    Another great vid guys. Nullarbor is Latin for "no trees". Look after those great kids! They are getting the absolute best education.

      Cheers mate, yep worked out it was a typo! Nullus and Arbor. Nullus for No and Arbor for trees. They are getting an unbelievable education. Cheers. :)

    Watching your family trip was good for my soul ,it brought back many fond memories of when I took my wife & two preschool age sons out there to live & work from a road construction camp about 70 k`s east of the border (1975) I drove a grader among other stuff.Thank you for sharing your trip .

      Hey Trevor! Thanks so much for your commment, and for following along on our journey. We are loving sharing what we do, and feel we have a lot along for the ride who have ether done it before or planning to do it. Must have been very different back in 75!!!!! Cheers!

    If you just left Ceduna you are about 400km from the Nullarbor. On the Eyre Highway you are only on the Nullarbor for about 20km. The vast majority is inland, The 90 mile straight is in W.A. Really enjoyed the video anyway. Yep, great showers at Nullarbor.

    hot tip for corrugated roads, deflate your tyers on your car and van, and your microwave won't fall out if you don't your Jayco will have all sorts of things falling off and water leaks.
    trust me the corrections get bad in WA roads due to tourist traffic from others not deflating tyers, enjoy ya trip thank you for the video

      They get a bad rap mate, but let me tell you value for money it is AOK in our book. We have had a few small issues, all fixable with a basic handyman capability. SA is massive underated, or perhaps undersold!

    @6.00 mark. I’m surprised by the comments that you needed to top up your batteries? I thought most caravan/land cruiser setups would charge the caravan batteries whilst driving via Anderson plug? That aside, how do you the rate the Land Cruiser as a tow vehicle? I’m thinking upgrading to a 200 series V8 diesel.

    • @barts1286
      @barts1286 3 роки тому

      With the way my van was set up out of the factory the Anderson plug powers the fridge while you are driving, but the batteries are not charging. The batteries only charge from the solar panels, or 240v charger when you have mains supply. As for the 200 series as a tow vehicle, great, powerful, comfortable and reliable but several things to consider are GVM limitations when loaded and not great range with standard fuel tanks, due to around 22 litre per 100km fuel consumption.

    You remind me of the travel with my family from Melbourne to Cairns in our car and caravan! 50 years ago Victorians waved at other Victorians!

    How would a semi off road caravan go on the roads off the highway? We were going to do Western Australia this year but hopefully next year! I bet that you are glad that you didn’t wait till 2020 to do your trip! Hope you are all safe in Victoria!

    Do you drop your tyre pressures when traveling rough dirt roads? Iam sure the cave trip would have been quicker. Enjoy

    • @todoingfamily
      @todoingfamily  5 років тому

      We should have Sharon, too lazy at first as thought ok, then it just kept on going. We were also concious with the microwave falling to take it slow anyway, so I think net speed would have been the same regardless. A great tip though, something we are learning about and testing as we go.

    • @todoingfamily
      @todoingfamily  5 років тому +1

      Still there! Don't use them too much, the 200 series mirrors are really good, but they are there and no issues. 👍
