My intent with these REAL LIFE (real light) series is to bring you that soothing vibe of old school makeup tutorials mixed with present day techniques and products to help you look your best in real life situations. This is what I do to look my best in person and I hope it helps you look and feel your best too!! Thank you for your support, I really hope you love this one ❤️❤️❤️
I love this idea. I’m a fan of more tutorials with makeup we already have instead of so many reviews of new products all the time. My favorite is the Thrive Causemetics CC cream. Summer nights sounds perfect, can’t wait for the next video. Thank you!
Love this!!! Makeup looks so different on camera, then in real life! When I first started doing makeup along with videos like 3-4 years ago, I didn’t know that! I didn’t know that you don’t pour the whole bottle of foundation on, cake on powder, bake, and all that! An would get frustrated that I didn’t look as good as them! I’m so glad I found your channel!❤️❤️
Finally! Someone has actually given good advice on how to handle makeup/humidity! I’ve been struggling with this for years since moving to the east coast
I like using primers with SPF under makeup, like the Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Protect spf30 and the NARS primer spf 30 and 50. They work well under makeup
I always do reverse contouring I'm older so using alot less foundation makes my face and makeup look so much better I contour and use concealer first then only half pump of foundation to evenly blend everything together
So glad you did that foundation review where you recommended the Catrice True Skin. Tati said it was a favorite for her and now it’s sold out, but I got it thanks to you!
Absolutely love love love this look and your techniques!!! Can’t wait to see what you have in store to show us next!! Thank you so much, can’t wait to try this myself!! Way to go girl!!!
I Can’t wait for this series #MakeupForRealLife. I am so happy (I did guess when you asked) Natural !! I LOVE we I see people using natural light and not using all fake filters and such.. Also YES To Old-school tutorials I am so happy. I know it’s going to be amazing !!
I loved this and I can’t wait to see what you do next!! I live in the South and the humidity is unreal, it’s usually between 80-100% humidity. You’re literally sweating the second you step outside. I absolutely agree that less is more in order for the makeup to last and I do something very similar to what you did for my base. For lips I’m obsessed with the new Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom lipsticks. They’re a very pigmented, very shiny formula but shockingly long wearing. I think you would love them. They’re nothing like the Rouge Coco Flash lipsticks, those ones are pretty sheer and not long wearing at all. I hope you had fun at Target lol I’m jealous because the nearest Target to me is 2 hours away.
Yay Maryam! One of the reasons I LOVE your content is because you always show the skin up close on the iphone- its can be so hard to see what foundation actually looks like with all the beauty lights. It’s one of the reasons I trust your recommendations (I’m also oily AF) and have bought many of your fave complexion products - the Huda Skin Filter stick, Bobbi Brown Fluid to Powder, Essence primer. As someone who has acne prone and textured skin, I know it can be hard to show your skin up close or bare - your vulnerability and honesty is so refreshing. Thank you! You’ve allowed me to embrace lighter coverage & skin like finishes without anxiety. I love this series and learnt so much - it also reinforced a couple of techniques I already use. For my eyes on more casual days, I also like Charlotte T’s Eyes to Mesmerise (Rose Gold is my go-to for my hazel eyes). It’s quick, easy to blend out & you don’t need to be super precise, but it gives that wash of colour and shimmer. If I want to “dress it up” more, I’ll use a darker shadow on a precise liner brush to wing it out, or use a matte shadow in the crease for depth. I’m going to give your concealer trick a go for the air wing! If you feel comfortable, could you please maybe do before and after close ups (i.e no makeup/primer vs. foundation) so we can see the difference in these videos and/or foundation reviews? Thank you ❤️ I can’t wait for more of this series!
I’m totally here for these type of videos!!! Love a good tutorial/get ready with me. Especially from you my #1 favorite Could you please suggest a sweat proof foundation tip. I sweat on my face a lot in this hot humid NY heat as well 🥵 I don’t have to wear deodorant either I’ve never knew anyone else that didn’t have to wear deodorant.🤍
YES! So you need to try the powder under foundation method ( ua-cam.com/video/44t9Qy7E6MM/v-deo.html ) and the Bobbi Brown liquid to powder. It's the best!
I’m loving the Fenty Ease Drops and the Purlisse cc cream. I switch. Also the Dior no powder it’s 🥰. I also love a brown wing liner. It gives some sass without being too much... Ardell naked lashes and omg the collab lipliner in Burnt up!!! My fav!!!
I adore you, my luvie!! Great series idea, I am HERE for it! And ladies, she is clutch telling you about spf on that part!! I have burnt my scalp more than once. #SPFLIFE
Yes thank you for this! The average person doesn’t take photos in studio and camera environments.. I like make up that looks good in person that isn’t overly heavy.. thanks for sharing products!
Ok. I absolutely LOVE the thought behind this series. I love a glam moment, don't get me wrong. But I'm a mama of two little boys and I live in a very hot and humid climate. I really have just been wearing light and minimal makeup (with the occasional little twist to feel special) on a daily basis as I am doing ALL of the summer activities with my boys. I can't wait to watch more from this series!
I LOVE this idea! I love using a cream highlighter with a brush or beauty blender on bare skin, my favorites are: physicians formula butter highlighter in champagne & colourpop’s super shock cheek highlighter in flexitarian 💕💕💕💕
I was just at Coney Island last weekend and felt my eye makeup melting lol. I live in the SE now and it’s hot and humid as always. We’re here for you girl! Thanks so much for this series 😘
Girl I love this new series 😍 I can really appreciate that you went deep on why and how you achieve your look. Can wait to see more. Pen and paper on hand for your class.
It's true!! I always like to share my extreme closeups, but even those are filmed in studio light and aren't quite so "true to life" as natural lighting
Gorgeous look and I LOVE this series concept! This is what has been missing in the UA-cam space! Makeup has to be able to adapt to life and tutorials for that are rare! That lip combo is *chef’s kiss*!
Maryam you are a genius!!! This what I’ve wanted for SO LONG, MAKEUP IN REAL LIFE, YES 🙌🏼 💜 now I know why you couldn’t give me a hint on what your new series would be when we talked on DM! I wish more creators would do this! Everything looks so good under lights, bounce boards, beauty filters on cameras!!! I’m so ready and excited to watch this!!!!!
I am here!! I am so so excited for this. I’ll comment again lol. But had to just say I am present and super stoked!!! Watching it abs loving it already. 💕💕
So here for this new series on your channel!! I’m an old school UA-cam lover so this brings me so much joy !🧡🧡 (Haven’t watched it yet hahah but getting to that right now )
What an excellent video concept ♥️ So glad you alerted me to that NYX brow pen a while back. It’s been a to-go. I have it in a slightly lighter shade than my brow hairs which makes it especially difficult for me to overdo it.
I'm extremely oil and extremely sweaty face. And I love to wear stick foundations. So I apply only stick foundation on a bare face without moisturizer, without primer and no concealer as well. My foundation for my oily skin type is bobbi brown stick foundation and tom ford traceless foundation stick. Then I apply ton of Huda beauty easy bake in banana bread like there's no tomorrow. For under eye, Mac studio fix powder foundation in lighter shade is pressed and dusted underneath my eyes and T zone area. And buffing my skintone mac studio fix powder all over. PS- I apply minute amount of each base product except huda beauty easy bake so that in the end, I've sheer to medium coverage. Although I love liquid highlighter but it need to be set and the result way too much highlighter. So I use Charlotte tilbury Hollywood contour and highlighter both. And top it off with blush. No mascara, no kajal, no lipstick on everyday basis. Sometimes I leave the contour highlighter as well, but blush is my constant.
Found you on IG the other day and started watching your videos on here. Really enjoying your videos love your looks and personality. I’m happy to subscribe to you ! Stay cute ! 🥰😘
Sweet Maryam! We love this video concept!!! There are a lot of influencers that just aren't relatable to regular people for lots of reasons - sometimes because the makeup they are showcasing just isn't practical for real life. So glad to have someone putting out content that to recommend real life products, techniques, and looks for us mere mortals! My favourite real life products are Korean cushion foundations - nothing looks more true life on my skin. I also love using dark brown liner to tightline my upper lashes, it doesn't look like makeup, it is t harsh, it looks like naturally super full lashes. And I know I'm in the minority, but I swear I love the Becca No Pigment Foundation for the ultimate real life face. It just works for me when I want to look like I'm not wearing any makeup but my bare skin just isn't cutting it, and I'm not sorry to admit that I love it! Would love to hear about real life concealers. I know you've been loving the Fenty Bright Fix but I know you've got more favourite concealers up your sleeve! I find concealer is the hardest thing to get to look natural. Happy Wednesday, Maryam! 💕
I’ve now watched this video twice! I’m really trying your eyeshadow tricks and placement! I’m obsessed with how everything looks from the new Rose Gold collection by Laura Mercier! I was only able to get 2 eyeshadow sticks and everything including the highlighter was SOLD OUT 😣 As you know I had to put my dog child Solomon down so I’ve been distracting myself with a bit of of retail therapy and I want those Laura Mercier highlighter and each shade of her new collection. What Makeup by Mario pressed bronzer shade do you use? I like how you said it’s not super pigmented. The look came out GORGEOUS Maryam!! I would LOVE to see you film makeup you would wear to an outdoor, very much party and dance the night away wedding I’m attending later this month. Something where your makeup really lasts all day and night, a beautiful eye look with some glitter ✨ or shimmer! I’m also super curious what you think about the new Mascara by Wayne Goss!! xoxo Girlie 😘💜
Amazing video! I loved the idea and the tips you provided were all really handy and will help me a ton! Keep up the great work and you look gorgeous. That eye look is goals
Beautiful! I don't know if any creators have done this... I'd love to see a series of makeup tutorials done in natural light *instead of* studio light. I'm sure there needs to be a lot of planning to catch good sunlight but, non studio light makeup tutorials would be lovely.
YEESSSSS!!! I love this and I love you! It is not only super hot and rainy where I live, but I also turned 43. All that combined my makeup routine has evolved to less is more lol. My favorite things to use are Olay complete 30 SPF (and Neutrogena clear face SPF 55 for longer periods of time in the sun). I am also all about the tinted moisturizer (and if I need to I use your concealer trick for acne I learned from one of your videos).
Pumped over this new series, girl!!! These are the types of tutorials I live for and miss with my whole heart!!! Also, I've been saying the same thing about the fenty bright fix. It looks so amazing on my wrinkly undereyes. Most flattering concealer I've used thus far. And I have been urging everyone to use their finger tips to blend it as well!!!! 1000% agree with you. I think Deep Butter 07 would be your tan shade! I actually use Honey first to color correct a bit then I go in with Deep Butter to brighten, on my more full glam days!
Love where this new series is going girl! My go to for summertime is the complexion rescue ever since you recommended it! Would love to see a summer nights glam!❤️
Very nice video...super excited for this new series! Quick question are you planning to review the new Major Dimension Eyeshadow Palette? Any suggestion/test will be really appreciated!
So many tips this vid!!! -buffing pores! I totally learned this from WG and do it daily with base products. Its a must. -didnt know that about patrick star's powder! I felt it at sephora and have been curious!! -i gasped at pinching nose for inner corner lines! Mine never look right! 🙌👏💗
I love this series already. Far too many trying to help us find the best makeup products are also showing us these products solely in studio lighting and it's not translating into our real lives where texture is all the way on show. Also, here in Australia we have great companies doing 50+ matte sunscreens for us with oily skin or makeup wearers and my skin is so grateful. No shine to worry about.
Excellent video and Tbe series is a fantastic idea!❤❤❤ Thank you for the step-by-step tutorial. Very informative and helpful 👍! We ride our Harley every chance we get during the summer and sunscreen is a must! With the breeze it's easy to forget exactly how hot & humid it really is (Michigan) and we learned a very important lesson to sunscreen inside our ears and behind them as well! That has to be one of the most painful sunburns we have ever had! The peeling was unbelievable 😳! Thought I would share this bit of info to help someone avoiding such a horrible sunburn 💞💕💞. I'm a massive sweater in the sunshine 🌞! Can be very frustrating & embarrassing especially when you have spent the time to have a beautiful makeup look. I end up looking like a melting mess especially around my t-zone 🙄! Mascara can be another disaster! Thrive Cosmetics Mascara is a ride or die for me. No flaking or smudges 👌. I'm excited to put this look together with the products that I own. Thank you again 💓and I look forward to seeing your next video 🌸💐💞💕💞!
Once you have ridden on a Harley Davidson you will be hooked! There is nothing better than the sound of the motor and cruising down a smooth road 😎👌! I think you would enjoy Thrive Cosmetics!❤ 😉
I feel like a lot of people are getting married this summer that had to put it off from last year. Maybe an outdoor summer wedding look for either a bride or a guest would be fun. You could do more glam but it would definitely have to be real life and summer friendly. Love the series so far. 💗
I still want to let you know I never miss any of your uploads! I love your channel and content and am so excited for your new series! You always look beautiful
An idea for this series that I’d like to see is office/corporate makeup looks & tips? In every office I’ve worked in the constant aircon makes my oily AF skin go into overdrive by 3pm and the fluorescent lighting is so harsh. When I have to go out and meet clients in the afternoon or do after work drinks I cringe because my makeup looks rough - cakey yet you could fry an egg on my face and it is so hard to fix... any skincare, makeup tips would be appreciated!
I'm really loving this.. I feel it helps connect makeup UA-camrs a bit more to everyday gals like us who don't do as many dramatic looks.. I really love it! This was he perfect start to the series Maryam :D So proud of you for doing this
Can you try to incorporate the hourglass foundation stick in your series? I love that foundation but I can use some tips on how to make it look best on oily/combo skin.
My intent with these REAL LIFE (real light) series is to bring you that soothing vibe of old school makeup tutorials mixed with present day techniques and products to help you look your best in real life situations. @@themakeupexpeditionist YEASSSSSS!!! 🥳🥳🥳
I swear, this is what the community needed. Life does not have studio lights! Also, I would love some transfer proof foundations reviews
I love this series. I’d like 2 see an “no makeup, makeup “ look for an everyday workday.
I love this idea. I’m a fan of more tutorials with makeup we already have instead of so many reviews of new products all the time. My favorite is the Thrive Causemetics CC cream. Summer nights sounds perfect, can’t wait for the next video. Thank you!

My favorite go-to for Texas summers: GLOWING SETTING SPRAY,no precise brand.

Yeah the humidity is not our friend lol... OMG the nearest Target is 2 hours away?? You must have lots of peace and quiet around you then 😘😘

I’m all about eye shadow pencils for the summer! So easy and so light weight! I just got the colorpop ones and I love them.
I’m totally here for these type of videos!!!
Love a good tutorial/get ready with me. Especially from you my #1 favorite
Could you please suggest a sweat proof foundation tip. I sweat on my face a lot in this hot humid NY heat as well 🥵

Omg! I love this idea! Seriously love beauty YT videos but I always think this doesn’t work for my “real life”
Amazing!!! 👍🏼👏🏼🥳
It's true!! I always like to share my extreme closeups, but even those are filmed in studio light and aren't quite so "true to life" as natural lighting
I LOVE this series already! This is exactly what I needed 😊 I would love to see a look for a day in the boat or on the lake!
Um where have you been all my life? This is one of the best tutorials I've ever watched.
YEASSSSS!!! Makes me so happy 😘😘😘
I’m loving this brow combo now!!! Works so well for me. Thanks to you! 💕
YEASSS it's the best... super easy and no fuss once you get the hang of it
Very excited about this series! Love today’s look. 💕

What an excellent video concept ♥️ So glad you alerted me to that NYX brow pen a while back. It’s been a to-go. I have it in a slightly lighter shade than my brow hairs which makes it especially difficult for me to overdo it.

I'm sure there needs to be a lot of planning to catch good sunlight but, non studio light makeup tutorials would be lovely.
Oh I am SO here for this type of content! Thank you so much! Love the old school tutorial type videos 😃✌🏽
Happy Beautiful 43!!! ooooo I gotta try that Neutrogena spf 55 🥳
Pumped over this new series, girl!!! These are the types of tutorials I live for and miss with my whole heart!!!

Very nice video...super excited for this new series!
Quick question are you planning to review the new Major Dimension Eyeshadow Palette?
Any suggestion/test will be really appreciated!
I neeeeed to get my hands on it!! Strange bc I thought I got it...
So many tips this vid!!!

Love you Maryam! And love your content and editing too! Have a lovely day girl ☺️
Such a great idea (especially for new yorkers😩) love you! ❤️❤️
Man,I almost got lost 😂😂😂 haven't been here in a long time. But I haven't left the Maryam team.
Welcome back boo!!
Excellent video and Tbe series is a fantastic idea!❤❤❤
Thank you for the step-by-step tutorial.
Diane that sounds amazing!!! I've never ridden a Harley 😊😊 Will def try Thrive mascara too :)
Once you have ridden on a Harley Davidson you will be hooked! There is nothing better than the sound of the motor and cruising down a smooth road 😎👌!
I think you would enjoy Thrive Cosmetics!❤ 😉
Enjoyed this video a lot since in Florida and always exposed to the sun! Love this everyday look
Simply put - great idea! So simple, yet so innovative! Love that!

Slay Queen 👑 Lovely Video 💛💚💙💛
I'm so excited for this! Thank you, Maryam!
Love this new series!
I feel like a lot of people are getting married this summer that had to put it off from last year. Maybe an outdoor summer wedding look for either a bride or a guest would be fun. You could do more glam but it would definitely have to be real life and summer friendly. Love the series so far. 💗
Great idea!!!
I still want to let you know I never miss any of your uploads! I love your channel and content and am so excited for your new series! You always look beautiful
Thank you sweetheart!!!
OMG YESSSSS!!! I remember that office lighting feeling so well... greasy yet cakey
Ya office look is good theme for video
I'm really loving this.. I feel it helps connect makeup UA-camrs a bit more to everyday gals like us who don't do as many dramatic looks.. I really love it! This was he perfect start to the series Maryam :D So proud of you for doing this

Can you try to incorporate the hourglass foundation stick in your series? I love that foundation but I can use some tips on how to make it look best on oily/combo skin.
absolutely, it's one of my faves
