This current generation definitely needs to see this video!
It hurts 100% when someone you know is purchasing an expensive car beyond their capacity but doesn't even have an entry level health insurance to support his family in an unexpected situation.
Very true. People are investing in unnecessary things rather than health insurance.

Bought Creta base variant mar 2021. Rs 11.5lakhs on road. Paid EMI of Rs 15100/- for 3 years. Sold April 2024 @Rs 8.35lakhs after 33k km . foreclosed loan. Not to mention petrol and running cost for 3 years. Loss hi loss. Show - Off ki chakkar main bahut loss ho gaya. Reason for selling - EMI chalana muskil ho raha tha being middle class with family 2 kids and parents. Now I use my brothers 2010 model Alto whenever I need. It has AC and power steering. I m happy to be free from EMi and depreciation. Peace of mind .
Edit 1 - Forgot to mention something. I learnt that people don't care about your after market mods. I had done mods worth about 1.5 lakhs like 10.25 inch screen , Harman component speakers, faux leather seats , steering mounted controls , 16 channel amp etc, all people kept asking to judge it's price was whether it has sun roof or not. People really don't understand variants. They judge by three things , alloy wheels, touch screen and run roof ...
u were lucky Creta thi shayad isliye itne ache rate mil gye 3yrs old car ke
😂😂😂😂😂 what a nice story. Funny to read
Next time buy the top variant instead of base😊
Nice story and good decision.
Then why invested 1.5 lakh if you had 2 kids ...... bro show off krne kliye invest kro portfolio bnao car to aa hi jaegi ...... And secondly car use k hisab se lo not to impress or bhaukal

Sunroofs are the most useless feature in India, but still people want them for showbaazi.
True, and if someone wants to buy an automatic base model...these companies offer them with sunroof jacking up the prices .
It's not the sunroof but they give some good features only in top model which has sunroof
True. I own a Brezza ZXI. Not once I have opened it. Given the weather we have in India. We do not need sunroofs here.
90% ppl dont know the use of sunroofs. Sunroofs are meant for specific places and uses.. but in India things are bought for showoff not for the use...
In India sunroofs are bought for poking head out 😂😂

The statement that "car is a depreciating asset" is completely wrong. And the wrong part is "asset"
A car is not an asset, it is a commodity which you use and with use, its value will come down. So don't buy it like an asset, buy it like a commodity considering why you need it and will you be able to do justice to the hard earned money that you pay for it.
Car is definitely an asset if it is a commercial car
Absolutely true. A commodity is meant for consumption and it's bound to loose its value. One should buy whatever is in the reach.
A car is an asset if used for business, if it generates income like (renting) or if it improves productivity. A commodity is only for consumption.
Gagan is right in the video for calling a car an asset.
Most Indians today use cars as commodities and treat it like commodities whereas in other countries cars are maintained by car owners as if it's an asset to the owner. Older generation Indians treated the car as an asset and maintained it well.
All assets depreciate in value over time, so Gagan is right in stating the same as well.

Well said..cars are white elephants. I am a Doctorate in Mech Engg and have handsome income. I drive a 800 cc Renault kwid NXT which has all the requirements like power windows, power steering, entertainment, AC and most Importantly fuel economy. It gives me 28 km/ lit on highway after running 85,000 kms. It is compact easy to maneuver, easy to park and almost zero maintainance cost. It's pickup is extraordinary, even big SUVs can't beat it and when i overtake them on highways, i feel sorry for them. My colleagues who earn half of my income drive SUVs and they drive only on weekends because for daily travel, the cost is exorbitant and parking at work place is big problem. Earlier they used to tease me but now they are appreciating me but I don't bother about their comment I am happy with my life and that is important to me..
City driving is fine, but what about safety in highways? Kwid probably received 0 star safety rating!
Do we need safety build quality in city rides?
And for god sake, if u r really unfortunate then no saftey is adequate in front of the luck.

Safari is not for middle class people period....Its for upper middle class and rich people who already have a german luxury car at home. Their priority is comfort, luxury, safety and road presence. They are not bothered about middle class things like resale, service network, mileage, maintenance cost.etc. They are not bothered about minor electronic glitches, since they already have 2-3 other cars at home and also only few units have glitches not all of them. Yes a much needed information and piece of advice, i thought of upgrading to creata N line and it costs me close to 23+ lakhs i will stick on with Honda Amaze brought on 2018 it still works fine and has Honda reliability I wanted to change only because of my friends peers and cousins and none are going to support me financially anytime, so it would make sense for me to save this money and use them to buy me home sometime later in the future.

One thing which everyone fails to understand. Cars are not asset, they are consumables. Similar to AC, Fridge, mobile etc... You buy it for luxury, not to earn profit on sale.
The thumb rule is to buy a car worth half your budget. If your budget is 10 lakh, buy a second hand for a 5, if it's 5, and you don't get a good car, you're better off not buying a car.

People are buying suv not just because of the trend. The fault lies also in the infrastructure and reducing parking spaces. For example I chose suv because of their class leading GL and a sedan was not fitting in my garage which is why I went for elevate instead of city even though I wanted city since childhood.
Bad roads and unscientific constructions are the reason why people buy tall hatches

Your observation that it pains to pay in real cash vs online - that's so so true.
Middle class should not spend more than 6 lakhs for a hatchback or more than 10 lakhs for a mid size car. Many cars are available in this range.
Currently my go to recommendation for family purpose is either MS Baleno or Fronx(1.0 turbo) if going for a hatch. In sedans Honda Amaze is a very practical car for everyday use and long touring. In sub compact SUVs, either sonet or brezza. This is my upper limit and I'll not go for anything higher than this segment. I may compromise on few gimmicky features but I'll not have any major reliability issues as well. Because as the elctronics keep getting loaded in a car, so are the reliability issues. I'm not interested in Tata or Mahindra because of small niggles those cars have.
I also purchases Honda Amaze top model in 2024 after maruti Alto base model for 15 years

I have been following you for a long time, and I agree with every point you have made. Although many people nowadays fall into the trap of digital money and easy money availability, I could completely relate to the part where you said, "Pay in cash." I did this when buying my home. Then figure out your finances - This will give you price range
Take multiple testrides (alone & with family) of whatever cars you've shortlisted
