  • IPhone 5 screen replacement.
Step by step instructional video, showing you how to replace the screen/digitizer, and how to put it all back together again.
The iPhone 5 screen is a complete screen assembly which means that you cannot replace just the LCD or the digitizer. The screen and digitizer are fused together at the factory and cannot be separated. Don't buy of ebay sellers who claim otherwise.

Hi Andrew: Great video. Thank you for this. Are you able to share the link to the manufacturer of the replacement screen you used? I am a bit leery of some of the ones I saw on eBay.
PS Good tip on why not to try and replace just the screen and not the entire unit. I would have tried the cheaper option.

you missed 2 small parts that are viisible on the original screen. one is a small plastic and metal holder for part of the proximity sensor, and the second piece is a small plastic "box" that insulates the top screw next to camera lens

I went to grab my phone off the table and it slipped out of my hands, I have a Logitech powershell game pad on it, so it had no protection in the front of the phone except for the springs on the buttons, it was so bull shit how it broke, I'm still mad about it because I got it fixed a month ago, I'm switching to a more durable phone because this is really stupid, I've dropped a galaxy note 3 after it fell out of my pocket and it didn't have a single scratch, an iPhone is like an old ass car, it will cost more to repair than to just buy a new one

The chances of breaking something changing the screen on a 5 are low as you don't have to remove the main board like you do in the 4. Just take your time and don't force anything.

beware, Apple has firmware updates that will render these useless after it's next update after your screen replacement, if it detects a fake chinese or counterfeit replacement digitizer/LCD from the front assembly's UUID, think you'll get an
*ERROR 53* on display (i cant remember exactly)

Awesome video - I was so scared to start messing with my phone... One piece of advice though... make sure you wait for Andrew to talk you through every step. I thought I should just remove the button when he mentioned this the first time, so rushed in... DON'T. Andrew shows you what to do step by step. If you rush off like I did, then you might need to replace the button as well... like I did when I ripped it off without taking off the metal panel first. I should have just followed this excellent video!

Great video! I am gadget handy and would like to start an iPhone screen repair company. Do you have any advice?
Where do you buy your iPhone 5/5s screens at?
Also where should I get the tool kit that will have everything I need?
You mentioned some eBay vendors sell screens that do not quite fit. What should I look for to make sure i am getting the right screen?
Lastly, in the area where you have to pry the screen from the double glued area. In the event that the glue is not sticky enough to stick. What glue should I use?
Thank you for your time mate!

It's really not that difficult. The small size of the components especially the screws is the only real challenging part.

I don't know if this has already been suggested, but a simple piece of clear packing tape over the cracked glass, and the suction cup should work. Esp if you lick it. Mine is shattered and the tape is keeping the shards together and I can use the screen. I am wondering how much this kit costs so on to looking for that.
