- This is in my opinion Mono's best song, but I haven't found a good quality sample of Yearning on youtube, just live shows, recorded with bad cameras.
It's only the music what matters. And it's actually one of the best, if not the BEST song I've heard in my life. During a concert, I was shivering for 2 minutes while listening to this song... the ship (A38 concert ship in Budapest, Hungary) was shaking under our feet, I was standing there with closed eyes... 2 minutes of all-body shivering. (during the mind-blowing part of the song from around 7:30) Best music experience of my life.
after hearing this, finally i realized what kind of music I was searching for, it connects to my soul directly.
Wish I can find bandmates like them with the same ideals and make music for our souls, not popularity
Mono is only one
Just look for post-rock genere. I love Mono (been on a few concerts), but there are lots of similar bands, like God is an astronaut or Red sparowes.

music like this needs no lyrics. the music itself speaks volumes words can never speak. not now, not ever and never will
I don't know how many times I've cried and then gotten back up with this song.
It's a terrible shame that bands like this go unnoticed while every living soul on the planet has heard of Katy Perry/Lady Gag/Usher/whoever else is knwon the world round and doesn't posess a shred of talent opposed to a band like this.
I'm out of my reality. This song takes you to imaginable places.
That's exactly what it does. It makes you feel so empty inside, thinking of all the things you love going away, turning to nothing. But all at the same time it makes you live life like you've never lived before, it makes you feel like nothing ever has. Full of energy nothing else can give you. And when you're left with nothing, it makes things just a little bit better in the end because this music helps you think, at least this music is left to love. No one can take that away.

Timeless! I think people who lived a century to centuries ago would have completely lost their minds after hearing music like this. It would have probably been the most WTF moment in their history.
You are right, on cd they sound like they don't freak out hard enough, but trust me, they are absolute total destruction live. Never have I felt musical atomic explosions like during a Mono show.
I saw them twice in 2006... not sure how they are live right now, but back then... wooooooow
Although other Mono songs are amongst my favourites, this is is certainly in my top 5 of Mono songs, and I have to admit: this is the best built up song they ever made!
Difficult, because of: Everlasting Light, Error #9, Halcyon (Beautiful Days) and Moonlight :-)
pure as snow ending is number 1 for me, especially the strings around 9:30
Fifteen minutes of art. That's got right into my soul deeply. I can't quite describe these feelings I am getting when I listen Mono. It is something marvelous, unreal. Like a heaven itself.
I saw these guys open for High on Fire years ago. I remember this was the song they played first and when the loud part kicked in....it was like my sense of self was completely destroyed. All that existed in that moment was this amazing piece of art. I have never been so blown away by a live performance, and listening to this tonight brings a tear to my eye.

This is the band I love the most. MONO's songs are something unique and what you need to experience at least once on this shit life. They are just something else.

Mono's music daze me... this song leaves me sitting staring and wondering how anything can be this beautiful. Yes it does sound a bit corny to express it like that, but it's exactly what their music does to me. I'm so thankful to have discovered them and this song in particular

Any other long time (10 years here) Mono fans get a bit jealous seeing all their plays on UA-cam when you've been a fan for such a long time? It's great to see their music reach so many people, but it makes me a little sad that I have to share "my music."

Might just be me, but sounded like some growling and some TV show quotes in the song. Thought I heard something from 'Heroes'. But it might as well just have been mind tricks lost in the noice.. (yes, I'm sober). Btw - one of the best songs I've heard in a long time, and I've listen'ed to MONO before - why have I missed this one?! Oh, wow.

Ha, @ you poster. I had the EXACT experience YEARS ago when this albums release was right around the corner. Like tool is doing right now. This song was written for a bit though. It's actually on vinyl with a band Pelican on the other side. Again, BEFORE the release of this album. They toured together the first time I saw them and COMPLETELY stole the show. People were leaving during Pelican due to the singer/bassists OOZING ego at the time. Which was amplified due to the humility and even shyness that Mono displayed. Most people hadn't heard them. So these were PELICANS fans leaving. I've NEVER seen people FLOCK (lots of caps but sometimes one has to use emphasis) to a merchandise table to get albums right when they finished. Man I can't begin to explain but then you already know, which is why I just wrote this...
