When Jack Kirby created them, they were more specifically designed to represent the Gods of Greece/Rome and Sumeria (particularly Gilgamesh) but that changed over time to include other Pantheons. Some Eternals visited different cultures in different points of history so could be mistaken as different Gods. One of my problems with the movie was the waste of Salma Hayek. The movie should've cut down on the amount of Eternals so that a smaller group could be better developed.
Too bad they have nerfed a lot of MCU characters to fit the MCU narrative. Ajax supposedly is a warrior who can defend herself. However, she looked too weak. Romanov can fight 100x better than she does.

The Eternals are immortal cosmic characters who were known to be confused with the pantheon-based Gods that many geographic regions and cultures worshipped. When Jack Kirby created them, they were more specifically designed to represent the Gods of Greece/Rome and Sumeria (particularly Gilgamesh) but that changed over time to include other Pantheons. Some Eternals visited different cultures in different points of history so could be mistaken as different Gods. Furthermore, most young readers (and those new to Marvel period) have no idea what or who the Eternals are, so whether they're poc or not, it doesn't matter nor is it relevant to their character's identities. So you can stop crying over sex changes and gender changes.
