Veteran news anchor Dr "Easy" Matjila gushes over his honorary doctorate

- Renowned broadcaster and former SABC newsreader Masego Ezekiel "Easy" Matjila has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the North-West University in Mahikeng.
This is in recognition of his contribution to promoting and preserving the Setswana language.
Matjila began his career over 30 years ago, as a presenter for Radio Setswana, which later became Motsweding FM.
His exceptional broadcasting skills and language proficiency resulted in his appointment as a Setswana sports commentator and an SABC prime-time news presenter.
And now we are joined here in the studio by "Easy" Matjila.

Watching the news with my grandparents when I was a kid was such a pleasure. Got me in love with Setswana.

I have no words to describe the contribution that ntate Eazy Matjila has made in our lives through his broadcasting service. I've listened to this gentleman since Radio Tswana days. If I passed by a certain building in a foreign country e.g. Iceland and heard him speak I will know straight away it's him - Dr Ezekiel Matjila. He has a very recognisable/unique voice.
Congratulations to Dr Matjila, this man has done a lot not only for the SABC but for our Setswana language. My mom(may Her Soul continue to Rest in Peace) used to be one of those who loved their language ya Setswana, she made us love this guy. I suspect he was her crush. He reminds me of Mogale Mafatshe!

It was a Facebook post that also helped him get his flowers. That status was honouring him while he was still alive and it trended so hard. I’m thankful to have grown to watch him since him middle school days. My mom only watched his news🗞️ reporting.

...I work as a security officer this man used to come at our workplace and cause havoc ,looking for one of our workmates who owed him money for rent I'll never ever forget Mr Matjila he almost got us expelled from work just because one of our coworker was duck & diving ,didn't want to pay Mr Matjila ...the misunderstanding between the two of them was eventually solved in court with both sides benefitting !!!
