Genetics of Iberomaurusians (Taforalt)

- The Iberomaurusians were a prehistoric culture that thrived in North Africa, particularly along the Mediterranean coast, from around 22,000 BCE to 9,000 BCE. Their name derives from their geographic proximity to both the Iberian Peninsula and Mauritania, though they were indigenous to the Maghreb region. One of the most significant archaeological sites linked to the Iberomaurusians is the Taforalt Cave in modern-day Morocco. Excavations at Taforalt have uncovered both skeletal remains and evidence of complex burial practices, including the use of red ochre in burials, a practice associated with symbolic or ritualistic beliefs. The genomes recovered from Taforalt are some of the oldest human DNA samples from Africa, dating to around 15,000 years ago.
Genetically, the Taforalt individuals are unique. Geneticists hypothesize that they descend from ancestral north africans, a hypothetical homo sapien group indigenous to north africa. However, they also carried significant genetic admixture from Near Eastern populations, suggesting ancient links between North Africa and Eurasia.. The Iberomaurusian genetic component has also been detected in modern Berber populations, as well as in certain groups in Southern Europe, reflecting the deep historical connections between North Africa and southern Europe across the Mediterranean.
For this video I gathered the raw genomes of 6 iberomaurusians from the taforalt cave, dating to 12 millenia before the common era. I ran the 6 genomes through my trait predictor tool for DNA analysis, link to purchase which will be in the description - as will be the links to purchase the raw data for the 6 files analyzed for this video. 5 of the 6 genomes were male, and all of them carried E1b Y lineage.

Ibero-Russians? I always knew that Russians actually came from Iberia!! I love this peolple!
thank you! very informative!
One small rectification, Mauritania has no link to the creation of the name "Iberomaurusian" though, it's rather Mauretania (the area around Northern Morocco and Western Algeria). Oranian is a synonym of Iberomaurusian. The Ibero- part was meant to show links with Iberia although we now know Iberia during the same period had a totally different population genetically (Magdalenians). That being said, there might be some |small amounts of] paleolithic European ancestry in Iberomaurusians that is absent in the Natufian-Nile Valley cline.
And beside the Ancestral North African (ANA) ancestry of Iberomaurusians - ANA likely a distinct branch with no close relationship to other neo-African ancestral pops (as of now, its position can change with additional paleolithic samples) - there is some minor weird affinity with divergent pops that are as divergent as Khoisans' main ancestral population, so potentially a very divergent donor population to Iberomaurusians.
As for the "berberid" phenotype, I bet most Berbers wouldn't even be predicted as such. I'm curious.
Good job in any case.
Very North African
The Eurasian links go beyond ties to Natufians.
“Haplogroup U has been found among Iberomaurusian specimens dating from the Epipaleolithic at the Taforalt and Afalou prehistoric sites.[6] Among the Taforalt individuals, around 13% of the observed haplotypes belonged to various U subclades, including U4a2b (1/24; 4%), U4c1 (1/24; 4%), and U6d3 (1/24; 4%). A further 41% of the analysed haplotypes could be assigned to either haplogroup U or haplogroup H. Among the Afalou individuals, 44% of the analysed haplotypes could be assigned to either haplogroup U or haplogroup H (3/9; 33%).”
Natufians would’ve descended from the Iberomaurusians if anything. Eurasian back migrations occurred through the straight of Gibraltar and the Levant.
Can u do modern day berbers next or modern day scandinavians
Thanks, could you do early neolithic moroccans IAM and Oub ?
KEB, KTG and SKH are others
is there any information about the length of telomeres? great!

The Iberomaurusians of Taforalt were the product of an admixture event that occurred in North Africa, between the indigenous Ancestral North Africans (yDNA E-M35 & mtDNA ?) and Dzudzuana-related Eurasian migrants from the Levant (yDNA J and mtDNA M1 & U6).
Ancestral North Africans would have been the product of an admixture event that occurred in North Africa, between Ancestral Northeast Africans and Aterians.
Ancestral Northeast Africans would have been the common ancestors of Aboriginal East Africans, West Africans & Bantus, and Eurasians; they would have been the source of yDNA CT & mtDNA L3 and their subclades.
Aterians would have been the product of an admixture event between an ancient branch of Anatomically Modern Humans from East Africa (like the fossils of Omo Valley - Ethiopia and Skhul Cave / Qafzeh Cave - Israel) and Basal Homo sapiens (like the fossils of Jebel Irhoud - Morocco).
Y do you people think we came from Africa? Y DNA E is not African. It replaced native populations in Africa. Every video that this dude posts is more evidence that you people need to drop the racist connotations.
@@mcgeedarion Andrei never claimed that E isn't African (it is possible that it isn't African though). We do not even have samples old enough to prove that E is African or Asian. All we have are data from modern samples and postulations. There is a huge and justifiable consensus that it originates from Africa.

Interesting I have some of their ancestry
Where are you from?

please, the next analysis should be the Ibero-Ukrainians❤
Interesting. I've never heard of that. Iberians and Ukrainians didn't live anywhere near each other.
@@ernietbone4168I think this a streak of trolling since Iberomaurusian is technically Iberomau-RUSIANS. This paves the way for Ibero-Ukrainians to be a valid joke.

Predicted Dark Brown, but why is the phenotype image not showing that?
He morphed photos of berberid, bantuid, and Indian phenotypes.
where does y-dna Haplogroup E come from ?
@@PondaPonda-s1w Macrohaplogroup E comes from East Africa.
@@gamalnassertv how are you sure it did not come from Asia ?
@@PondaPonda-s1w some clades are indigenous to Africa some through back to Africa migrations
what was the Y-DNA of Dzudzuana, how come his Y-DNA does not show up in the iberomaurusians, Unless Y-DNA E originated from West Asia and was brought over to North Africa and the rest of Africa over time by Dzudzuana like people....
Because Dzudzuana mixed with E carrying Ancestral North Africans, biased geneflow. I think as well most Iberomarusians had U mtDNA lineages which originate outside the continent.
@@gamalnassertv so you are syaing he was outcompeted...and the females only married the ANA men.
@@PondaPonda-s1w Yes
I believe that Dzudzuana people carried yDNA J, since it's ubiquitous in the Levant and the Arabia Peninsula - where Dzudzuana-related ancestry is also ubiquitous; yDNA J is also common in Georgia, where Dzudzuana people came from (Dzudzuana is the name of a cave in Georgia).
Funny thing is that someone just recently found a Dzuduana male sample from David Reich recent study and he carried C-V20. E likely came from East Africa or Yemen from the Southern dispersal (as DE is seen in Yemen, India, and Sub-Saharan Africa)
Ironically, he says they scored 3 dark brown 3 light brown and the man he shows is neither. He chose a tan khaki colored man😂😂😂😂. There is no real objective scale for this skin color stuff. Guess they have to uphold the lie of "light skin" being Indigenous to North Africa.
You forgot to take your meds today, Kang.
Must be horrible to have such a lack of self worth, that you have to obsess about other people's skin colour. :o
Agriculture and later civilization in North Africa came from lighter skinned migrants. No Egypt, Phoenicia, etc would exist without farmer admixture.
