One of the most important positions that no team wants to pay for. Good for him.
But not good for our salary cap. It’s never good to overpay for a player, they’re literally paying double what he deserves.
@@82saw3 it’s not an overpay. It’s an important position that has historically been underpaid for. I’m glad he held strong he did all goalies a favor. The idea that a player is worth where the rest of the market is at is how you end up with terrible contracts like Darnell Nurse being paid what the market dictated a defenseman was worth, when any fan should have been able to say that was a massive overpay based on talent alone. Swayman is one of the best goalies in the league, he should be compensated for that. Maybe he should have accepted a one year prove it deal before this but nonetheless his performance merited something like this.
THANK GOD we would've never heard the end of it if we let two all-star caliber goalies go in the same off season
.933 save percentage is actually insane
only 132 games played, not insane at all with such a small sample size. He has never even played a full season yet.
@@AlwayzFresh I see what you're saying but I still think that is a great accomplishment. Saved the Bruins from making a horrible record in American sports too.
@@AlwayzFreshkorpi is at .900 over much more games, you needed this lmfao
No goalie plays a full season wtf does that matter
@AlwayzFresh, whose fault is that not swaymans his opponents are not cherry-picked, he should have got 8.5
not an overpay at all, he’s their star goalie
Honestly Swayman could end up being a top 3 goalie
Highly doubt they are gonna put him in net on Tuesday after not having any practice or pre season games for so long
Little bit of an overpay but whatever. Now the question is whether or not Swayman can handle a true starter's workload.
It's only a *little* bit of an overpay if he *can* handle it and they win the cup in the next few years... otherwise it's a huge overpay.
It’s not an overpay. Goalies are the hardest position to fill in hockey but they can expect to get paid worse than everyone else. That’s fucking bullshit and you can’t justify that by just saying “well it’s a risk with goalies”. Swayman isn’t just doing this for himself, he’s trying to raise the bar for goal tenders to finally get a fair share of the cut of money the NHL brings in. Owners make fans believe dumb shit like paying goalies too much will somehow make them worse because of “expectations” when really they just don’t wanna give more money to players in general. They want to horde as much of it into ownerships pockets as possible and idk how you can justify passive income in this day and age as being anything but a way for rich lazy people to screw everyone else over so they don’t have to work like a normal human being
Yall only think it is overpay because goalies are heavily underpaid.
No it’s not an overpay at all
@@meme_ajingoalie is most important position I don’t understand how anyone thinks overpay
Bussi what a name lol
The next goalie in their system is Reid dyck
@@CJRames Lol I love it
Still can't top Hakan Loob or Rob Tugnutt 😂 But none of them can hold a candle to Richard Trickle...RIP. May you forever drive circles in the sky. ✌
@@MrStkrdknmibalz9799 hahaha that made me laugh
Bussi is easy to rattle at the bridgeport AHL Games we go hard on his last name and destroyed him mentally then they brought in the back up goalie and we rocked the barn with hey we want some bussi chants for 2 more periods making sure it was heard in the locker room
Non goalie people saying I can’t wait for him to suck don’t understand he is too good positionally calm alsways square to the puck insane confidence from the faceoff show and what he did in that he just can’t fail
Pressures on him to perform now
The lack of games played is such a ridiculous argument in this case, because it is Boston that limited his games played with the 1A/1B system … a system that they want to get rid of, except the lowballing the salary part.
No offer sheet from a rival team. Baffling. They all could have crippled Boston regardless of wheteher the Bs matched or not. What a missed opportunity to finally get rid of the bruins. Now theyre set for another 8 years.
:)
The draft compensation was too much no surprise why no team went there.
Bro the compensation would've been a 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd, plus paying the 8.5 or whatever contract to make that happen.
@@mitchelln5613+ crippling the Bruins!
@@vajrasiddhi + your own team in the process
I loved this whole saga. Bruins mismanagement team fumbled this whole negotiation. On the plus side, it just showed 31 other teams what NOT to do during negotiations.
After all the stress and bullshit, he caused Boston fans he better show the fuck up.
Idk about “saved their season”, the Bruins’ goalie coach is arguably the best in the business. He made Anton Khudobin a serviceable starter while Rask was hurt
Don Sweeney/Bruins FO masterclass strikes again 😂
This has nothing to do with Don Sweeney
Gave 2 softies on Game 7 in 2023. He plays behind the best defensive team in the league. A team who broke the NHL point record in 22-23. Athletes now want to be payed before they accomplish anything.
Prove yourself as the #1 for 2 years at 6.75 m before asking anything above 8. You know, like any freaking goalies who ever got paid above 8 millions a year.
But its the Bruins, the joke is on them.
oh yeah there’s still fans ragging on him 😭
Does anyone think that Boston may have regretted trading away Ulmark and keeping him instead of Swayman cause at points Ulmark played better than Swayman and he probably wouldn't have had as big a contract as Swayman. Granted Ulmark is 6 years older so maybe that was the determining factor of letting go of Ulmark instead.
Hard saying not knowing, which was the big hurdle getting him signed. Yep, age was definitely a factor, and they want to make the most of Swayman's prime along with Pasta and McAvoy. Ullmark was also a fairly average goalie before Boston (albeit on lesser teams), whereas Swayman was showing his potential from the beginning. We'll see. Everyone's saying the pressure's on Swayman now, but Boston's FO still has to figure out how to put a good team around him with little in draft picks/prospects going forward. I'm more concerned about the Lindholm/Zadorov investment than Swayman, tbh. More so than Swayman, I'd say the cap going up while expiring contracts and bonuses to Bergeron/Krejci coming off the books and getting core players signed long term is what's saving the Bruins right now.
I mean they can definately just keep Korpi in the net for opening night. He's supposed to play some games, let the man play 🤷🏻
I absolutely crushed the draft in my hockey pool, drafted Swayman late, might be the best pick in the entire draft
money chasers never end well in boston, idk
Tbh i hope he left it wouldve been an insane ending and i fricken hate the bruins but i love swayman
1:00 what was that name?
Swayman 'seems' overrated to me...more a product of the team rather than his own skill...kinda like the Detroit goalies in the 90s (Not counting Hasek)
I think Boston could have an average goalie with the same result because of the team skill and style.
Boston fans would know better though, I've not seen enough of him.
Now watch him get injured in the 1st game....
I know, THANK GOD
Thanks
Its pronounced boosy not bussy 😂
Hope people can stop crapping on him now. Knowing the whole picture now, there's no reason for doing so. One of the few things I did like about the over-hyped Prime series was its profile of him. Good guy, great athlete.
Yep I knew Swayman would sign before the Season started now will all these idiots calm down already plus he the reason the Bruins got as far as they did last Season so shut up about him now people let him be move on.
As a Bruins fan , I just wanted Sway to stay after everything.. I've got no time to sort through the weeds of it all. Pre season B's sucked and all the other teams were acting a fool hurting one another. Just play hockey boys LFG!
GO SEAHAWKS
Crazy how Amazon Prime showcases Swayman in their "Face Off" trailer, yet Boston's bean counters complain that his taste is too expensive for their liking. (Or, at least his agent's liking)
But I'm a Stars fan, so let the season begin.
66>64
This had nothing to do with money, and by all accounts was a feelings battle. Otherwise you would never hold out on either side over such a small amount.
I think Swayman's agent pulled the same thing he did with Johnny Gaudreau and didn't tell Swayman what the Bruins offered. I think that's why Cam said what he said publicly so Swayman knew what was on the table.
@@angushiltz4880that’s the most Boston homer take physically possible 😂😂
@@NoPe-n1j Not if you knew how his agent has acted in the past.
Bro gonna get bought out like Jack Campbell
The big bad bruins with their crybaby goalie
JA
Still better than the leafs❤
Hopefully they miss the post season
Or completely annihilated our cap space making it impossible to sign another forward who’s capable of scoring 20 goals.
15 seconds
Michael Hage 4 point debut in Michigan. Wow
I'll make a bold prediction the Bruins and their fans will one day regret this contract.
I second that prediction
i already said it
I’m so happy rn
happy for u guys

I cant wait see swayman flop after all this. I wanted to snatch korpisolo and start him in fantasy now i am bitter
yeah can't wait to see Boston not be relevant for the next 8 years haha
he's too technically skilled to flop. literally. his technical game is too developed. like price. injury would be his only foil
Cry more
@@jebidiahkorn too developed?? hes played less then 150 games at the pro level lol you are wild
@@jebidiahkorn Same thing was said about Rick Dipietro.
....So he held out for an extra $250k?
What a dou.heb.g
AAV isn't the only thing you should focus on with contracts. It's a promised 66 million instead of 64 million; he's actually getting an extra 2 million. Besides the extra 2 million, he likely received other bonuses and a no trade clause that weren't on the table before. You need to think about the PLAYER more than the team because these guys are contractors at the end of the day. You wouldn't expect a plumber or electrician to take a pay cut for "loyalty" to his shop; he should take his skillset elsewhere and focus on getting paid.
Whatever, 250k is more than a lotta hard working souls make in 5 years.
Super excited with how low he signed for was thinking 10 plus . Was worried for when Demko came up , but now Demko can’t be more than that. He’s more like 7.25 if swayman is 8.25
One knee demko is getting like 5 max bruh, I love the canucks but lets be real here, demko is done, time to move on to Silovs
Still a first round team
I don’t trust him, and after this whole process, I’d rather not have him on my team.

W video like always
Boston will still miss the PLAYOFFS
You morons have said that for 10yrs now .
Screw the bruins
Nah, they are on the way down anyway.
It's more than that. Swaymen also took a $23 million in bonuses and a no trade clause. Now he has us by the balls for 8 years.
That 23 million in signing bonuses is part of the 66 million. That's why the cap hit is 8.25 for 8 years. Total of contract including signing bonuses over the leanth of the contract.
The NM doesn't come in until the 3rd year of the contract. The NM goes from year 3 through year 6. Year 7 it's a 10 team approved trade list and year 8 is a 10 team no trade list. That's not bad.
