Every store just about was playing John Mayer, but when I asked if they had any chord books of his (thought it'd be cool to have one in japanese) they had no idea who I was talking about lol. This wall of books was massive and I couldn't read any of the labels without pulling each one out to look at the cover so I couldn't just look for it myself. Joyo has a lot of quality pedals. I've been using the Vintage Phaser, Ultimate Drive & Dyna Compressor for a few years now, no problems at all. Sounds great, and the cost is unbeatable.
I love JOYO pedals, I use the Ultimate Drive pedal with my bass and it is amazing. It adds some dirt and grit without losing any bottom end. Thanks for sharing Dan, I gotta try this pedal out !
I busted out my Audiotechnica M40x for this and could hear only the slightest difference in some of the chord patterns. I doubt I could hear it with anything else and it was only in the lower chords. The max OD overdrive sounded hairs more compressed but that was about it. Tone = identical. Drive = Nearly identical. I'm sold.

That’s awesome!! I have been so close to getting the full drive so many times. I want this one now! I have to check out the rest of the new joyo line now too. The trem verb that put out years ago got me into tremolo effect. Can hardly play without it now!
I love my Joyo Vintage Overdrive, but I’ve wanted a little more adjusting. Glad to see you put out a detailed review on the tones for this pedal, picking one up soon !
This was a great review, and a sick new intro!! Definitely going to be checking out both of these and hopefully purchasing one. Probably the max OD first, it seems more versatile.
Dang! That pedal sounds great! Dan, keep up the great work and please keep doing what you're doing. It's amazing to have someone finding these great deals that also play and sound great. I love watching your videos!

@@GunsandGuitarsHe is great! I love how, like you, he tries to find affordable gear! I actually just purchased myself a Cab from a company he suggested, Harley Benton, for about $150 including. The thing came with a Celestion Vintage 30!
Great review Dan. I recently have really gotten into pedals and your recommendations have been so good. I'm going to definitely get this Joyo pedal. It has the sound I'm looking for. Great job as always!

I could hear it slightly on the lower chords, but only slightly. And to be honest, it's not worth a $100 more. I like Joyo, I have at least one of their pedals. It's been dependable. I'll give the expensive companies credit, because they discovered the tone machine, but they should be able to supply pedals at a more competitive price point imo. Same with guitar companies.
@@GunsandGuitars You'd think autocorrect would pick up on the difrinse between deferent and different. I mean there so difr...deffer...dipher....uhh...😕 They're not the same. 😎
I had a FD2. Favorite OD I've heard. Sold it (dumb). Bought this so happy again. It is not heavy distortion, for high gain you get a pedal designed for that. I have found that pedals have a sweet spot (or none). I have never heard a pedal with sweet spots both at low and high gain, at least not to my ears.
I can’t tell the difference. I know there’s audiophiles out there who probably can tell. But I’m not an audiophile. I’ve always been “plug in, sounds good, let’s go.” And this Joyo and all the Joyo R series pedals sound really good.
To me the Fultone sounds a tad brighter, the Joyo slightly flatter that's not to say the Joyo didn't sound good, if I was told there was say £20 difference between the two I'd have the Fultone but, if I was in the market the Joyo would be close to top of the list. Great demo btw.
In the general the fulltone is a really affordable "American" pedal for what it does. I had one for quite a while. Really really great and there is a large ish amount of used ones.
Thanks for the great video, I like the fast cut side-by-side comparisons. I have been hesitant to buy Joyo products because I don't have a fair perception yet of their tone quality and build quality. I might give them a try with this box.
Joyo is ok. As far as Chinese made pedals, they're one of the better ones. Build quality/reliability STILL isn't as good as Fulltone, although tone is certainly close enough. Resale is also much better with Fulltone. Unfortunately, Fulltone is closing their doors mostly due to cheap knock-offs like Joyo (among others), so as things continue down this road, more American/UK pedal companies will be going out of business. No one can compete with Chinese product pricing because employee pay & operating costs are much cheaper over there. And I said something similar elsewhere but it's idiocy reading people's comments of "these companies should be priced more competitively...". Going back to the original point: quality and reliability is not on par with the originals.
Sounds great! My main concern is reliability. Is the Joyo pedal built solid? OD pedals need to be very rugged for me, I constantly turn them on and off. That's something that the Fulltone provides, it's a tank.
It’s been over a year and mine is still holding up fine. I replaced my fulldrive with it just because it takes up less space on my pedalboard. But still, time will tell. My fulldrive is almost 10 years old.
I have a Boss ME80 - going into a HotRod V4 - Im looking to get better overdrives and distortions. The Boss is OK, but Im thinking I can do better., Might just get the Fulltone Plimsoul again and be done with it. Will the Joyo deliver? Is it NOISY? Joyo's are known to be.
I love your channel. Lots of great info. I own a few JOYO pedals and they are great. I also own the Fulltone Fulldrive 3 and it's cool too. The one difference that could be a factor is 'environment'. as in, are you playing an out door gig in extreme heat or cold. That's when things are different. I had a gig in Detroit last summer on a very hot day on an aluminum stage. The stage temp had to be 105 degrees F. Unfortunately, my JOYO pedals did not work at all in the extreme heat. My more expensive pedals did work despite the high stage temp. Hey, I still love JOYO and I will buy from them again. But, the temp factor did affect the operation of the JOYO pedals. But, if you aren't playing a gig in extreme temp conditions the lower priced stuff is great. This is NOT a slam on JOYO , I love my JOYO pedals. Just keep in mind that more expensive components might be more reliable in extreme conditions. ....and once again.....some more expensive pedals might fail in high temps, but, not as likely. Rock on everyone. BE SAFE. LOVE JOYO!!
Got my FD-2 for 50 bucks. Basically brand new. Telling you guys have connections if you can. I still can’t thank my buddy enough for helping get my first drive pedal for church. (3 years ago lol)
I love these kinds of videos Joyo does make nice pedals. I bought a sweet baby used and sounds great. Similar to the soul food which I asking have and for less money. Can't wait for the UZI review.
I totally agree with you on that logic.just because you pay more you'll get something way better.well they do have to make up some excuse so that we'll buy their expensive product.i have been using joyo since i found out about them.never failed me once.i also have a zombie and its great.
Truth is, the Fulldrive is really a dolled up Boss SD-1, so there has always been a cheaper alternative, but for anyone who wants to get the exact FR-2 sound and format, this looks like a good choice.
popping these in here because the latest video's as good as any. 1. having recently acquired my first ever 7 string guitar (ESP LTD M17 made in Vietnam), riffing on that low string (i tuned it to drop A) is SO much fun. Trust me, you're going to want to do a 7 at some point. 2. ever thought about getting into the DIY pedal market? B.Y.O.C seems to do some good stuff. 3. while you are a very consistent player (props to that BTW) a true "fair test" should run a looper or something so we get the exact same sound being played each time, taking out the human variance (at least for tests on pedals and amps, sadly doesn't work for pickup switches). If you already do this, ignore this last point.
1) heck yes I’ll be building a 7 string kit 2) yes I’ve though about building pedals and I will for sure someday 3) yes a popper would be a better comparison, but would also make for a more boring video. I appreciate people who do those comparisons with a looper, but I hate watching those videos, so I opted to just play all the riffs.
What do you think about the lawsuit with electroharmonix and Mooer? Is elextroharmonix winning the copyright infringement case going to effect other companies that might be coping a little too close? Not saying that this pedal is a dead on copy but is there going to be changes to the import effects after this case?
I honestly have no idea kyle. But it’s likely that it won’t change anything. The Chinese do whatever they want without any regard to copyright. Mooer may get sued and stop making the pedals, but I bet another Chinese company will pick it up.
The problem with the mooer pedal was they copied the software so bad they forgot to take the eletroharmonix copyright info out of the code. The impressive part was they one the case in China for the first time. I think this might stop some of the full on copies not the similar to pedals.
I've been eyeing FD2 for awhile because it's pretty widely used in worship settings, but $150+ has kept me away. $58 however... I may need one of these soon. Thanks, Dan!
Just ordered this pedal. I believe in the sound and if I can find a good sound for cheaper i do it. I already own a Joyo American pedal and it sounds awesome for my needs.
@Guns and Guitars I am starting my TL Build. I'm going with a humbucker in the neck, quarter pounder in the bridge, and a bigsby tremolo. I am using one of your links to buy the guitar, and was wanting links to the parts so that I can help support your channel too.

Do you think sometime you could do a guitar kit build using a Kahler tremolo? I’m pretty curious because they’re supposed to be easier to install than a floyd rose. Love your videos man!
My pedal board is made up of Joyo and Donner pedals (all under $50) and I definitely agree with you. Most if not all the clone pedals are basically the exact same circuits but with maybe slightly cheaper parts or manufacturing processes. I would definitely consider buying this if I feel I need this...which I might...
I've lowered my pedal purist standards ever since i bought a behringer sf300 instead of the boss fz2 and they sounded almost exactly the same. Glad to know there's a cheap clone of the fulldrive. Been keeping an eye on that one.
But all kidding aside they may sound close but not the same....you may not or I may not or most people may not like the dude but Mike Fuller builds probably THE BEST pedals on the market....I'm very serious cuz I spend alotta cash on BO-tique pedals....oh yeah, and build-wise Fuller's Fulltone pedals are the best.
Dammit! Now i'm going to hear that silly lick in my head for the next week!! :) I liked the Fulltone on the chords but actually liked the Joyo on the lead notes better... now I guess I'll have to get both :(

It’s been over a year and mine is still holding up fine. I replaced my fulldrive with it just because it takes up less space on my pedalboard. But still, time will tell. My fulldrive is almost 10 years old.
Very good comparison.... congrats
...greetings from Brazil
I bought my Fulldrive 2 during Black Friday and it was 90 USD brand new. Fantastic overdrive, as well as the Fulltone OCD.
That’s a great deal!
I love these kinds of videos Joyo does make nice pedals. I bought a sweet baby used and sounds great. Similar to the soul food which I asking have and for less money. Can't wait for the UZI review.
the JOYO D-SEED is one of the best delays I've used.
I picked up a Joyo ultimate od several years ago, for $30 brand-new, works great never had any problem...good looking out for fellow musicians
That guitar looks absolutely stunning, would like to make that myself
Great comparison. Thanks!
Dan those sound exact to me. Heck yeah, I may pick one of those up. Interested in what amp you have.
Epiphone valve junior. I bought it because of all the mods you can do to it, but I’ve been to scared to mod it yet! Haha
popping these in here because the latest video's as good as any.
1. having recently acquired my first ever 7 string guitar (ESP LTD M17 made in Vietnam), riffing on that low string (i tuned it to drop A) is SO much fun.
1) heck yes I’ll be building a 7 string kit
2) yes I’ve though about building pedals and I will for sure someday
3) yes a popper would be a better comparison, but would also make for a more boring video. I appreciate people who do those comparisons with a looper, but I hate watching those videos, so I opted to just play all the riffs.
Cool Dan ,thanks for the heads up!
Hi sorry for commenting randomly. Does both of the pedal still works fine? Is it durable and worth to get? Thanks
Still have it and it Still works awesome!
@@philliphagebusch7243 thank you so much!
I never own anything from joyo, but I think it is something to own for someone who one cheap but great. Nice video Dan!
@Guns and Guitars I am starting my TL Build. I'm going with a humbucker in the neck, quarter pounder in the bridge, and a bigsby tremolo. I am using one of your links to buy the guitar, and was wanting links to the parts so that I can help support your channel too.
Great stuff Dan, i really love that guitar that you are playing
I really cant hear the diference at all either, i mean i can but its really i sifnificant for the $100 difference!!
Really enjoy ur vids alot!!
Love the way how ur always looking to help every one how to save more than just a penny!!
Thnx for all your efforts and all your help!!!
Blessings!!$
Do you think sometime you could do a guitar kit build using a Kahler tremolo? I’m pretty curious because they’re supposed to be easier to install than a floyd rose. Love your videos man!
and here i am ..... happy with my Mosfet that i got used for 30 Euros . Never in my life did i get such a good deal
Another great video. Thanks for the tips.👍🤘
You've inspired me to work on my lead playing.
Excellent! I’m glad I could inspire!
I've lowered my pedal purist standards ever since i bought a behringer sf300 instead of the boss fz2 and they sounded almost exactly the same. Glad to know there's a cheap clone of the fulldrive. Been keeping an eye on that one.
great playing, too!
Great review, I cant tell too much of a difference. Also I love that guitar still
But all kidding aside they may sound close but not the same....you may not or I may not or most people may not like the dude but Mike Fuller builds probably THE BEST pedals on the market....I'm very serious cuz I spend alotta cash on BO-tique pedals....oh yeah, and build-wise Fuller's Fulltone pedals are the best.
Dammit! Now i'm going to hear that silly lick in my head for the next week!! :) I liked the Fulltone on the chords but actually liked the Joyo on the lead notes better... now I guess I'll have to get both :(
