I love hand sewing the binding too. I know a lot of people dislike it but for me, I just love finishing it up. And you’re right, it’s so nice to put on a good tv show and sew away!
Cute. I made a summer quilt or as I call it a Phoenix quilt. I live in Phoenix AZ and is mostly too hot for a traditional quilt. I made the quilt top and used a vintage sheet for the backing. I didn't add any batting.
Oh my word I SO appreciate this video!!! For years I never understood how people could just machine sew the top of the quilt. You shouldn't be able to fit half a quilt in the space between your needle and sewing machine... BUT YOU ROLL IT!!! That is SO SO SO smart!!! Thank you for this video it was so instructive and I can't wait to try out this method and make some quilts from my vintage sheets!
You answered my question like no other video did. Roll it to sew up the middle. My grandson likes puffy quilts so it will be a little more challenging but I think it will still work. Thank you!
Why, Robin, I had no idea you were a woman of many talents!! I am very impressed! I would love to learn to quilt, and you make it look so damn easy..also loved the wreath and grasses you picked up..Great job, keep them coming. You have to have more surprises up your sleeve!! Till next time ,girl, keep up the great work!! Rita
This video popped up on my home page on UA-cam. This quilt is beautiful. I have subscribed and look forward to following you and also enjoying your past videos!
Question, can you machine sew the entire binding? Also, really like the wabi sabi repair you made. I want to make a "kantha" like light quilt and this looks like a nice project. The vintage sheets makes a nice quilt. Thank you I also like you did this with a regular sewing machine and not a lot of fancy stitches!!!
Yard sales, thrift stores, flea markets, Goodwill, etc. Keep a wish list of second-hand items to buy, as you encounter them. Never know when one of those items will show up during your stash shopping trips.
Hi Robin. I love this idea...so I’m going to look for a sheet. I have a couple of questions...do you know if the vintage sheets you found are muslin, or cotton/poly? I like mine to be soft like yours...I didn’t know if I should go with the muslin. And...I was thinking of buying a flat double...or do you use a twin? Thanks for your answer Robin!❣️
Just gotta love whole piece quilts ! Always wanted one like it...but..my bed gets invaded by fur babies lol. One stays with me (seizure dog ) . I never tried that batting. What are the stitch requirements on package please? The one I use is 2-5 inch. Be nice to have one with more.
Thanks for creating & sharing this, Robin Johnson 💖 Vintage sheets do have a lovely feel! I can’t imagine many ‘modern’ sheets lasting 50 years

Hooray!! Glad you posted this. I am encouraged to proceed WITHOUT batting!!
Did you quilt it?
I made one with 2 percale sheets with a flannel sheet between! It’s just right for hot weather 🥵
This is a beautiful use of vintage linens!

Sorry to say I don't have the package anymore but I don't think I changed anything up in that regard when I was sewing the layers together.
❤️
What if dont want to cut the fabric??
I bought one haven’t done anything with it
Love this! The only thing I don’t get is the binding part.
