Luke my son you've just sold me an xDiavel. Knocked off all the reservations I had about going from my Diavel Carbon to this piece of Ducati excellence. Never question your role in this business lad!
Believe us when we say we'd have loved to test the DPL system but unfortunately couldn't whilst we were on the road, and under the eye of the Ducati team! Another time for sure.
I saw you guys working there and all I can say is wow! I saw a team full of well organized, professional and humble people. It was pleasure to meet you all. Keep it going!
I like it. Beats the hell out of getting a pirate suit and an American Aircooled. I don't need a sportbike. AS for an adventure bike, I'm not riding it across continents. I'm not going camping on it. I don't need to jump any logs with it. I don't need to hunch over on a Monster, or tiptoe on a motard. Multistrada is uncomfortable for an around town bike (for a shorter guy), don't care for the looks of the Diavel much, but I love the look of this bike. I may get the accessory peg kit to move the controls central (TBD). I will definitely get the 1" farther back bars. Back issues prevent me from crouching. I think it checks all my boxes. I like it. I get the fun and name recognition of Ducati, some performance and handling, and a good around town bike. Can't wait for them to arrive. Thanks Luke.
I kept waiting for you to find that open stretch of road and brave the Ducati Power Launch, though I know there was a certain fear-factor in doing it! The impression I get of you in past videos, has me guessing that you did indeed give it a go! :) Really good reviews that would actually serve to sway me one way or the other in what I would buy! Great Job!
Ordered the standard XDiavel a couple of weeks ago. Can't wait to get it. Moving from HD to Triumph to Ducati, All have their merits and the XDiavel is the one for me.
Test rode the S model today. Definitely a head turner. Very comfortable, easy handling (vs my TBird - 339kg) )plenty of HP, feet forward just a little short for me so I'll have the pegs moved to the most forward position. Stalled 3x at the start. Not used to the higher revs needed to take off but once I reconfigured myself, it worked fine. Mine is planned to be delivered in 2 weeks (standard model). Can't wait as this bike is real fun. Ride safe Pat
Your reviews are top notch. Great commentary and you definitely understand what sophisticated riders like me want to hear. Glad I subscribed to you channel a few months back. Try to mix in reviews of bikes that aren't necessarily top. Of the line or super expensive. Thanks

hmm, I suspect that being flown across the globe and put up in luxury by a bike manufacturer means that you can't say anything negative about their new machine, like the outrageous service costs of these DVT motors. let's see what the rider reviews are like in a few months, they're the only ones I trust.
+Bike World I'd love to seriously. but a test ride wouldn't tell me anything about service costs. I was close to dropping the hammer on a 2015 Multi a few months ago, as all the pro reviews were glowing, but some deeper research into owner forums uncovered an army of dissatisfied owners. Anyhoo, yours is an entertaining review certainly, but I'm just suspicious of manufacturer sponsored launch reviews where everyone is gushing, because every bike, no matter how good has negatives, but they never get mentioned on these types of review. Great channel BW, no hate directed at your good selves, and I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at an invite to such an event.
+bab 1993 It is not Ducati's price that bothers me. In India, foe imported motorcycles, we end up paying 120 % on the retail price. So, a £20,000 Panigale costs £40,000 here.
That seems like one mazing night. Beautiful XDiavel, beautiful ladies plus a boat. Fucking total win! I'm not digging the front foot-pegs though. Good thing it could be customized.
Like it just as much as my love for my old MT-01. BUT.. that sitting position does grow tiring - stretched round back... not for everyone. Torque is fun though :)
fantastic looking bike but does it handle on uk roads. We want to see the tests in uk as it'll have to go around the twisties. Why test it in the us when we ride in the uk.
Great review! Had a chance to try the bike myself, the acceleration is definitely a lot faster than any traditional American cruiser. But the bike handles somehow strange, at very low speed the turning radius is huge, because of the long wheelbase(over 1.6m) and 30 degree rake. At speed, it turns very light and quickly, but in the turn, it feels strange because the 240mm rear tire, the contact patch is far away from the bike's center line. The launch control is more a launch assist, you release the clutch progressively, without practice, launch control can be slower than "manual" start. With that much power underneath you, it's scary to release the clutch at full throttle and over 9k rpm. The foot pegs are high off the ground, to give that 40 degree lean angle, but for me it's too high, and too far forward. It could be a better bike, or better cruiser, if, the wheel base is shorter, the rake is smaller, the rear tire is 200mm, and the rider triangle is more neutral, less cruiser-ish. Looks awesome though. Everyone I meet says, that's a sexy bike!
This was a very informative bike review. However, if I'm going to spend the money to ride such a beautiful bike, I'd like to be a well dressed as you... specifically the jacket. Would you mind enlightening me on the brand & model of that leather. I've been looking for quite awhile for that similar style & color. Thanks.
Thomas Jefferson I often wish we had a tiered licensing system. You pass enough classroom and track courses and you're allowed to go as fast as you want. Problem is enforcement and knowing who has what license.
I don't buy the bit about it being better built than HD. I've owned several Ducati's and have seen this bike in the flesh. Its a nice bike but I don't think Harley have anything to worry about. People buy a Harley Davidson because it is a Harley Davidson.
With all this pampering of the journalists at those launches, how can we expect an unbiased review of the bikes? I bet everyone wants to get invited the next year again. Or are those launches open to all journalists and everybody has to pay out of their own pocket?
Brilliant Un-Biased Review, thanks! Would you be so kind, can we make a request about a review on the new Harley Street500/750 if it ain't much to ask? Much obliged.
they are less comfortable, have higher maintenance needs, and costs. they also dont handle as well, dont stop or accelerate as well, and to alot of people including myself they dont look as good.
Nice review, lovely bike etc. I fear the bike buying public is being drawn into the PCP trap as no one will be able to buy outright, just effectively rent, service and give back at the end of term. 18k really ! over inflated prices, definately just check out the guar. future value figures for all makes. I am afraid we will all be left with Chinese bikes to buy outright.
@10:24 "when you compare it to a Harley".. Harley go back to the kitchen where you belong to. A 50's tech pathetic v-twin burger griller. Oh.. forgot.. and too much shiny chrome too. (An EX Harley owner)
+Hamad Al Hussain I'm feeling you man. I been a Harley rider for over 20 years, and I am trading in my V-Rod for this bad boy. That said, I still love the classic styling of Harley hence why I have a few horses in the stable.
Feet forward! What a step back. And what a shame. Everything else sounds like a huge improvement, especially the low-down torque, but who the hell wants their feet in front of them, apart from cruiser riders? 'Don't call me a cruiser,' Ducati said, so why the feet forward? This will put a lot of people off.
1 thing I don't think when I think of harley is not well built. after owning them and looking for a new bike. I kept getting drawn away saying well that's shit. harley never would have a bike leave the factory with all those plastic and rubber bits in all the wrong places. not to mention even with the small issues with the twin cam engines what bikes out there really have 70 year old engines still fire up like new with a new plug and some brake cleaner? sure some of that is due to harley's average rpm for a long ride being below 3k while sport bikes are above 7k. but that's just more reason to say harley's are really well built.
Really a shame the kid didn't know much about the Harley Vrod. He just assumes all Harleys are air cooled I guess. Vrod torque band comes in at 3800 rpm vs the 5k of the Duc. Bought my Vrod new for far less than the Duc as well. The Diavel is a beautiful bike but, some one needs to get this kid off the kool-aid.
"Harley's aren't particularly well built"... I suppose Ducati's are? I can already see the dash lighting up like a Christmas tree the moment you leave the dealership. My friend has a 2013 Diavel and a new excuse for not being able to ride it seems like twice a season. What good is carbon fibre and titanium when all it does is sit there (leaking) occupying space in your garage? Oh, and everybody makes the wanking gesture when he's stopped at a light. Even me :) Still... At least they're cheap.
"Yanky land" are you referring to the U.S? because im pretty sure we have some of the best driving roads in the world, as long as you are in the mountains, if you are referring to the mid west then yeah, that place is unbelievably flat.
There are a ton of great motorcycling roads around San Diego. I left 14 years ago due to the leftist government in the state but its a great town and has awesome motorcycling year round. I like the bike a lot but Ducati has to spend more money on fixing its reliability issues and actually take care of the customers with issues instead of spending huge sums on press parties wining and dining the reviewers. This sounds like a commercial, I hear nothing about the problems. If you are wondering about what issues, look up SNOWCAT on you tube and hear his story and how Ducati treated him when he had problems, on two consecutive bikes then think long and hard before you buy this. This bike is beautiful in its own way but unless I have money to burn and AAA I wouldnt do it.

I spot a wild Baron and Steve Farrell at 1:25. Great review again, Luke. Really enjoyed watching.
+mxpxn which one is baron? as in baronvongrumble? or a different one?
+Spanks s the one next to the bald guy that's next to Luke
+mxpxn Really? don't think i've ever seen his face before
+mxpxn hah, if it wasn't for his face reveal video I wouldn't have even noticed.
+mxpxn I always look for familiar faces in press launch videos lol

Oh don't forget about the weather too in San Diego. It's amazing year round.
That Brown jacket is perfect.
A moto mais linda do mundo, a Ducati XDiavel Cruiser, sem palavras. ..

Why don't you try it for yourself?
+Bike World I'd love to seriously. but a test ride wouldn't tell me anything about service costs. VeeFour real bikers service they're own bikes. Or take it to a non Ducati dealer?
+Jarvis chevalier Maybe after the warranty expires :D
+VeeFour People seem to be quoting £150 - £200 ...not exactly outrageous.
Looks like a real world Judge Dredd bike, I want one!
+Ben 1022 Hahaha so true
Good video and well delivered. I have the 2018 X Diavel S in iceberg white and its just a beautiful machine in every way. 👌
what a great review honest and well articulated and the key points were addressed.

This kid is the best Motorcycle Journalist on the Planet!!! Ducati Fan Boy!!! Can you blame him?
Great review Luke, enjoyed Shakey's cameo too
Hey, Ducati. Instead of importing, assemble your Bikes in India. That way, we will be able to afford them.
+bab 1993 It is not Ducati's price that bothers me. In India, foe imported motorcycles, we end up paying 120 % on the retail price. So, a £20,000 Panigale costs £40,000 here.
+bab 1993 LOL. But even in such a scenario, my neighbour rides a 899 Panigale and wants to upgrade to SP.
+bab 1993 that really makes me feel better.
Just saw one in the mall Diesel apparel window, took pictures, came home, Googled it. Now to convince the wife!
Looks brutal, but the feet position gives away that it's a cruiser.
which do you prefer, ducati diavel or ducati Xdiavel ?
They treated u guys like royals to fuck with ur opinions..but nonetheless it is a magnificent bike..looking forward to your non biased review.
+poeperdhe Go ride it!
Guessing you didn't watch it till the end?
That seems like one mazing night. Beautiful XDiavel, beautiful ladies plus a boat. Fucking total win! I'm not digging the front foot-pegs though. Good thing it could be customized.
Fan-bloody-tastic review. #goals.
Italian bike British reviewer American launch wow now that is what I cxall a global icon.
at 1:26 you can see Baron Von Grumble in the back :o
THE DUCATI XDIAVEL WIL GOING TO REPLACE DE NORMAL DIAVEL (DIAVEL CARBON)?
Great review one of the best so far on the new diavel
How have these gone up 4K in 7yrs. Getting mugged off! Great deals on second hand ones though 🙂
Like it just as much as my love for my old MT-01. BUT.. that sitting position does grow tiring - stretched round back... not for everyone.
Torque is fun though :)
No mention of how the belt drive performed, or compared with the chain.
Good review,so now your on my subscribed list!!
Great review as always mate.
fantastic looking bike but does it handle on uk roads. We want to see the tests in uk as it'll have to go around the twisties. Why test it in the us when we ride in the uk.
Recommended height for this bike ?
Still in SD?? Let's go for a ride!
Love it! By by V-rod, hello XDiavel :-)

This would be a great upgrade from the HD Iron 883
Good vid mate, well done.

THIS IS CALIFORNIAAAAAAA! *KICK*
Seriously, though. Pretty much everyone rides like a hoon in SoCal.

the dpl. did you just dump the clutch at once or you need to feather it out? im curious..
Why the ear-wearing music atop the Ducati music machine? Nothing sounds better than an L-twin
What jacket is that you're wearing sir if you don't mind my asking?
i'm in love
Brilliant Un-Biased Review, thanks! Would you be so kind, can we make a request about a review on the new Harley Street500/750 if it ain't much to ask? Much obliged.
How comparable are super-cruisers like this and the VMAX to the super-nakeds like the S1000r and Super Duke?
they are less comfortable, have higher maintenance needs, and costs. they also dont handle as well, dont stop or accelerate as well, and to alot of people including myself they dont look as good.
Heard the suspension is back breaking... Is this true?
but how does it cruise? wind buffeting, fueling issues?
the boy is handsome for real!
Any ideas what leather jacket that was?
BREHS. this is my dream bike. time to start saving goddammit

that was cool
what is the name of the music used 0:45...thank you

What Shark helmet is that?
+Saajan Chowdhry It's a Race R Pro Carbon Skin, very cool isn't it!
+Bike World Sure is! I want one
Baron! :)
Not as batman as the Diavel but each to their own.
if it didn't sound like a fart in the bath, I'd buy one.

The V-Rod doesn’t make max torque until 7,000 rpm, 84 ft lbs. The XDiavel makes 92 ft lbs at 5,000 rpm.
15 for the plain jane x I was told 19999.
i bet americans cant make that bike in their entire life.really italians are masters when it comes to motorcycle making
parts are just too damn expensive for the this bike. Looks better than a bat mobile though.
thumbs up......
"Harley's aren't particularly well built"...
I suppose Ducati's are?

Still...
At least they're cheap.
What song is at 0:15?
where the fuck my passenger is going to set, on the rear tire???
Didnt use DPL...
+Samuel Wicks Well, on video anyway
this is all good but ...it is a Ducati so you'll probably go back to the dealer every three months... :)
That posture on the bike seems silly to say the least. I suppose it works in yankee land with no corners to speak of though. Yuck.
"Yanky land" are you referring to the U.S? because im pretty sure we have some of the best driving roads in the world, as long as you are in the mountains, if you are referring to the mid west then yeah, that place is unbelievably flat.
OK
Nice bike...but It's not going to stop me from buying a Harley.
Really? Not one single negative aspect to report? Are you working for us, or for the manufacturers? "Lip service" ... indeed.
Jesus, I want your job. How about we trade jobs for like, a year or so?
So a 11minute vid and you couldnt find 10 seconds to show us the launch control ? I mean come on man why you holding back ?
@ 00:12. The blonde in the middle was hot. She had great looking knockers.
haha
Well damped lol I own one worst suspension of over 30 bikes I’ve owned it’s terrible and well documented
+9999plato It's not just Snowcat, I've had a lot of problems too, same treatment as well...
