Volleyball is a game of momentum and Texas had it the whole match. All is not lost for Nebraska and they will come back stronger... You had an awesome season and exceeded all expectations.
As a Texas fan I sure didn’t expect this based on how the season started. Credit to Elliot for creating and maintaining the culture and coaching them up all season. Their serving game plan in the final 4 was amazing.
Skinner was just hitting over the top of Nebraska defense. Texas serve was fantastic, and really exploited the downside of bumping float balls vs open hand, which the men side does with them.

Nebraska’s best hitter this year was a transfer. Everyone has such strong opinions about Texas’s use of the transfer portal, but ultimately, the choice is on the players. I also thought it was interesting how, after losing, Coach Cook wants to posture like his team was the underdog because of all of Texas’s experience. To frame it like that now, while benefiting from the hype and media bias that comes from being the number #1 team, seems disingenuous.

The differences between Texas and Nebraska is Nebraska can actually build Texas relies on transfers LMAO…… And they literally just signed four girls for next season, all whom, which made the final four this year with a couple having experience in the finals even….. Nebraska kicked everybody’s ass with predominantly freshman…..

There should be a cooling off period. Maybe two or three hours to allow for the disappointment to wear off, so that the players and the coach can better analyze things, because addressing questions, stupid questions or not. It is hard to lose and then to immediately have to address tough questions at a press conference. I blame the NCAA for not mandating a cooling off period. Let the kids cry, grieve, and shower down. Then, bring them to the press conference table.
Bottom line: Harper couldnt pass, Lexi couldn't cover, and no defense or serve receive game.but for Harper to say that they will win the next 3 years is a stretch - how about you win passing the ball after getting aced 4 times and shanking championship point. I like what we are doing, coming from a guy who called up a player who was committed to Wisconsin years ago and talked her into coming to Nebraska. I think the Portal is great. It gives the players some leverage they did not have before and gives them a opportunity to look at other systems
JC, you have Larson in your coaching team, there's no excuse for your team to not be able to handle O'Neil's "pro" serves, put Larson in her volleyball shoes and let her serve some balls at your team in practice? Or hire some male training parters that train serve&pass with your girls... there are no excuses. This was a disaster. No game plan.

What I love about NU fans is that there are always excuses. After the Badgers won in 21, they were all like , “the Badgers are all old and graduating. We’re all young! 1983 UNL Alum here... Hold your head high. I am one of those people that before the "Volleyball day in Nebraska" didn't know the difference between a libero and a setter. You all captured my heart throughout the season and I'm sure there are tens of thousands just like me all around the country that now know how special you all are both on and off the court. GBR!!!! .
I know that the media has deadlines, but I think that teams would be better served to have a two or three-hour period after a tough loss to be able to compose themselves. There is a tendency for statements that my be motivated by disappointment. For example late in this video, the Nebraska coach takes a swipe at Texas talking about may players that came to Texas by way of the transfer portal. Just for the record, the transfer portal is a part of the recruiting process today. Whether players are recruited right out of prep schools or from other colleges, it is still recruiting. Everyone can do it. I see nothing superior to recruiting from high school and developing player to recruiting from other schools and integrating those older players in with players already on your team. I believe that had there been more time to get some of the disappointment out of the way. More time between the end of the match and the start of the press conference, that perhaps the coach would not have taken the swipe. But the Nebraska coach and his three players seemed to be spoiling for fight. It is human to bad sad, disappointed, and a bit angry after losing the biggest match of your season, but it looks to many like poor sportsmanship. Just tip your cap to your opponent, say that you have a great season and that you hope to use to loss for future motivation. That is the sportsmanlike way to take a loss.
Lexi knows how hard it is to win a championship. She has lost twice. She is humble, and obviously the adult in the room. Harper and Bekka are too ignorant and immature to understand

Not in the beginning but once October began and seeing how the freshmen played, it was very clear Nebraska was a contender. I’m sure coach knew beginning of the season how great the team was

I'm a relatively new volleyball fan and my team is Texas. I tuned into this press conference to see a gracious team because I'd never watched a Nebraska game. Boy was I disappointed. What a sore loser this coach is. I will never forget this and will root against Nebraska from now on. Thumbs down to the Huskers!!!
It was a good season. May have had a tough last game, but the good out ways the bad. Despite some obvious statements that I think should not have been made in this video, I feel so bad that all of nebraskas hard work this season is being undermined. Good luck next year!

Congrats to UT, but I just don't get this final four. UW and NU both make UT serving look like National team v high school. It just doesn't add up. What am I missing? Sure there was movement and some speed, but it wasn't anything either team hasn't seen during the B1G. UT's days of dominating the conf are over once they move to the SEC, and they only dominated B12 after NU went to B1G.

The new, key and decisive element in both the Nebraska and Wisconsin games was Texas’ serve. If not an outright ace it put Nebraska out of system and thereby more easily blocked. That to me was the game. The college volleyball world has taken note. Like Harper said “Serve and receive” All the other bombastic explanations pale. Nebraska you won hearts and minds!
The main thing here is that we are proud and we can sell that to future transfers that when you come to Nebraska guarantee at least someone will be proud and you get a piece of paper at the end with your name on it yay🎉🎉🎉🎉
So here we have a Nebraska team that, as the ABC announcer kept pointing out between shilling for Texas volleyball, has ZERO seniors. Yet this 'young and inexperienced team' did far better than anyone had a right to expect. They never lost heart, never lost their focus and their eyes were always on the next point, the next set, the next match. And they're all coming back. Imagine what they're going to do next year. With all due respect, that’s not how Texas won last year or this year. And Nebraska is no stranger to picking up transfers for their benefit. Doubtful that Nebraska would have made it this far without Merritt Beason. Texas is a great program with a great culture. Give credit where credit is due. Nebraska’s coach needs to realize that as well, and humble himself.

After watching Texas dismantle Wisconsin it was evident to me we were up against it....their power they hit with and their defense is fantastic....but they are all older more experienced players than our young team. This was great experience for us and showed exactly where we need to improve this off season....to do what our ladies did go that far with 1 loss all season says something huge.....Texas might be so full of THEMSELVES right now and they deserve the championship....but know it or not they faced the team that next year or in 2 years will show them the door......once the party slows down and they re focus they gotta sleep at night knowing they just met the team that will remove them from where they have been the last 2 years now.

Even going into the championship they had just taken down Stanford and Wisconsin in impressive fashion and most would've called the game a toss up. Vegas odds were skewed 60-40 Nebraska but Nebraska likely bet those up slightly and predictive odds would've been closer. Regardless I didn't say they were favored just that neither Nebraska nor Texas should've been considered big "underdogs" this season.

Sports reporters asked the dumbest questions. If I was a player, I would find these press conferences more painful than the match.
It’s like some of them are asking reality tv questions, not sports questions. More emotional and leading questions.
There should be a cooling off period. Maybe two or three hours to allow for the disappointment to wear off, so that the players and the coach can better analyze things, because addressing questions, stupid questions or not.
It is hard to lose and then to immediately have to address tough questions at a press conference.
I blame the NCAA for not mandating a cooling off period. Let the kids cry, grieve, and shower down. Then, bring them to the press conference table.

I like what we are doing, coming from a guy who called up a player who was committed to Wisconsin years ago and talked her into coming to Nebraska. I think the Portal is great. It gives the players some leverage they did not have before and gives them a opportunity to look at other systems

1983 UNL Alum here... Hold your head high. I am one of those people that before the "Volleyball day in Nebraska" didn't know the difference between a libero and a setter. You all captured my heart throughout the season and I'm sure there are tens of thousands just like me all around the country that now know how special you all are both on and off the court. GBR!!!! .

I know that the media has deadlines, but I think that teams would be better served to have a two or three-hour period after a tough loss to be able to compose themselves. There is a tendency for statements that my be motivated by disappointment.
For example late in this video, the Nebraska coach takes a swipe at Texas talking about may players that came to Texas by way of the transfer portal.
Just for the record, the transfer portal is a part of the recruiting process today.
Whether players are recruited right out of prep schools or from other colleges, it is still recruiting. Everyone can do it. I see nothing superior to recruiting from high school and developing player to recruiting from other schools and integrating those older players in with players already on your team.
I believe that had there been more time to get some of the disappointment out of the way. More time between the end of the match and the start of the press conference, that perhaps the coach would not have taken the swipe.
But the Nebraska coach and his three players seemed to be spoiling for fight. It is human to bad sad, disappointed, and a bit angry after losing the biggest match of your season, but it looks to many like poor sportsmanship.
Just tip your cap to your opponent, say that you have a great season and that you hope to use to loss for future motivation. That is the sportsmanlike way to take a loss.
This has to be soooo hard for our girls to do after a game like this. Dont hang your heads. You're still loved by all Husker fans.

Congrats to UT, but I just don't get this final four. UW and NU both make UT serving look like National team v high school. It just doesn't add up. What am I missing? Sure there was movement and some speed, but it wasn't anything either team hasn't seen during the B1G.
UT's days of dominating the conf are over once they move to the SEC, and they only dominated B12 after NU went to B1G.

The new, key and decisive element in both the Nebraska and Wisconsin games was Texas’ serve. If not an outright ace it put Nebraska out of system and thereby more easily blocked. That to me was the game. The college volleyball world has taken note. Like Harper said “Serve and receive” All the other bombastic explanations pale.

They never lost heart, never lost their focus and their eyes were always on the next point, the next set, the next match.

Congrats, Lady Huskies, you did make the championship and that says volumes. There may be a reason for their loss not dealing with technicalities or stats, but that is something else.
I hope they come back better next year. Congrats to Texas, without Maddie they would have never gotten this far. I hate that schools are allowed to trade and buy players, which is why Texas won also last year. Texas is looking for a name for its school sake, Nebraska and other schools are good due to actual coaching and players bonding.
With all due respect, that’s not how Texas won last year or this year. And Nebraska is no stranger to picking up transfers for their benefit. Doubtful that Nebraska would have made it this far without Merritt Beason. Texas is a great program with a great culture. Give credit where credit is due. Nebraska’s coach needs to realize that as well, and humble himself.

After watching Texas dismantle Wisconsin it was evident to me we were up against it....their power they hit with and their defense is fantastic....but they are all older more experienced players than our young team. This was great experience for us and showed exactly where we need to improve this off season....to do what our ladies did go that far with 1 loss all season says something huge.....Texas might be so full of THEMSELVES right now and they deserve the championship....but know it or not they faced the team that next year or in 2 years will show them the door......once the party slows down and they re focus they gotta sleep at night knowing they just met the team that will remove them from where they have been the last 2 years now.
Texas celebrating that they won a championship means they are full of themselves? Texas was the underdog the whole season and swept the number one ranked team. They have the right to be proud of this win. Nebraska needed this humbling.

Even going into the championship they had just taken down Stanford and Wisconsin in impressive fashion and most would've called the game a toss up. Vegas odds were skewed 60-40 Nebraska but Nebraska likely bet those up slightly and predictive odds would've been closer. Regardless I didn't say they were favored just that neither Nebraska nor Texas should've been considered big "underdogs" this season.
