Mellissa is awesome. I saw her at Woodstock 94 (the year this song and video was released) She does an awesome Janis Joplin tribute too. COME TO MY WINDOW was another huge hit.
I seen her in 94 too, in Springfield MO. I've seen so many concerts, hundreds of singers, bands. My first was Guns n Roses Iron Maiden in 87 and I seen Morgan Wade last month. Melissa Ethridge I've seen twice, that first show in 94 I was so moved by her voice live that concert sticks with me and still is one of my all time favorite shows. She is special. Her voice can't be replicated on a recording you have to see her live.
Melissa slayed with this tune. Incredible vocal chops. Another lady from the same era who could belt it out was Alannah Myles. Check out "Black Velvet" Edit: Nevermind, you already reacted to it. lol
You have to listen to this on a really good sound system. The under lying beat really thumps, the guitars cut, the drums crack and the dynamic range is through the roof. Melissa's' voice will slice through you like a laser beam. Crank it up!
"Somebody bring Me Some Water" is really good one. Melissa carries a wide variety of style. She is my choice for Road-trip Music when we start, it just seems to fit.
Melissa Etheridge is the real deal. Such a talent. A cross between Janice Joplin and Elvis Presley. Great voice, powerful voice, great guitarist, great song writer. Unique and creative.
"You can sleep while I drive" is one of my favourites of her songs, but this is more like the style of her other songs. "Come to my window" or " Bring me some water" are a couple of hers that are a great listen, a somewhat more recent song, from 10 years ago, is "Broken hearted sun" which is a duet with Serena Ryder, from when they toured together.
Nice one guys!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I agree with Lex, she's a sultry wickedness about her. And I def turn it up when played. Fortunate to have seen her a couple of times and she does not disappoint!! Love Melissa!! ❤👍🏽
Not sure how much I can add to comments already posted, but just saying again how much I love your channel. Great, great reactions. IMO you two compliment each other very well in how you react to songs.
People probably wouldn't think it was the case thinking back off the top of their head, but around '93-'94, the only albums bigger than "Yes I Am" were "Cracked Rear View" and "CrazySexyCool". Melissa Ethridge was on the radio CONSTANTLY.
Love this song, she has a Janis like Bluesy tone with better tone control. Her guitar playing is very similar to Alanah Myles Black Velvet, both fantastic guitar driven tunes.
This song is more Melissa than the other one you guys were talking about. I think this is the song when she came out. Great song, thank you for playing it.
Wow. You guys need to listen to this song again and pay attention to the lyrics. The word you're looking for is PASSION not evil. This woman beat the music industry, beat prejudice, beat Cancer! Hero. Not villain.
I LOVE her! I've seen her live several times. I call her the female Bruce Springsteen. She's huge with the lesbian community and I have many lesbian friends so every show I'd go to I'd see so many people I knew. 1 show in Maryland she was so into this one song, playing guitar, that it felt like she was never gonna stop. Eventually she just laid down on stage for over 5 minutes just jamming on her acoustic. Sent shivers through me. Also she is a breast cancer survivor and she wrote an amazing song called "I Run" that was always played at the beginning of every Susan G. Komen Breast cancer walk I would go to.
If you listen to the lyrics of her songs, you may notice they' re not specific about the gender of the other person, this was a deliberate move because she' s gay but didn' t want to make a thing of it and alienate the more bigotted of the country listeners.
Brad & Lex, you'll love her "Come To My Window", "Like The Way I Do" and "Bring Me Some Water"!!! She was inspired by Bruce Springsteen! This song is more true to her sound.
Well damn, I couldn't find a good live early version of her covering the John Prine classic angel from montgomery. But I heard her performant every time I saw her live over the years and she just absolutely killed it. It was a great John Prine song and Bonnie Raitt really kind of made it famous to a lot of other people that never would have heard of John prine, the amazing singer-songwriter. But I love the way Melissa Etheridge did it. She had the audience in the palm of her hand every single time.
Not just my favorite Melissa Etheridge song, one of my favorite songs of all-time. Her voice is incredible and the passion invoked in this song is simply heart-wrenching.
Love Melissa! Her early stuff was often about pain and jealousy of relationships. She is amazing live too. Saw here 3 times between ‘89 and ‘93. Check out Like the Way I Do live sometime
This was on her Yes I Am album the album she came out as a lesbian on(Yes I Am get it lol). I am a guy who listened to rock in the 60s and 70s but this album that came out in the 90s is one of the best rock albums I've ever heard
Not only is she a badass, but she's from Leavenworth which I could drive to in about 20 minutes from here in Lawrence kansas. So I was privileged enough to see her several times over the years. She was always a badass for sure.
@@Emilaria Oh yeah, she grew up in Leavenworth Kansas and I think she stayed there through high school and graduated and then she went off to Berkeley you know the prestigious music thing but then she came back and did this totally just down to earth raspy gritty thing as a woman. I think her first album was in the late '80s which was right when I was playing in all these bands and I was in my mid-20s and so the Lawrence music scene was great and we would drive all the time to go to Kansas City but she would come play at the bottom like here in town and other places. And yeah I know exactly where Troy is, I used to be an IT manager at SRS back when it was still called that in the day, and we were responsible for seven different counties, and Doniphan County was one of them and there was a small office in Troy. This would have been in a very early '90s, and I would drive up there on a regular basis.
The Bottleneck, that is, a venerable small music venue here in Lawrence that has been around for decades. I've played there 8 billion times but I've seen people from around the world there and some really big name acts back when they were just getting started.
Shes got some pipes on her....come to my window is another great song she does, she's a great blues/rock artist....do yall do requests or just grab songs from here and there?
One of my favorite all-time songs. Melissa is my favorite song writer ever! This whole album is great. " If I Wanted To" and "In The Ruins" are two other songs on this album you should listen to.
this is a fantastic song. There is a live version of her singing it on Letterman... all i can say is WOW. She sounds just as good, or even better live. You might want to check it out. Good reaction guys!
Melissa is a breast cancer survivor. She wrote and performed a song for the fundraiser races called I Run For Life. It became my favorite song of hers; I believe it is her most raw emotional work.
My fav version: "Melissa Etheridge - I'm The Only One, Oct 7, 2009", more mature but still in her power. (This is after fully recovering with a major bout with cancer).
Must must MUST react to "Like The Way I Do." Simply one of the greatest, most haunting vocal performances ever. imo. Which is saying a lot since Melissa brings it pretty much every song. It's still a showpiece in her live shows, often expanded into 10-15 minute hypnotic jams, and she never fails to evoke the same emotions with every performance.
I love Melissa -- so creative and such a powerful vocalist! She's a lesbian icon -- stood up for us when we were just barely tolerated, in her personal life as well as in songs like "Giant," "Tuesday Morning," and "Pulse." I " just listen to her songs rather than watch the videos, so I had forgotten that they included a guy in this video, because it was the early 90s and they still did that. But now when I see it, I wonder whether anyone found the presence of the one guy, considering that there were all those women there as well, persuasive that the song was about a man.
The slick production on this disguises the raw power.. this should sound like Exile on main Street to get the vibe right. I bet she is amazing live in a small club.
So many songs come to mind. Angels Would Fall is one of my favorites or Scarecrow, which was written about Matthew Sheppard. At my age, I've seen many concerts and she, without question, put on the best!
For some reason, when I listen to Melissa, I can't help but thinking about the Indigo Girls. I think that you would like them. Perhaps reaction worthy. Their concerts in the early 2000's were a lot of fun.
She's got a lot of great music, I've been a fan since she first came on the national scene in the late 80s. Her most recent album came out last Fall. Bring Me Some Water are a couple of faves. She even has a Christmas album.
Melissa kicks ass, saw her in concert in the 90's, her voice is so strong and she rocks it out too. Try "Bring some water" or for even more FIRE try " Like the Way I Do."
I agree with Lex, she has a sultry wickedness and *badassery* about her. She lays it down hard. I love this song.
agreed!
Badassery for sure. However, I would cast her in the role of anti-hero instead of the villain.
Thanks for using the word "badassery"! You made my day. 😸
@@twenty3enigma I live to serve 😆
So very true! A great interpretation 💖🦋
Mellissa is awesome. I saw her at Woodstock 94 (the year this song and video was released) She does an awesome Janis Joplin tribute too. COME TO MY WINDOW was another huge hit.
Yes!!!
And got to be the next reaction..
Saw her in 1993 at the concert for Walden Woods in Foxboro Massachusetts.
Woodstock 94 was bad ass. There was problems but at least there was still a vibe there other than total destruction.
Melissa slayed with this tune. Incredible vocal chops. Another lady from the same era who could belt it out was Alannah Myles. Check out "Black Velvet"
Edit: Nevermind, you already reacted to it. lol
You have to listen to this on a really good sound system. The under lying beat really thumps, the guitars cut, the drums crack and the dynamic range is through the roof. Melissa's' voice will slice through you like a laser beam. Crank it up!
I love this woman! She has a great voice and plays a mean acoustic guitar!
This is like "Blood and Fire" by the Indigo Girls. Amazing female singer laying it all out.
Unique and creative.
one of the people responsible for the rock and roll revival of the 90's. insanely talented. great choice.
Yes, Come To My Window, is another great hit for her.
She just has real grit while singing this.
Nice one guys!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I agree with Lex, she's a sultry wickedness about her. And I def turn it up when played.
Fortunate to have seen her a couple of times and she does not disappoint!!
Love Melissa!! ❤👍🏽
She is so good!! Also you should check out Bonnie Raitt.
This is a raw song about longing and desire when you're on the outside looking in.
"Like The Way I Do" is another great song from her.
Not sure how much I can add to comments already posted, but just saying again how much I love your channel. Great, great reactions. IMO you two compliment each other very well in how you react to songs.
Agree. Great job B&L
This is my ringtone....one of the best female voices ever.
Melissa is fantastic performer and song writer.
People probably wouldn't think it was the case thinking back off the top of their head, but around '93-'94, the only albums bigger than "Yes I Am" were "Cracked Rear View" and "CrazySexyCool". Melissa Ethridge was on the radio CONSTANTLY.

Sooo WILD and FUNNY causse I just got back from a Etheridge concert here in Ashland Ky bout 15 minutes ago!!!
Such a powerful singer. And a fantastic blues guitarist!
Power. Fine singer-songwriter. Delivery!
This song has such a slow burn. Love it.
Pure rock, she gives me goosebumps every time I hear this.
This song is more Melissa than the other one you guys were talking about. I think this is the song when she came out. Great song, thank you for playing it.
I love love love this song. I would sing in my car full blast and sing along!
Melissa is my girl. Followed her on tour during Chrome Plated Heart, and Brave and Crazy days. Good times.
I ❤ her !!
Brave and Crazy is my absolute favorite album of hers. 🥰
Melissa Etheridge and Bonnie Raitt are my favorite female blues guitarists

I also like I Wanna Come Over
@@Emilaria excellent song

That chorus always blows me away. Such blazing vocals 🔥🔥🔥

OMG! I love this song
Not just my favorite Melissa Etheridge song, one of my favorite songs of all-time. Her voice is incredible and the passion invoked in this song is simply heart-wrenching.
I saw her earlier this summer. She is still great.
ROCK STAR!!!!!!!
Love Melissa! Her early stuff was often about pain and jealousy of relationships. She is amazing live too. Saw here 3 times between ‘89 and ‘93. Check out Like the Way I Do live sometime
Yes! I love this song song so much. Had a huge crush on Melissa back when this came out…didn’t pan out for some reason 😂
This was on her Yes I Am album the album she came out as a lesbian on(Yes I Am get it lol). I am a guy who listened to rock in the 60s and 70s but this album that came out in the 90s is one of the best rock albums I've ever heard
♥ this! Tough & sultry vibes

Thanks for this one. I kinda forgot about Mellissa. Even though she is from Leavenworth KS. 30 miles from KC where I live.
this is a fantastic song. There is a live version of her singing it on Letterman... all i can say is WOW. She sounds just as good, or even better live. You might want to check it out. Good reaction guys!
One of the greatest female rock vocalists of all-time. "Bring Me Some Water" and "No Souvenirs" are also great tunes. 👍🤘
Melissa is a breast cancer survivor. She wrote and performed a song for the fundraiser races called I Run For Life. It became my favorite song of hers; I believe it is her most raw emotional work.
Big fan. Great cd
Incredible song, love this one.
This is more her style overall I think. She is a rock and roll chick at heart.
Loooooove this song.
She’s a badass with great pipes! She can sing!
My fav version: "Melissa Etheridge - I'm The Only One, Oct 7, 2009", more mature but still in her power. (This is after fully recovering with a major bout with cancer).
Super “Chops” for miles! Saw her live and I swear I saw lightning ⚡️ shooting from her. Fantastic!
This is one of my favorites of her, but this entire album was awesome. Like the way I do is my fav.

Awesome song, Bring me some water by her is awesome too it’s a must listen.
"Somebody bring me some water" is just an incredible song by her, in fact the whole album it is off of is incredible, especially being her debut
Melissa Etherige is the first CD I ever purchased.
Melissa is an amazing singer songwriter 👏much respect ❤️🎸this is a passionate love song! ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
Love Melissa Etheridge. Two of my favorites are chrome plated heart and like the way I do.
This is such a classic and you treated as a run of the mill song!!!
I love this song! It’s Melissa at her hard-rocking best! She talking to her former lover about how she’s the only one for them! ❤❤
Such a great my artist and vocally superior...soooo many good songs. Favorite is Brave and Crazy...the best...💖💖💖💖
This was her first big hit. She's killer
Love that song. She has such a great rock/blues voice. Oh and definitely react to "Come To My Window" as well.
Wow 😮 what a set of pipes!Powerful
Don't think I can add much to what others have said, other than I love me some Melissa Etheridge!
She has some powerful songs.
Chrome Plated Heart my favorite, but Bring Me Some Water and Sleep While I Drive are close.
“Chrome plated heart” is another great song by her.
Almost anything off her Yes I Am album will do nicely.
A great talent.
Awesome song.
Thanks.

Ah yes, the little lady from Leavenworth Kansas! Hometown girl!
Great live, Seen her a few times. Even played "Bring me some water" myself a few year back in a duet I was in. Raw and passionate every time
She's one of the influnces that convinced me to propose to my wife of 25 years
Great song and album. Saw her touring this album and she rocked out live.
HA, I click on like & turned it into 1K . You guys rock.
Thanks for reacting to this awesome song.
The slick production on this disguises the raw power.. this should sound like Exile on main Street to get the vibe right. I bet she is amazing live in a small club.
I could listen to Melissa and Bonnie Ratt all day long 👍
I just love her. If there is a female equivalent to Bruce Springsteen, it's her.
This was her first and best song.

Would love to see you react to Melissa's song " Your little secret... The original studio video. It's crazy

The only lesbian anthem every straight dude jammed out to. 😂
Melissa always reminded me of a female version of Bryan Adams in how she sung with passion and grit in her voice.
Love this song!!!
