Siddham is my favourite script and I love practicing my siddham calligraphy :) I think it is the most beautiful script in the world. Thanks for the video and greetings from Germany.
@@DileepafromGI It's a script, not a language. You can write multiple languages like Sanskrit or Pali with it. Jayarava's website and book "Visible Mantra" is a great resource but more importantly John Steven's 'Sacred Calligraphy of the East'. Also there is the 'mandalar' website (which can only be accessed through the waybackmachine now). You'll find the link (as well as other useful resources) at the end of the Siddham wikipedia page in the External links section. There you have to click on 'Bonji Siddham'. That's all I've been using so far. There are great books in Japanese with buddhist Sutras in Sanskrit as well but I am not sure how to acquire them. (I'd be very delighted if anyone who reads this can tell me how to get Japanese books about Siddham! Thanks.) I hope this helps. Have a great day. EDIT: the aksharamukha is a great resource for translating between different scripts as well.
Note: That statue at 4:08 is not of Kashmiri Prajñā, but Tripitaka Master and prolific translator Kumārajīva. Also the character for Chán 禅 and zen 禪 are technically synonymous, though the former would be more likely written in contemporary Japanese.
Great stuff Anirudh 👏 What about Prakrit script. So little is know about it. I believe it originated in India and taken to South East Asian countries. Please do an episode on Prakrit script and how it fell out of use in India..
I was seeking a vedio on this topic. Thanks for all your efforts....🎉 And what's my opinion about siddham script is that it might have evolved due to the strokes system used in China and Japan used for writing syllables or kanji. So, they look more like a Chinese syllables rather than a Indian writing system. ❤
Could you throw light on the reverence to Lord Balaji. His iconic place in religion of the Dravidian culture if I am right. His righteous place in polity of southern kingdoms either as a God King. I have heard of a few narratives but nothing contemporary keeping in mind people' s sensibility!

@@iamDamaaldumeel, yes, we learned this - that what is now called "Brahmi" was previously called "Dhamma lipi". Precisely why I subscribed to the Print. Amazing range of interesting, genuine information. Well done, Print!
This is my favourite part from the print...and m big fan of author I have read Lords of deccan many times
This series needs more views :)
First time heard about this Siddha script. Thanks for this fantastic info.

Prakrit was a bunch of languages. Like the Magadhi Prakrit or Pali
there is a big difference between script and language. prakrit & hindi are languages; Sidha & devnagiri are scripts.
It's bhami script and language is Pali prakit
SE Asia adopted grandha script that was developed by Pallava reign in Tamilnadu.
One of the best program of print

日本語の文字であるカナ文字はサンスクリット語を参考にしています。
カナ文字は漢字からの派生ですが、表音文字という概念はサンスクリット語ゆらいであり、カナ文字の並び順はサンスクリット語由来です。
Yeah I realised it myself
Japanese people are really brilliant who made a horizontal writing script into a vertical script which looks beautiful
Thank you this clip is very useful to me.
can anyone tell me where I can find the original Siddham script, I mean Indian version of the Siddham script? ( without mixture of kanji) .
Amazing!
This should be a proper podcast and not the audio format of this video. Better audio quality and a little longer.

Great talk. Very well explained and researched. But please speak a bit slower. These are new and difficult concepts. Give or mins the time to grasp.

Why did leftist got so interested in history suddenly 😂

Siddham script is also still used in Korean Buddhism, in Korea and internationally.
However, it is not commonly called Siddham, 悉曇 , but rather 梵語 (beom-eo, “Brahma-language”), that is, Brahmi.

Hey, Aniruddh. Please explain how leftist history and right wing history has nothing to do with political orientation and it's much more than that.

What if all your Gods, legends and Vedas come from the Orient?
Think about it.
Orient ..NOT likely ever; but from Persian Zoroastrian? a most definite YES. The Zend Avesta looks like Part one of the Vedas.
Seeing that they have a common ancestry in Eastern Europe, which is not " the Orient "
