Aaron, there’s an alternative to double-sided tape for attaching templates - it’s cheaper and has an easier release. If you want to try it, you’ll need masking tape and superglue. Cheap stuff is all right for this job. Stick a piece of tape on the template and another piece on the corresponding spot on the plywood. Put two or three dots of superglue on the template tape, then press it down onto the plywood tape. When the glue has set, there’ll be a tenacious hold that prevents any slippage but the template will lift away easily when the routing is finished. Pull the tape, chuck it and move on.
