- On October 15 of each year, White Cane Safety Day is observed in the United States. In 1964, Congress passed a joint resolution and signed into law 36 U.S.C. § 142, which allowed the President Lyndon B Johnson, and every US President since, to proclaim "White Cane Safety Day" on October 15 of each year!
The day is also called "National White Cane Day", "International White Cane Day" or simply "White Cane Day". The white cane is a symbol of achievement, accomplishment, and independence of people who are visually impaired or are blind.
The SixBlindKids venture out to enjoy a beautiful autumn day at the Fairfax Fall Festival and run into many of our fellow citizens who are blind or visually impaired, or serve those who are. We actually LITERALLY ran into some fellow citizens who were NOT visually impaired! Our apologies to them. Again, and again...

Yes, it is. These kids in our area are blessed with great training from teachers and mentors. They also have more blind peers than people in most parts of the country. These things keep them motivated and accountable. They are truly a great bunch of kids! Thank you! 😊💕

Sweet how she moves her head side to side every time music is played.
When you said "David can you take Abi?" he immediately reacted and helped her out. And i just thought ~ that's so amazing how one blind person can help another one through difficulties. It must give you and your husband a great sense of security to know that they grew to be so close to each other.
The kids really are able to relate to one another on a level that few others can. We have tried to instill in them that they need to have a lifelong commitment to watch out for each other, too. They do seem to understand that and we are very thankful for it ! 😊❤❤❤
Hannah sure sang a great version of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance! Even if it was right in the middle of a crowd crowd she couldn’t see! LOL

Obed and Jessie in the transport chair was just hilarious and the way Obed just stuck his foot out to stop the buggy, lol. After all that you see Obed just lying down on the grass. They are so sweet, well all your children are. Glad you all had a fun day at the fair.

It's very important to go out even if it's big work to do. Hannah is such a good singer and has good sosial skills. Your family is so beatiful. I love to see these videos from far away from Finland. 🇫🇮 It's country in Scandinavia. I work at home for handicap people and love it. ❤️ There doesn't live any blind person but I have worked also with blind people.

I just came across this channel looking for things for white cane day. Great stuff! I am visually impaired and I run a nonprofit that does quite a lot of work in southeast Asia. I speak quite a few languages and I’m also studying in Greece at the moment.

I was born in Fairfax! My family lived in Oakton for the most part, but I moved to Virginia Beach when I was young. Virginia is a great state for education, especially special education! Great place to live.

The teachers and staff have been our greatest source of support since adopting Hannah over 20 years ago. We REALLY do! We are working on it! Durable medical equipment is not easy to come by. There are many steps and a long approval process, but it is in the works! So maybe later in 2019, we will have it. 😉😊💕
That looks fun 😁. I wish I didn't have a problem with crowds though, I'd probably find something like that this fall. Went to a 4th of July event and the crowd was so huge that my anxiety started to act up. So we waited for the fireworks in the van lol.

Interesting that you noticed, Ruby. We are used to it, but yeah...everywhere we go, this happens. Usually it is curiosity. Most people are incredibly kind and loving just like here on YT- many have even treated us to meals! But every once in a while we do get the nasty stuff. There are all kinds of people in society with all sorts of different opinions, many of whom believe theirs is superior to other's right to exist. Yes, even in 2019. After awhile, when the opportunity arose to start a channel, we figured why not? They are staring anyway. Let's make the most of it! LOL!! 😉😄❤❤❤
