hey Ken, another great video. I agree with you in that all the years I was a carpenter, I never met a sparky or a plumber who ever cleaned up their messes. Didn't matter if it was commercial, industrial or residential construction, they would just do their work and leave. Even worse were the drywall mudders because there would be glops of dried mud all over the subfloor that we would have to chip off before the flooring guys could do their work.

I like the way that you angle the nails going thru the batten boards... 1 from the left and another close by from the right. I do ALL of my framing that way like thru sill plates into the studs and the same with top plates. I've had walls start to come apart while the bobcat hauls them from the trailer to the placement on the foundation. Angled nails - one each direction - hold 3-4 times better than straight-in nailing.

Wow, sold the playhouse too! That picking up of the playhouse went very well! That trailer he used was nice! The Kenstead looks a little "bare." Thanks for showing how you'll wire up the lights and fan and how the switches will be. Yay, the lights work! It looks so nice with the holes cut in the returns for the lights and the soffit installed. The battens look so nice! Beautiful! Kaiya found a piece of wood to chew on again. I wondered for a second why there was so much space on that one batten. All the battens on the tiny house look wonderful. I'm glad you found most of your materials. Too bad you had to go through so many boards to find your tongue and groove boards. I hope you can find the rest of the insulation you need too! It's looking great! Thanks for this video!

Something to think about for your next tiny house transportable build. They are using stranded wire for wiring as opposed to solid. Their reasoning is because of all the vibration during transportation. It is more like a camper than a stationary house.

One can never have too many outlets. I'd put one on each side and just tag them into an existing interior circuit. Everything is LED and low draw these days... except for power tools, kitchen appliances, and hair driers. I'd also allow one dedicated outlet below the breaker panel in case they want to use an electric heater on nights when other sources may be too much. BTW, code calls for 2 circuits on a kitchen counter so you can use a microwave, toaster, and coffee pot at the same time. Hopefully you picked up an 8 circuit panel so there's room for a mini-split at some point.

Looking good Ken. This is going to be a nice little house. Considering this is a tutorial on how to build, and I am getting some great ideas. When you were nailing the 'batons' to the side of house you were 'cross-nailing' one nail angled to right and one nail angled to left. I understood this would increase holding power, making it hard to pull off. When I built my little building for patio it was made on four heavy duty swivel casters. This makes it easy to move, but knowing the wind would also move I put trailer tong jacks on two corners to level and secure. Are you going to add corner jacks to help level? Have a great day.

The batton strips look real nice Ken. The HALO's look sharp too, I was inspired to install (3) Halos after watching Al' s video a year back now. I have (2) in the LR/Kitchen area & (1) at the top of the staircase to the attic, I2/2 cable throughout my house, built in the early '70's, requires a little creativity using heavy cable versus 14/2, because of the TINY boxes they come with, I put dimmers on the downstairs ceiling lights, specific to these Halo units, so now I have a 50 plus year old home with a dash of modernity...
I'm 90% plus recovered from wearing out my muscles & joints, ( cortisol levels ) since the end of May, 2023. Lost a full year recovering from this dreadful situation as I'm a ' mover & shaker, ' I'm always on the move, not one to sit around watching the grass grow...

Sorry i did not watch all the episodes... maybe you can just reply Ken - is your idea to produce more of these as a product, on demand - or is it a one off? Thank you

Curious to how your knees are doing and if the shots are keeping you pain free?

@@kenskarpentry I understand totally. I’m offered those steroid shots fairly often. As much pain as they create , not quite worth it. They don’t help me either. Might as well drink a glass of water; would work just as well.

Yep the new normal for wire price. It was 17.00 for years occasionally jumping to 29.00. What I hate seeing more than the price is jumping through hoops paroling wire out of the prisons they have it in. Now all the tools are under lock and key too. NOT the America I knew or like seeing. I hope it’s not the new normal for this country but I fear it is😢
