ME', in english it suggests that sadness is a part of you but in Irish it suggests that it is a temporary state, something that you can shrug off at some stage. It allows for fluidity, the times in our lives when we have sadness on us but that sadness is always flowing in and out of our lives and never defines who we are as a person. When I have sadness/depression ON ME I recognise that I won't always feel this way and I learn to embrace it and learn from it (just like I can't be permanently happy I also can't be permanently sad)....I hope this makes sense? In the low times of your life you can learn so much about yourself, you choose to share your feelings which is wonderful and also gives encouragement to others to do the same (in particular men), you took your low point and turned it into some positive which is very brave and selfless. Don't be hard on yourself, you're human having a human experience, learn to love who you are during your low times just as you love who you are during your happy times. Remember you are a perfectly flawed human. This too shall pass...... xxxxx
I am very proud of you. That could not have been easy. You have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. We are all flawed and all imperfect. Perfection is an illusion.
Cheers God bless you as well
Being open to being vulnerable and talking about it takes exceptional courage. You've got my upmost respect. We could all be more open with how we feel. Keep strong brother
Cheers thank you

Hope to see more from you doing things in Vietnam, like eating local foods, traveling to different places, chatting with the locals, all those would be lovely.

Good to see you back. Your videos are fun and informative and have plenty of character and I've missed them. Sending positive wishes and good vibes from Toronto Canada!
Cheers thank you so much for that feedback. I'm looking forward to making more fun videos
Thanks for sharing. I am glad you are coming out of your depression. Take care!
Thank you you take care as well
Hey Bentley, I really enjoy your videos and always look forward to seeing them. Nothing in life is perfect, that’s what makes it interesting and fun. I’m 76 years old and I look forward to visiting Vietnam in the future, you make my desire to travel there so much more. Keep up with your doing, hope to bump into you
Cheers I really appreciate that. I hope you come visit Vietnam it's a great place
I'M GLAD TO SEE YOU'RE OK MAN ! 💕
Thank you so much man
Cheers!
Cheers I appreciate the supportive comment...working through it
You have good channel man, seem like a good dude!
It will pass! Be strong, sending support!!
thank you so much
Great to see you back brother! Your good woman is a keeper. There is no shame, we all go through this & some people are in denial, great thing is you see it & believe me there are better days ahead my friend! You are loved. 🙏
Thank you so much for the kind comment. Looking forward to better days
Think of it as your brain needing time to reset. Glad you listed the positives like a supportive girlfriend and family. Take whatever time you need to clear your head and ponder the now and the what's next💕
Cheers I think posting this was an important first step to getting back to a happier place
All good advice! Definitely gotta focus on the positive and ignore the negative
Cheers thank you for your support...I think this was a big step to getting back at it
Wow hope you’re feeling better dear ‘ you’re a very nice person’ 🤗❤️’ happy you’re back and doing better’
Cheers thank you very much
i make it a point to go outside the house and get some fresh air daily, getting up and enjoying life. Time is something you can not get back. Best of luck.
It's definitely healing to get outside. I got some morning sunlight today and that felt really nice
It's nice to have you back my man
cheers brother I got back in the gym yesterday. Back in today as well.
Well done, man. Keep up the good work!
I’m new to learning Vietnamese language and love seeing you travel around , it also gives me new places to eat
Cheers that makes me glad to hear
Hi Tyler, sorry to hear what you’ve been going through 😢. I’m glad you’re starting to feel better. Hopefully you’ll be back to your old self soon. 🙂
Cheers thank you...I'm getting there
I'm 49 years old and I live alone. I got depression quite often in the past but now I'm better. Try new things, even things you think you don't like, it will keep your mind busy. That's how I deal with it, I hope you will be back to normal soon. Cheers!
Cheers thank you
hang in there Ben. We are all love you and appreciate all your hard work and your struggling. God bless you and your family !!!!!!!
Thank you so much. God bless you and yours as well
It's good to see you back Tyler. Depression is nothing to be ashamed of, i believe everyone gets it to some degree. You have made the most important step to beating the black dog, and that is acknowledging and talking about it
Cheers no doubt. I feel like opening up about it was a weight off my shoulders in a lot of ways (weighs?)
Hey Tyler, I’m so happy to see you in a new video.
I plan to visit Saigon but the ticket is very expensive to fly to Việt Nam!
I hope one day to see you in Saigon and invite you diner ‘Mì Vịt Tiềm ‘ 😊😊
Where are you flying from? Hopefully you get to come out here some day soon
@@BigTimeBentley From Dallas, Texas.
Yeah. Hopefully, I will be in Saigon soon.
Missed your videos mate. Good to see your ok 👍
Cheers thank you
Bentley, I hope you can win the depression. You still have a lot of great things and people around you. Specially, you still have a great mother!
Cheers thank you
You’re only human❤❤I am gladly to see you again. Take care yourself❤
Thank you so much
Great to see you again Bentley. Thanks for your honesty, it’s important to tackle mental health issues. Get the (professional) help you need and don’t blame yourself. Looking forward to your hem vlogs - they are really solid content. Say ‘hi’ to your girlfriend, she’s a keeper 👍
Cheers I appreciate that. I'll be back to the hems soon
@@DamienYuen7718 noticed i said “i thought it would HELP me” i never said traveling would “cure” me. But yes you are right
Definitely wasn't the easiest video to film or publish but a step in the right direction I think. Cheers to you on your vlogging journey.
It's good that you know you have a problem and it's good the let it all out there in order to fix things.
Cheers I feel like posting this video was a big step
Cheers I really appreciate the words of encouragement
Small steps, man. Getting anything done,is a start.
Be kind to yourself. Don't beat yourself up.
Letting depression define you isn't going to help.
It's not OK to BE depressed. It is, however, OK to FEEL depressed. That can be the difference, as a state can not be changed, whereas a feeling can.
Cheers. It's been a series of small steps leading up to posting this. I feel like this was an important step and I'm glad I did it
Glad to see you again, was wondering about you.
Glad to be here
stay strong, Bentley. We are here with you always.
thank you so much
Sorry to hear that. Maybe you need a change of scenery. Hope you get better.
That's not a bad idea, maybe a trip is in order
Tyler - I am not going to pretend I know what you're going through, but I know what you're doing makes you happy and it makes all of us happy to see our UA-camr are still with us. I hope you find help dealing with this demon and stay with us my friend.
Cheers thank you...I'm still here
Please don’t be too hard on yourself. We all are imperfect people. Take care of yourself & know that you’re a great person. Hang in there!
Thank you so much
Watching your video reminding me a friend of mine, a foreigner living in Vietnam.
I'm glad that worked for him seems like good advice
Guy, let's plan a motobike trip to go somewhere outside the city for fishing, camping , so on, you will be better.
good idea!
Bentley, you’re the epitome of CACK. Keep your head up, boss. Keep pushing forward. There’s always a place for you here in Cali.
Cheers brother I really appreciate the comment and will hyu next time I come back home
Another thing would be help in setting up a Grab account
Hang in there buddy.
Those are great ideas for videos. I appreciate the support
Hang in there. Hope you have support over there. When you need it.
Cheers thank you
Hang in there, Bentley. Surround yourself with people that care about you as much as possible. Just take one day at a time and soon this shall pass.
Cheers that's a good mantra
Hope you feel better….,🥰😘😘
Glad you are back.... One day at a time 😁you're girlfriend is correct you are talented and it's great to see you smile 😁
Thank you so much
Yêu bạn, xin hãy giữ gìn sức khỏe thật tốt, lâu rồi không thấy bạn đăng video nên tôi thấy khá lo lắng.

Be kind to yourself! Don't beat yourself up.
Don't worry! be happy.
Cheers...might listen to some Bob Marley now after reading this
Go a short travel may help you? may you can visit a highland or beach for better. If you feel tired just slow worked, hope you will get well soon bro!
That's a great idea. A mini trip would be nice
You're right, I've got a lot to be grateful for...trying to focus on that as much as I can
Take a deep breath and then observe your thoughts, without judgement. It will help to break the spiral.
Thank you that's good advice
😎👍
cheers brother
Keep in mind,
Tough time will never last,
Only tough people do…
Man, just came across your channel.

Cheers that's good advice
Cheers I appreciate the comment
Keep a positive attitude and try hard to keep your girlfriend. She seems to support you and looks like a keeper.
in traditional medicine

'food is the medicine"

Cheers where are you from?
Some of us, beat ourselves up for small reasons or we dwell on certain events that can lead to a "Lowy/Downer" then we slowly get better and more cheerful, when we look back at the said moment and go "WTF" was i so down for. Just a personal opinion, Most times its other people that get inside our "Wall" and start to break it slowly. i give people 2 chances then its "See-Ya".
Cheers I appreciate that...in this case I think it mostly came from within. Was beating myself up
Stay positive my friend. Maybe it’s time to reach out to family members or friends you haven’t spoken to in a while, just to break the routine a little bit
Thank you, I will
Keep fighting….
Definitely will
Please think of depression as a chronic illness. Never be too hard on yourself. Please do what everyone does when they feel sick : take breaks and get up and do little things that everyone does example: take a shower, eat healthy. Your videos are very helpful.
Thank you so much. Good advice

Interesting linguistic perspective. Cheers thank you for the comment
Go to somewhere, such as the beach, sit at there and let your chaos think go away!
thank you
