Lisa I would totally love to see a smack down. I just ordered my first Samsung device I have been a very heavy IOS user and I am nervous lol. Please do a smack down video of these two beast !!!!
Not that I am in the position to recommend anything but may I suggest a smooth head tripod for the camera? Smooth motion would really look good with the channel.
Oh fuck I wish I would have waited a little longer but my phone died in December and I needed a new one so I got me a HTC One A9 but the internal memory is too fucking small, I have to get rid of pictures, some apps, even some of my music. This one has like 32 GB of internal memory plus an SD card slot. Damn you Samsung, couldn't have you released this phone way earlier? Thanks for the thorough review Lisa, keep up the good work. Always a pleasure to see you cover the latest tech releases so quickly!
Thank you so much I have ordered a Galaxy S7 from my carrier (consumer Cellular} and enjoyed watching your review very much. I have not gotten the phone as yet, but will tell you this phone will be the first from a major manufacturer. I am preparing myself and thank you so much for being so informative.
Been using my S7 for like a month now and I can honestly say it's the best phone I've used so far. Camera is absolutely fantastic and while the reviewer showed a very unfocused film, the phone's camera records impressively good. I love it! :)
Lisa, you always do great in-depth reviews. One comment you made was regarding carrier branding....and I'm glad to be with T-Mobile and one reason is they don't stamp the outside of the phone. :) I would love to see an S7 vs iOS review. Best of each going head to head. Thanks again for the great review.
I got a new S7 Edge on launch day but I'm returning it tomorrow and going back to my iPhone 6s Plus. I really wanted to love this phone and it is gorgeous! But after five days of solid use here's what I've found that is causing me to return the S7 Edge: 1) Performance: Out of the box the S7 Edge is fast but over time it has started to slow down and lag. This is especially noticeable when using Chrome and UA-cam. There are several speed tests on UA-cam that confirm this. My iPhone 6s Plus just feels smoother and faster than the S7 Edge during every day use. 2) Touch screen sensitivity: I thought it was just me but others have complained about the sensitivity on the S7 Edge touch screen. It's way too sensitive. Just brushing your finger on the screen will trigger a click. It's very annoying and apparently can't be fixed by the user. 3) Software: No surprise here but the user interface just isn't on par with iOS. Touchwiz is improved but is still too gimmicky. There's even a bigger disparity when it comes to apps. Apps like Facebook, Twitter and others are just designed better on iOS than on Android. 4) Speaker: The external speaker on the S7 Edge sounds cheap compared to the iPhone 6s Plus. 5) Battery life: The battery is disappointing compared to the iPhone 6s Plus but of course the iPhone is bigger and is driving a lower resolution display. Beauty can be skin deep and in the case of the Galaxy S7 Edge once you really get to know it you begin to see the flaws. For now I'll keep my 6s Plus and wait for the iPhone 7.
So I just ran Antutu on my Galaxy S7 Edge from AT&T and it scored 135,207 and features the Snapdragon 820 SOC. I just got the phone today and so far i'm loving it. The screen is freaking gorgeous! It meets Apple's definition of Retina from a viewing distance of just 7 inches from your face and further back. (534 pixels per square inch!)
Kold Yeah. A little part of me says yes to 4K. But a bigger part hopes we wont. A 1440P screen is already Waaaaaay beyond Retina as it is. Plus it will suck up CPU power.
Kold Yeah. Expect a typical 40% improvement in CPU/GPU performance with the S8. Most all phones going forward will now be incremental jumps in tech. Phone's like My Galaxy S4 had plenty of power to last me 3 years and had no problem running the latest apps.
That phone will be 350$ a year after from now... And after 4 years, there won't still be an update to Android N... I know samsung well enough to never trust them again.
after a year. sell it for 350. Pay of your carrier and get the next model. never have to have an old phone. don't worry about updates, when it launches if you don't like what it does... don't buy it. expecting extra features a year or two later is ridiculous. how many features ate added to a laptop 2 years later? nothing coming from the Company that created it.
+Dominic Dymond or spend money on things that actually matter...it's crazy to update yearly..especially when most of the time the upgrades are minuscule.
+Young Travels I've had note 2 3 4 edge and 5. I might be crazy but I rollover the money I get from selling the old one to buy the new one. it works for me.
Lisa, I love your reviews. I'm going to be replacing my iPhone 5s sometime this year and this is really tempting. Cupertino has some work to do that's for sure.
I just love your reviews. I always c ok me to you for your reviews and base my options on what you say. I'm considering changing college path to Computer Science lol. Great work!
Lisa, you're phone reviews are the best. I'm sporting an iPhone 5S and considering whether I should get the Galaxy S7 or wait for the iPhone 7. How does the the battery life compare to the iPhone 5S in real everyday usage? I don't play video games and don't consider myself a power user. Also how does the loudspeaker compare to the iPhone 5s for music? Thanks!
Hi Lisa, I'm wondering if you've ever done research on external microphones for smart phones. I'm an android guy with an HTC One after having the Galaxy S 6. I've done a little research and found reasons for compatibility issues so I'm looking for your opinion of what microphones are good as well as compatible.
10:40 actually, larger photo sites do not help low light performance at all. The A7s has a lower resolution sensor so that the processor can handle sampling every pixel on the sensor when recording video (full sensor readout). High resolution cameras (A7R) require too much processing to sample the entire sensor and instead, skips lines (pixel binning) which result in less information captured. For still photos, resolution is irrelevant to low light performance.
It would be nice if you can compare the battery life when doing the s7 edge review. The edge likely has better battery life but it would be nice to see how they compare. Also how the curved screen affects viewing with reflection. They seem to have taken quick charge 3 away in favour of quick charge 2.
Lisa, how about a window phone with a windows surface pro and moving on to a PC with widows 10... how seamless would anyone's world be if they really did buy all three?
Thanks for your advice. I had no idea Xiaomi even existed, I have been watching videos on their products all morning! Do you know how the tech does in America? Does it interface with the carriers or would I have to be pay-as-you go? Can't thank you enough for the recommendation.
+Joshua You are more than welcome. I am sorry but i am not from America so i can't help you with the carriers issue. I can only tell you that XIAOMI did an amazing combination between the IOS style and the Android's open world.I really think you should check it out because it looks fantastic to be honest.
+Joshua I am a lucky because my country have decided to bring this phone officially with all the adjustments needed It is a big company here which usually doesn't bring shit phones :-)
TBH as a 6S and 950XL owner, I'm not even that tempted in the slightest with the new S7 series. Unless Samsung starts doing more frequent os updates and abandon their bloatware, there's no real incentive for me to even consider them over my current phones.
quick question have you encountered any battery issues with the regular s7? i noticed that android os and android system is drainin alot of battery, for example i left my phone on at 100% from midnight to 7am it went down to 87% is that normal or is there something off the top two things were android os and Android system...any suggestions? thanks
Would really like the option of the S7 Active in Australia but they seem reluctant to bring it out here because of low volume or people think it's ugly. I like the extra protection outdoors for cycling.
I wish and hope @samsung would bring back the leather back to the note, I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (yes I know it's a grandfather) and the leather back gave my phone a different quality of feel. I loved the leather back, it made my phone feel like a notebook
For me the camera performance in low light is the winner. I am required to take a lot of pictures in low light restaurants and during evenings and with my current GS5 without flash, one would be better off using Voice Recorder. At a recent dinner a friend took a picture with her GS7 while my gf did the same with her iphone 6 and after looking at the GS7'S photo she wanted to throw her iphone and MacBook pro and all evidence of being an Apple Person into a volcano from her native Iceland.
I've used both apple and samsung flagships for a while and what I can say is; Apple is great when you don't want to mess around with and just want it to work right out of the box, and software upgrades/overall user experience is smoother and elegant> Samsung is great when you want your own customization, and extra features (camera, water resistance etc), but overall user experience is lacking and especially software support SUCKS (but that's party due to android ecosystem at large; so can't blame it all on OEMs, unless its close to stock such as oneplus or HTC) Choose whichever you want. I chose S7 bc although I knew it will stop upgrading after two years its 300 bucks cheaper and water resistance had me intrigued.
Lisa, you should touch on how the Active Display works. From what I've read, it's kind of useless in comparison to the Motorola and pure Android iterations.
Anthony White Man, you and me both! I did the same thing ended up buying G4, and I couldn't be happier. But now they changed the position of the volume buttons of the G series. I mean that was one of the two major things that separates LG from other android phones. Also one of the two reasons why I bought G4, now I'm not gonna buy G5, I think I'll go with V10 until LG make up their mind and listen to their customers just like samsung did with the expandable storage and water resistance.
+Ozan Erbektas The only reason I didn't buy the V10 was the additional cost, but that's another kick ass phone. I think the LG line is going to be Samsung's real competitor.
Anthony White I disagree, Samsung's real competitor will always be Apple, in my opinion. If you are saying, Samsung's real competitor in the Android ecosystem, that might be true. :)
I love Samsung... I love phones... I love Lisaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...
+April Magri Hey!! April, how's it going down under?
MobileTechReview you are werid
I'm a Nexus fan.... just ordered the edge 7. saw it in person and knew instantly this phone is awesome.
Awesome
+Sumpter Carter you will get Android N sometime after the S8 is released.
+Sumpter Carter Well, it does have a snapdragon processor so you can probably flash a custom rom on it.
+Sumpter Carter you're gs7 already has all the features that the android N will be bring to the market. With slit screen being the only new features
Lisa I would totally love to see a smack down. I just ordered my first Samsung device I have been a very heavy IOS user and I am nervous lol. Please do a smack down video of these two beast !!!!
Snapdragon 820 is a quad-core CPU. The Exynos 8890, which is what non-us versions of the Samsung Galaxy S7 have, has an Octa-core.
Always a pleasure to see you cover the latest tech releases so quickly!
I love your reviews. you're so good at being fair and thorough.
So happy to see the s7 get its own review without being ignored by the edge cuz those curves doe like with every other reviewer. Thanks Lisa!
Seriously
big props for Samsung making those batteries big , hope they do this with the Note 6
Screen seems so reflective it spoils the video. As always very good review, Lisa Gade one of my favourite reviewers. Consistant and full review.
...Your reviews are always the best Lisa. Always my first point of call when switching devices. Great review!
I've never been early on a video before... Thanks Lisa for the review!!! I've been waiting for this!!!!
Been using my S7 for like a month now and I can honestly say it's the best phone I've used so far. Camera is absolutely fantastic and while the reviewer showed a very unfocused film, the phone's camera records impressively good. I love it! :)
the review i've seen so far, congrats!
Lisa, you always do great in-depth reviews. One comment you made was regarding carrier branding....and I'm glad to be with T-Mobile and one reason is they don't stamp the outside of the phone. :)
I would love to see an S7 vs iOS review. Best of each going head to head.
Thanks again for the great review.
Daaaamn Samsung! Back at it again with beating the Iphones!
The S7 looks fantastic. I think it will be my next phone when I'm ready to upgrade
+UnlimitedProduction1 yes, in 3 years time ready to buy 7 when 10 is out
I got a new S7 Edge on launch day but I'm returning it tomorrow and going back to my iPhone 6s Plus. I really wanted to love this phone and it is gorgeous! But after five days of solid use here's what I've found that is causing me to return the S7 Edge:

Beauty can be skin deep and in the case of the Galaxy S7 Edge once you really get to know it you begin to see the flaws. For now I'll keep my 6s Plus and wait for the iPhone 7.
Lisa rules. I love the unexpected "big air" commentary :)
I was just about to start wondering why people only did s7 edge reviews and not the s7.
Ready for your S7 edge review! I opted for the black onyx.

Agreed

I was waiting for this!!!
Lisa, I love your reviews. I'm going to be replacing my iPhone 5s sometime this year and this is really tempting. Cupertino has some work to do that's for sure.
I would like the smack down with the iPhone
03:08 Snapdragon 820 - Octacore?
I just love your reviews. I always c ok me to you for your reviews and base my options on what you say. I'm considering changing college path to Computer Science lol. Great work!
SMACKDOWN - yes please with iPhone 6S
thanks for the great review
Im a Apple fan but must Admit this looks awesome...
Thanks!
Phone is amazing. Screen and camera are awesome. It looks good and its really easy to hold with the new curved design.
I tried the camera, holy balls its autofocus is blazing fast! really crisp and bright as well.
So, do you prefer the regular S7 or the S7 Edge?
Do you think the S6/Edge will be fine for the next 2-3 at least?
Great review as always Lisa! 👍
I'm a huge Apple fan, and Samsung is tempting me with this one.
Come join the dark side :)
P.S you'd better off buying a Nexus though. no lags and fast updates!
Which phone is better? I can't decide between the Lumia 950 or the S7.
idk why but it minds me so much when u faced ur phone screen down on the table!
Went from an S4 to an S7, and I must say . . . WOW!
Great Samsung Galaxy S7 Review!
Such an amazing phone. Hopefully, Samsung can improve software support for the S6 and S6 edge when Android N gets released.
the release date is 19th. this is so freaking long time to wait!!! Everybody around the world got it already. 😔
much appreciated for the great review .. keep up the great work! thanks
Love your videos! please do a smack down between this and the iPhone 6s or 6s Plus!! Can't wait for your next video!
+Chris P. Bacon Luckily I'm not an Apple fanboy! Haha.
you always give very good reviews! Thanks.
Just wondering how the battery life compares to iPhone 6s?
Am I the only one who misses the IR blaster?
Gonna miss it😳
In the winter it's pleasantly warm. Lol. Great reviews here!
10:40 actually, larger photo sites do not help low light performance at all. Are they making an Active version or a mini of this phone?
Does the s7 still have the motion feature of putting your phone up to your ear to make a call?
Does the S7 has S beam. where you share photos.
Are there any differences between the Snapdragon version and the Exynos version regarding LTE band support or charging technologies?
It would be nice if you can compare the battery life when doing the s7 edge review. The edge likely has better battery life but it would be nice to see how they compare. Also how the curved screen affects viewing with reflection. They seem to have taken quick charge 3 away in favour of quick charge 2.

Glad T-Mobile has the snapdragon model. I probably I'll wait to upgrade my Note 5 to the Note 6, but it's good to know.
I'm looking for a good stylus phone. Would the Note 5 still be top of the market or is S7 eclipsing it in specs? Should I wait for the Note 6?
+Joshua I will strongly recommend to check the "xiaomi 5".
The reviews are incredibly positive ,without mentioning the great price
Thanks for your advice. I had no idea Xiaomi even existed, I have been watching videos on their products all morning! Do you know how the tech does in America? Does it interface with the carriers or would I have to be pay-as-you go? Can't thank you enough for the recommendation.

Pumped! Preordered the S7 Edge Gold platinum and gonna get Gear VR! 😊😊😁
Got mine Monday. Still gotta wait for the VR set though. For some reason you have to claim it separately -.-
+*TurtleMayCry* yea herd about that 😧
which speaker is better, 6s o s7?
The photo quality from S7 just amazing. The best so far........put some camera on shame
nice, fixed everything I hated about the s6 - but I'm a bit obsessed with the design of the Xperia XA now.
what is the purpose of the curved glass anyways and does anybody find that the screen is too sensitive and way too easy to hit on the wrong button?!!
great reviews , i always check out what you have to say on new tech
squirclelized ja lisa that made me laugh, nice review, a world exclusive as far I can tell
TBH as a 6S and 950XL owner, I'm not even that tempted in the slightest with the new S7 series. Unless Samsung starts doing more frequent os updates and abandon their bloatware, there's no real incentive for me to even consider them over my current phones.
good job as usual Lisa!
What about audio recording quality - how many dB can it handle?
Thank you :-)
In almost all the video camera was unfocused.
quick question have you encountered any battery issues with the regular s7? i noticed that android os and android system is drainin alot of battery, for example i left my phone on at 100% from midnight to 7am it went down to 87% is that normal or is there something off the top two things were android os and Android system...any suggestions? thanks

I'm still rocking that 3 best phone ever generally upgrade ever year but nothing worth upgrading too. 3 still giving em a run for it.
Where the hell are the new Galaxy Megas?? I can't go back to these small ass phones!
Hi Lisa, you said the S6 screen is brighter than S7 screen. Did I hear that right? 'cause all the reviewers out there says otherwise.
Damn the S7 is gonna pwn 2016. Except for the price, this is what a flagship killer should be.
I absolutely Love your videos! Yes we would all like to see a smackdown...
Monthly payments too high, 30 months too long, price crazy high ,won't break the bank for it. But it is sharp!
I've used both apple and samsung flagships for a while and what I can say is;
Apple is great when you don't want to mess around with and just want it to work right out of the box, and software upgrades/overall user experience is smoother and elegant>
Samsung is great when you want your own customization, and extra features (camera, water resistance etc), but overall user experience is lacking and especially software support SUCKS (but that's party due to android ecosystem at large; so can't blame it all on OEMs, unless its close to stock such as oneplus or HTC)
Choose whichever you want. I chose S7 bc although I knew it will stop upgrading after two years its 300 bucks cheaper and water resistance had me intrigued.
I currently have the HTC One m9, I'm hesitating to get the Samsung Galaxy s7.... can u please help me decide...
Lisa, you should touch on how the Active Display works. From what I've read, it's kind of useless in comparison to the Motorola and pure Android iterations.
Will the MHL/HDMI adaptor that works with the Note 4 work with the S7 for external display?
Can you please do a comparison of the Exynos 8890 and the Snapdragon 820 processors?
+NoLimit56 Gaming Probably won't be able to since Samsung isn't sending the Exynos version to the US where we're located.
+MobileTechReview oh ok thanks anyway.
i may have to switch again to a Galaxy. from my LGV10. I have to wait for your lg 5 review
i want a smackdown of the Samsung galaxy S7 and S7 Edge
The 820 is a quad core. So many 'expert' reviews are calling it an octo core, but it's quad. This is driving me nuts and clearly confusing people.
+Kold My life is lovely, thank you.But carrying the burden of knowledge does get hard from time to time. ;-P
I wonder that display on will cause amoled burning in time if you keep it always on.
That VERIZON tramp stamp just kills it! Such a beautiful phone ruined by a carrier. That's why I got a N6P.
what microphone is she using?
+fenkicorp Sony wireless mic.
Can you rearrange the icons on the dock?
Does the sim tray support dual sim? Like interchanging the SD card with a sim?
+tayyab rafi No, single SIM.
I would expect any phone to be water resistant at this point, exactly how one would expects for his watch.
i think water resistant is a good feature for the S7
Samsung should offer the S7 for a $100 with a trade in of the S6.
+Anthony White I totally agree with you man! Up you go!
+Ozan I almost bought the S6 last year, replacing my reliable S2. I ended up with the G4 and glad of it. The G4 has one kick ass camera.
The photos and video look so blurry. There's detail, but why so fuzzy?
I got this phone a month ago love it
What laptop do you use for these videos?
