    There was an old captain in the Swedish Air Force who said that they called the J29 Tunnan "A duck on the ground and a swallow in the air", an expression which means it looks really clumsy on the ground, but in the air it's a natural.

    The Vulcan is a beautiful aircraft. I do not know how good it was.

    I do not care that it is "out of date", that Vulcan bomber is a classic, and I am willing to wager, if a brand new version of the same basic design were made today with modern upgrades, it would be more than capable.

    The Tunnan(Barrel) is i think the second fighter jet ever built! and one of the fastest in its time!

      Wrong! Preceded by Gloster Meteor, de Havilland Vampire & Venom, Bell Airacomet, Lockheed P-80, Grumman Panther to mention just a few. There are plenty of others - do some research!

    Retaining the Vulcan could have given the UK a credible reach in the northern & southern hemispere. The B-52 has served the US all over the world & was built in the mid 1950s when the Vulcans were built. The just needed some upgrading. In stead of bombing Argentina I think the sight 3 Vulcans over flying Bueno Aires would send the message that the Faulklands are British & you're playing with fire.

    @ Paul Herrdahl, i agree, but i am not sure if they landed the same day as the airshow, maybe the day before?, also i imagine that Stellan want's to keep things cool since they can't afford to maintain the planes as often as they did when Viggen was used in the military, expensive gear and they rebuild / maintain the planes mostly with subscriber money, when we saw Viggen fly in the airshow you can see in the end he didn't use the reverse system as much as he can, he can stop half the length that he did (if he wants), but i totally agree, i wish they flew the Viggen like they used to back in the days, so darn impressive plane when you fly it to the end of the capacity. I want the world to see what this plane really can do.

    • @Gruntol5
      @Gruntol5 9 років тому

      Stupid remark by stupid person. I think you need to learn about the interest enthusiasts have in older aircraft. It's the same with Classic Cars. I can visualize you at a Classic Car meeting mumbling about vintage Bentleys being "stone-age."

    • @gokhanhatinoglu
      @gokhanhatinoglu 9 років тому +1

      I don't like classic cars too. But, it doesn't our matter now. I haven't told those planes are new age and they should be much better.
