  • Join me for a slow, low-action walking tour around Barrio Barretto here in the Philippines. This is the first part of the walking tour which will take us from the Rum Jungle down to Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.
*Around the 16 minute mark I quoted a conversion of 150 pesos incorrectly. That's about $3 USD and not $1.50 It was when I was talking about the salon prices. Shit happens.
This walking tour was filmed on the DJI Osmo Pocket in 4K at 60 FPS. It's about 30 minutes long and is Rated PG.

I want to focus on making videos. Period. I'm a one-man production crew most of the time and my editing skills suck. It takes me all day to edit a video. Add two babies, a house full of beautiful Filipinas causing me stress, and my beer drinking, and I just don't have time to answer every piece of communication coming my way. I got rid of Patreon and a monthly income because I didn't have the time to properly thank and interact with everyone. A thank you email created and sent by an intern ain't sincere in my book. It's more sincere if I just say thank you for your contribution now because it's really me typing these words.

Good to see the old stomping grounds. This place had at least 50 bars back in the 1980's and early 90's ('86-'91) when I was there. Purple Stallion was my starting point. Rosies and Midnight Rambler are two of the old bars I recognize. Place has slowed down quit a bit from the Navy days so thanks for the slow walk.

Hey Marcos! We love your channel! We watch all your videos but this was one of my favorite videos (this and part 2). Thank you! We are headed to Manila in 4 months (one-way tickets!) and as retired Army, I'm considering Subic as a place to put down roots. Yes, I'm your "older" follower (but not geriactic yet lol) so this video hit the mark for me. After you passed the hospital and crossed the street you put your cam on those townhouses for rent. It would be great if you pretended to be a renter and did a video on "What you get for your rent money" in those townhouses and other rentals in that area. Because of these 2 videos I'm seriously considering that area for my 1st 6 months or year in the fil... Maybe you could visit a half-dozen places and have your bro edit it together for those of us who need long term housing there. In any case, we love your channel and your freewheeling lifestyle. I hope to meet you someday. Keep on rocking and thanks for everything!

When I was in and out of there in 68, 69, 70 there was no need to leave Magsaysay Drive right outside the main gate to Subic Naval Station. Hundreds of bars, restaurants and pay by the hour hotels. Not many believe the adventures we had there.

Sit n bull restaurant is good big portions. Shambolis is great for pizza. Coffee shop has cheap tacos. Check out Harley’s on baloy beach road they play good music and it is good for sports.

I stayed a few days in Subic a few years back. It was ok but I was spending big money at mango beach resort. Also stayed in free zone area. Seems I was enjoying it better before that gf showed up. I hope to visit again soon.

Sad to say, but the floating bars are gone! The local government shut them down from what my buddy (who lives is Barretto) told me...

Wrong, the 3 floating bars are still 100% operational. I live in Barrio Barretto.

@@davidamundsen9039 That's great news, if so! But I know that shutting them down was in the works only a couple of months ago. Hopefully, that changed...

good video . most walking tour vids sort of suck. this one was good. i think that many people would be interested in knowning what the cost of major medical insurance is. i tried many times on line to get quotes . but its the word jack me off with no happy ending. so maybe you could get a sales person to speak on your vlog. im 70 and us old guys need some straight answers about healthcare .

I'm one of those Vets you were talking about early in your video I was living in Olongapo back in 1985 we appreciate your video but shooting at 4k is a waste of your time as the UA-cam player does not go beyond 1080p but thanks for your effort. Save yourself the time and just shoot your videos in 1080p.
